- Choose a medium-large sized project - Use online resources to figure out how it might work on a high level - Start writing code, don’t use any tutorials - When stuck, look it up or ask ChatGPT how to do it One of the most important skills across any CS adjacent career is being able to figure out new things from the ground up with sparse knowledge or guidance, sometimes only things like technical documentation or some outdated articles. I find it very helpful when mentoring people to build this skill from the start.
