Was this how your application and interview went?

either way, if it's stopping someone who is clearly qualified for the job getting interviewed, and then getting that job, instead of preferring somebody else due to their familial connections, and who is going to complain, us?
I did this when I was in school. But it was because a professor that liked my work suggested me to the company as a good potential intern. It worked out, and I was grateful for the chance to work there and especially for my professors mentorship.
That's what I did last summer lmao. There's a cocktail bar at my town that only opens summers, and coincidentally I can only work summers full time.
Since I've been going there since I was 10, the owner asked me if I was interested, so I just dropped by one day to discuss hours and wages and started working the following week.
Probably gonna be similar for my intership, since I've been teaching english to one of the engineers in the company I plan to apply to and she'll vouch for me.
And I plan to work for the goverment, so I just need to show them my uni grades, proof that I'm not insane and then pass the physical and written exams.
I found a loop hole in the system, first you open an LLC, then you intern for yourself doing leet code or fun projects.
If you don’t like the pay you can say my internship paid way more than than.
You can open a business fixing mom and pop business websites because we all hate getting directed to Facebook.
(This a joke but may work)
>It's why we had the dark ages.
Nepotism is not why we had the dark ages lol. They might have something to do with the destruction of several thousands years worth of accumulated texts on History, Mathematics, Nature, Politics, among other subjects. Nepotism is trash and I am a victim of it but it's silly to attribute multi-century trends to it. It may explain things in a micro context, maybe even a few things in the macro context, but very little in the historical context. It's not nepotism alone.
Hate on the nepotism when the one who benefits is a terrible person, does not acknowledge their advantage/pretends they succeeded by their own merit, and/or is wholly unqualified.
Other than that it’s kinda just the way it goes.
I mean, isn’t networking and knowing people basically nepotism? Let’s be real, most of the time getting a job is mostly to do with things besides your ability to do the job. Including but not limited to star sign, whether interviewer had an argument with their partner last night , etc
Yeah like it’s not as if everything is completely meritocratic apart from when nepotism comes in- like sure it sucks to lose an offer to a nepo person but even the ability to do a CS degree depends on where you were born to a large extent so it’s not as if the world was fair to begin with
My god, there are many worse abuses of power such as the men who will ask married women to coffee and ask them how they can help their career. Had a few women friends tell me it happened at the media giant I was at.
It’s not necessarily bad when it’s a privately owned company and the owner wants to train their family to run the business.
But in a publicly traded company, choosing a less qualified person because you are related to them is doing a disservice to everyone involved. And creating a bs position just so your kid has a job is pretty much embezzlement.
My experience exactly, except that I sent two applications and got an answer for the second one only after I was already done with an interview for the first one.
Fwiw, my mom’s friend’s son got salesforce swe cuz his CS classmate friend was the son of salesforce’s founder and yes the son definitely went back to work at salesforce.
guys please help me out. I have applied/interviewed to so many companies but 0 offers till now 😭. My insti has mandatory intern exp for credit. If i don't get intern I may fail my degree 😢.

nepotism at its finest
I would have thought this was more cronyism than nepotism.
either way, if it's stopping someone who is clearly qualified for the job getting interviewed, and then getting that job, instead of preferring somebody else due to their familial connections, and who is going to complain, us?
A general question: If the person getting the job is qualified for the job, is it still nepotism?
Wow😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
😭🤣🤣🤣
Who made this
Soon, someone will post: 0 Applications, 1 interview, 1 offer, 1 accepted atp
0 applications, 0 interviews, 1 offer, 1 accepted It was a return offer from a previous internship
1 accepted I just walked in and started working there, and they never told me to leave
0 applications 0 interviews 0 offers 0 accepted
Walked in and worked illegally
Got abducted and worked illegally
Retired
"That's what makes this so difficult"
I mean, if a recruiter contacts you it would make sense
0 applications, 0 interviews, 0 offers, 1 accepted My dad owns the company and got me the position. He's not even a SWE, just happens to be the CEO.
I think that's just called nepotism.
This was one of my internships, an old alumnus of my school recommended me to one of his ex-coworkers at Nokia. Barely knew either of those guys lol
Why would that be so unlikely? A recruiter might just contact you, and you might as well accept the offer if it seems favorable.

That was me

Half my job offers are like that. Including my current one, the only one where "1 accepted" fits.

…I know a kid who did this and got a $50+/hr internship the next year with the help of his “experience” 💀 don’t sleep
9000 iq play
what's the company
His father's co.
I mean, it's still a job. I don't get the hate on nepotism.
always hate on nepotism 💯
Employed through nepotism > unemployment.
At this stage of how shitty the market is, nepotism is valid
If nepotism is an option, unemployment isn't a concern.
Not necessarily.
Nepotism prevents advancement, full-stop. What may be okay for an individual is toxic for society. It's why we had the dark ages.

I'd do the same for my kids. Not gonna hate.
I feel like most people would take the job rather than keep some of their dignity. I say take every opportunity that comes your way. No disrespect.

Nepotism is garbage. However, I respect people who do it, knowing that it is wrong more than people who pretend that this is all fine.
My god, there are many worse abuses of power such as the men who will ask married women to coffee and ask them how they can help their career. Had a few women friends tell me it happened at the media giant I was at.
