Baby wrap or carrier is an option to free yourself. Bonus point : no risk of falling.

When my son was born, the Nintendo Switch just launched and I had a copy of BOTW. He loved it, I loved it, it was a great time.

I was on a Battlefield bender for my first. Now I’m on a Zelda BOTW, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3

Battlefield 1 was the game with my first. Such good memories!

Switch was a godsend between its portability and easy on/off for stepping away. That Switch is now my daughter's and while I played BOTW when she was born, she's now playing TOTK. Although Untitled Goose Game is her favorite, which we beat together recently!

My son spent two months in the NICU when he was born. I spent hours each day doing skin-to-skin with him while I played Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Mario U. Great times.

When my first, sleepless son was born I had spent all my money on a house, so I finally finished A Link to the Past on a raspberri pi. The second one got Ocarina of Time.

Did the same with both of my kids. Countless hours have been spent that way letting them sleep while mom gets extended shut eye. Enjoy these moments.

I'm one of those men thats quite hairless on the body, cant grow anything resembling a beard, very little chest and leg hair, baby really liked skin to skin with me. A friend whose body hair resembles a gorilla the baby wouldnt go for it. At all. But gaming with sleeping baby even if it is three in the morning is absolutely great :D

Hey dad! I worry about gaming from possible overstimulation from the tv. What are your thoughts? We’ve been sitting in a dark house to try to out him down during the witching hour. It’s our first (2.5 weeks old) so we aren’t sure if he is fussy for the sake of being fussy or if the tv is keeping him up somehow.

Different situations my friend. I would say I wouldn’t worry about the tv. Most cases your baby may struggle with colic or dietary issues. My son does well with lights and TVs but it all varies. I switched his formula once and after that he was good.

It’s trial and error. What works for some parents won’t work for others. You’ll find your rhythm! That’s what makes parenthood such a blessing.

Seriously. I had to just play some no man’s sky the first couple months at night. Great way to knock out some campaign games lol. So much better doing the overnight shift too when mom really needs that recovery sleep and waking every 2 hours leaves you absolutely miserable.

I am a firearms instructor. My 6 year old is proficient in weapons manipulation lol. He shoots a suppressed h&k mp5 with ease lol. I don’t allow him to play the rated M games though. He’s a Switch, Minecraft, Roblox kid.

I have super fond memories of sitting at my computer playing some vampire survivors one handed holding a newborn on night shift after a feed. I miss those bonding sessions. Now I have a two year old who will violently yell if he cannot watch my wife or I play a game. Making gamers. Good job dad.

My partner decided to just breast feed instead of me getting up to bottle feed at night. I’m still salty about it months later. My little dude would stare directly into my eyes while drinking almost like a thanks for being here for me dad. I miss those sessions too.

I couldn’t do call of duty lol I would be jumping around corners in my chair poor child would be on a roller coaster. But I did play hogwarts legacy while holding my 2 month old had some great times and some great 6-8 hour straight gaming sessions while holding one of my 2 twins

I was too zonked to play games for the first 9 months or so after my kid was born, but I read a ton of books and watched a lot of TV while she napped on me! The best was her sleeping on my legs while I watched Mad Mad Fury Road, I was so scared of her waking up and I wanted to watch the whole movie so bad I didn’t move for the entire thing.

My wife was in the hospital for only three days after our son was born, and because we had discussed it previously, she was doing breastfeeding and pumping so I could bottle feed. When they both came home, I cooked dinner, then ordered my wife to bed at 8pm. I sat on the lounge with our son watching TV, changing him and feeding him ONLY as needed. Changed and fed him at 2am, then put him in his cot and went to bed myself. He woke up at 4am needing to be changed and fed, but my wife had got a solid 8 hours of sleep, and I slept through it. We kept this system going until he was sleeping through the night at only 3 1/2 months, and neither of us suffered from sleep deprivation.

Not gaming related, though I do my fair share of that too, but I remember using my time with baby as an opportunity to watch all the movies that my ex-wife wouldn't watch with me. Tagging myself and the baby on Facebook as "feeling excited", watching "The Predator".

Same for me I can only get on COD if she’s asleep in my arms and I either woke up before mom or she’s also taking a nap.

Aw yeah. When my son was born in May, I spent some glorious afternoons on my leave playing TotK with him asleep on my chest. Heaven. I would look up and joke with my wife: “I don’t see what’s so goddamn hard about this parenting bit!” Now my son is 8 months and I haven’t played the game since August. Sorry, Zelda, we’ll come find you someday.

Weird thought: I’ve gotten really good at playing Call of Duty while holding a baby, and that is a life skill I will never need to use again.
