Return! I have bought almost every kit except the old ones. Am down to the bunny, lion, fox, owl, pig, elephant and turtle. None had this issue and I am sure there would replace.

Life-Bet549

Thanks, this was a few months ago. I actually wrote to them and they thanked me for finding a solution, ha ha. Anyway, I just cut it off and made my own magic ring. I don’t really like theirs anyway, too loose and starts with a knot, instead of a slipknot (at least some of them).

kitty-distressed

Yeah I did notice that most of my projects with their magic ring end up with pretty sizable holes in that round because of the tension.

mdmpls

Industry standard is that any one skein can have 2-3 knots and still meet expectations. Just something to be aware of.

JessieN

Crochet over it? That's what most people do, it's completely normal for skeins to have knots.

litreofstarlight

I initially thought this was about the product itself (I didn't even see the knot at first, I'm blind as a bat. Poor form on their part.). Is there much of a market for this? I'd honestly never heard of Woobles until this post.

StrikingDetective345

Those are probably started by super underpaid workers in crap conditions, considering it has to be done by hand.

rosanaei

Yes, the kits are made in China (it's on the package). So likely started there also.

[deleted]

They have people in China literally putting together the beginning part—-I’ll bet they have them make it, and THEN they are “connected” to the yarn skein to make it easier than moving a full skein around?? I know they have people doing the starts because in one of the very first posts of theirs on Instagram, one video shows Justine (ceo) saying when they got their first shipment of 1,000 or (10,000?) that the workers messed the magic circle and first sc stitches all up even though she gave very clear instructions! She and her husband and some friends had to re-do them ALL before shipping them out.

ComplaintDefiant9855

Re-doing them seems a fitting punishment.

mother_of_doggos35

Can’t stay that I’m surprised, it’s not like any of these trendy craft things are exactly high quality

SeymourBrinkers

Imma risk the downvote like the other person saying this but unless we know their financial situation, employee expectations and criteria it’s all over the place on why this happened. I get it, it’s annoying. There is a worry if it’ll be noticeable or not. But think about how much yarn they would waste if they just cut it off every time this occurred. Do we only save the sustainability ideas for when someone uses acrylic yarn? Also, it’s understandable to be annoyed, and send a customer service notice bc they may not know that this is actually that bothersome so it could be helpful. I just think the comments that are so pushy about how shitty the product is now (paraphrasing of course) is a bit much.

Kouunno

Aw man. I actually love Woobles, it was what started me crocheting, and I didn’t find any knots in any of the three kits I used. A knot in the middle would be annoying but acceptable, but a knot right at the start like that?? No way.

Pollution-Creative

I’m sure they will send you a replacement. They are very good about that. I didn’t get my free “we woobly bits” tin with an order and they sent it out with an entire new kit. Just email their customer service. I’m sure they’ll want to make it right.

rosanaei

Thanks, I did email them with the picture.

hanimal16

Wow and so soon at the beginning when it’s difficult to see the stitches. Good job Wobbles 🙄

LoisLain

Considering how expensive these kits are, I’d be snarking too!

knitwell

What’s the snark here? We live in a world where there are absolutely 100% going to be knots in lengths of yarn, string, rope—all of it. I think I’d feel SALTY about discovering it after that start, but snarky?

Junior_Ad_7613

Because the selling point of Woobles is that they have already started it for you and you can just go, so someone who works for them crocheted that starting ring, ignoring the knot that is going to hit in the first round.

knitwell

Oh, no way! Well, then —it’s absolute shit.

Junior_Ad_7613

Yeah. I guess they are great for folks who can not grasp a magic ring or are out somewhere without a project and want to buy an all-inclusive kit with tools and everything?

rosanaei

Maybe I don’t understand the meaning of that word, since English is not my first language. I’m sorry if my post doesn’t follow the criteria for this subreddit. I thought irritation was one of the meanings of snark. At least it is a craft, so I got that right…

Junior_Ad_7613

You are spot on; it would be different if you had started it yourself and found the knot, but that it was sold this way is… yeah.

Accomplished-Sun-823

That sucks!! I would send that image to their customer service. That is not right at all!

rosanaei

Yes, I probably will…

[deleted]

Definitey send them a pic. They’ll make it right!
