My wife’s card so she called
I got her to start the cancellation process on the phone and then mid way through the conversation she said
I am not expecting to pay the full fee as I haven’t had the card open for a full 12 month.
My wife asked for a a pro rata return of the annual fee.
Then the agent said all good I’ll refund the whole amount please provide account details
Disclaimer: the refund hasn’t hit my bank account yet but they said it could take up to 3 days.
I’d say it’s a luck of the draw and the type of agent you get.
Definitely feels like some agents could turn around and say no but other can be flexible.
It may depend on who you ask. My brother and his wife both got cards around the same time and both cancelled soon after getting their points. He got a full refund, she didn't.
