I'm obsessive about my wife's pants being hung correctly to maintain a crease. Probably because I don't get to wear fancy clothes and must live vicariously through her.
My 2nd is only 2, and the first is 6. I already feel that way about Mr. Gizmo (gremlins reference, of course) to how his sister was. I also think he has that Alex Honolond thing where all of his brain developed just fine, maybe a little exceptionally in some areas, at cost to his amygdala......
Side note/dad joke: my grandfather was going blind in his later years (macular degeneration) and announced proudly that his optometrist declared him “an immaculate degenerate”
I used to joke that my kid was very kidnapable because he was adorable and super friendly and trusting.
Now that he’s almost 7, I’m pretty sure the kidnapper wouldn’t make it more than about a block before kicking him out of the van
And? Explain the need for validation of his pride from COMPLETE STRANGERS on a public forum with 1.2 million members. You have no idea who has access to your child’s photo now and what manipulation they can end up doing with it. Even if remote, what’s the point of taking any amount of risk for this post?
Congratulations. We have 15 years to go with our oldest. And this is what I wish for. Children growing up happy, confident, feeling loved. Not every day will be a good day, but let them find their own personality and learn how to deal with challenges on the way.
Congratulations!! This is honestly a crowning achievement.
Also - just want to say - I'm really glad to see more dads of older kids posting things in here amongst all the new dads or younger kid dads.
It's good to see the light at the end of the tunnel on the bad days and glean wisdom from those who's kids are similar age to mine or older.
And just for any of those that need hope. I was heavily addicted to opiates from 17 to 25. I’m 35 now with a beautiful family and a great job.
There is hope if your kid is going through it. Don’t enable them. But also, don’t ever give up on them.
I say fight them hard on the piercings but concede eventually, that way they'll feel like they've rebelled against you and be less compelled to do hard drugs
This is how parenting works, right?
Yeah I mean you can't really tell when you take it out so it's whatever to me
At least it's not a stick-and-poke tattoo, some of my friends still have them from their teenage years
Time is passing, time comes yet,
All is old, and all is new;
What for good or ill is set
You can ponder and construe;
Do not hope and do not worry,
What’s a wave, will wave away;
Though enticing with a flurry,
Cold remain to all they say.
Many things pass by before us,
Many things we hear and see,
Who remembers all their ruckus
And would listen to their plea?…
You sit quiet ‘round the edges,
Find yourself, despite their fret,
While you hear their noisy pledges,
Time is passing, time comes yet.
It's reddit. I'm sure the percentage of piercings is like, quadruple that of the general population. Just like you have to pick your battles with your children, you have to pick your battles with redditors. Take your downvotes as a badge of honor and know most folks on the street agree with you.
Fashion trends change over time.
In the late 90s and 2000s, Britney and Beyonce had made belly button piercings really popular. Then they went out of fashion for a while.
Then it was all about emo fringes and lip rings.
Nose rings are popular now, but who's to say what teenagers will want in ten years time?
"Dad can I get the AI virtual assistant implant? I need the one with the hologram projector! All my friends have it...I swear it will help with school...."
Dude posted a photo of his daughter, in a group that's basically only populated by dads. You told him his daughter is hot. That's not a thing you should be saying about people's daughters in this subreddit, it's creepy.
The guy said he didn't know why people were angry, I paraphrased what he said to clarify how it was received by all the people who downvoted him. I know he didn't use the word "hot," and "good looking" might not be synonymous, but it's close enough to make people uncomfortable.
Oh, i was just trying to be nice and say good things about his daughter thats all. And no, im not sexually attracted to a kid. Anyways i thought people love it when other compliments their children. TBH, since he post his child photo up here, i thought he might wanted us to compliment her? Anyways now i know telling other people kids they are good looking is inappropriate. NOTED.
No worries, dude. I might have been a little harsh with you. Another thing I would say is that it is usually considered inappropriate to ask (and I am paraphrasing here) "what's up with your daughters face tattoo?" On a post about a guy celebrating his daughter turning 18.
Congrats! Too bad about the first one though.
“To shreds, you say?”
"And what about his wife? To shreds you say... tsktsktsktsktsk"
This is what I come here for.
The pants are ironed correctly I give that a 10.
I was gonna say, I dig the slacks
I order no break but to each his own.
37m.... Better than I can do
I'm obsessive about my wife's pants being hung correctly to maintain a crease. Probably because I don't get to wear fancy clothes and must live vicariously through her.
Mine is 7, and I'm pretty sure he's going to own his own law firm or run whatever jail they locked him up in.
I didn’t realize we could brag about that. My 5th just turned 18- no serious degenerates in the group.
Mine just turned 3 and is as degenerate as they come!
Well, if he can't be stopped, make him the best degen I guess. Can't beat em join em
We mustn't beat them, that's illegal.
So join them. Revel in degeneracy with your child as your partner debates their life choices.
I beat mine in Mario Cart all the time. Should I call the cops on myself?
Depends on your mockery afterwards.
An endzone dance that would get me thrown off the field?
Well, just make sure he doesn't start hanging out with jivin' Pete. Degens from up country are nothing to fool around with.
My 3rd turns 3 this week, and he is a menace to society. But simultaneously, the sweetest boy. How do you explain that??
It’s tricky isn’t it. Everyone says that they have the best one, but I actually have the best one so that’s been quite lucky actually
Congrats on being the best dad ever. I have that title in my family, but I bet you have it for yours ;)
I love the specific description of "SERIOUS degenerates".
We're all minor degenerates here.
We're just normal men.
You absolutely can and should! Good job dad
One could argue reddit use equals degeneracy...
Side note/dad joke: my grandfather was going blind in his later years (macular degeneration) and announced proudly that his optometrist declared him “an immaculate degenerate”
Hope he replied with "not possible... I got kids"
Maybe we are the degenerates all along.
My boys are 22 and 20, no degenerates unless you count the 22 year old mechanic with tatts and a mullet.
I salute you.
I feel like they're about to give the keynote on the latest Apple product
As long as she's not [shilling fake blood tests ....](https://www.britannica.com/biography/Elizabeth-Holmes)
Are they happy? Do they love you? Yes or usually to both? Consider yourself victorious!
Nice work. +10 validation.
nice one! I hope my 2-year-old gets to 18 relatively unscathed. Will follow up in 2040. 🤙🤙
Jesus, now you made me think about what year it will be when my kids are 18. That's scary
2045 here. F***
My oldest is only 6, but zero abductions so far
I used to joke that my kid was very kidnapable because he was adorable and super friendly and trusting. Now that he’s almost 7, I’m pretty sure the kidnapper wouldn’t make it more than about a block before kicking him out of the van
Hah, I thought that was your wife and she made it past 18 weeks of pregnancy. Congratulations either way! I've got 17 years to go over here xD.
So with all your experience next one should be faster, right? Maybe you will be able to quickly deliver it only in 9 years?
Just put more Dads on the project.
You did it!
That doesn’t look like a lemur
The first rule of lemur dadding is we do not talk about lemur dadding.
Is it a bunch of lemurs inside a rubber suit? You know, one controlling the arms, standing on the shoulders of the lemur controlling the legs 🤔
But why post them online? That’s weird.
Yeah, posting a pic of your kid on Reddit is always odd (no matter the age). This isn't Facebook/Instagram.
Agree 100%. What’s the point of this post except to invade their privacy?
Presuming it’s with permission, cause he’s proud?
And? Explain the need for validation of his pride from COMPLETE STRANGERS on a public forum with 1.2 million members. Congrats! You look super young here for having a second 18-year old btw. This is why we stay preaching a face-washing routine, boys.
This is a really supportive sub, but there is no way I would post pictures of my kids on reddit no matter how old they are
Absolutely. Don’t understand it either.
Congratulations. We have 15 years to go with our oldest. And this is what I wish for. Children growing up happy, confident, feeling loved. Not every day will be a good day, but let them find their own personality and learn how to deal with challenges on the way.
Congratulations. Half way there with two of mine. So far so good. Here’s hope we survive the teen years without too many battle scars.
Just got one to 6, so 1/3 of the way there then time for a break.
Congrats! It can be such a scary journey. Our first is about to be back from their first year at college. It's an amazing feeling watching them grow.
She looks like she's cool.
And they have mad style too. Congratulations!
Good job!
Primary mission accomplished: raise a non-asshole
Custom clothing professional dad here - kiddo nailed it here. Excellent parenting!
Congratulations!! This is honestly a crowning achievement. My daughter is 4 and she’s already way smarter than me. How worried do I need to be?
Mine just hit 3 months and I'm not sure sure about him...
Any advice?
🐐
What's that in her nose?
She looks bit like my Baldurs Gate 3 character 😅 Congrats on achievement(?)
Your daughter kinda looks like Britta from community. Well done, you have earned a beer 😀
How many times did you have to reboot the system to avoid crashes, RAM, or glitch issues?
Congrats to you, thats a big achievement.
And just for any of those that need hope. I was heavily addicted to opiates from 17 to 25. I’m 35 now with a beautiful family and a great job. There is hope if your kid is going through it. Don’t enable them. But also, don’t ever give up on them.
Are pleats coming back?!
Make sure you let the first child know then post to AITA because …… yeah to your first, you kinda are
Are u sure?
MI BOMBOCLAT
Nice work…but nose ring? Why is everyone doing the nose ring?
Man, teenagers, amirite?
Ikr, my 12 year old wants a nose ring and my 15y got his done last week, I don't see the appeal but what ever makes them happy
Yeah, I’m thinking through which battles I want to fight… Good luck Super-Bartender-Man
I say fight them hard on the piercings but concede eventually, that way they'll feel like they've rebelled against you and be less compelled to do hard drugs This is how parenting works, right?
Yeah I mean you can't really tell when you take it out so it's whatever to me At least it's not a stick-and-poke tattoo, some of my friends still have them from their teenage years
It's so you can hitch them to a post outside the bar
Trends. Or current brainwashing. What was yours? Back in the day? 🤣
I can’t remember, but as a dad, I’m really proud of myself for my comment getting downvoted…It’s so fun being uncool.

What's with the pants? Are these popular? They seem out of place to my old eyes.
People have been wearing pants for years
The most I can manage is maybe three days before I have to change, and I work from home.
Very bygone era
One could be a fluke, two can't! Congratulations!
Nice job, Joe Jackson.
Your face doesn't Match with your clothes
No offense but i wonder did she get some kind of tattoo on her chin? Btw, shes a good looking daugther
there's always one
FFS, learn to read the room dipshit. Not appropriate.
I have no idea why everyone is mad at me?
Dude posted a photo of his daughter, in a group that's basically only populated by dads. You told him his daughter is hot. That's not a thing you should be saying about people's daughters in this subreddit, it's creepy.
He said "good looking daughter," you translated that to "hot."
