Ngl. Read the title. And was like aw hell yea. Get the classic low boys. Then reading kicked in.

HoopOnPoop

I was 1/2 step from starting an argument that Chucks > Vans until I read everything.

UnCaminoHastaVos

No, don't let us stop you. I want to hear this.

guitarguywh89

I have wider feet now. No way I can fit into chucks like the old days

blewnote1

They make chucks in a wide and they're ok for my flippers. Think you're limited to one or two colors but what can you do.

guitarguywh89

I’m okay with the colors since I always just like the black ones. thanks for the tip!

hippopotamus82

If you’re willing to pay almost twice the price (after the typical discount codes) , you can get a fully customized pair of chucks in wide

heyarkay

Came here for the shoes, left with the blues

captain_flak

I was 100% on that too. It was the choice to capitalize Vans that did it.

RampagingNudist

Ultraranges all the way.

Synthetic_Hormone

Toyota sienna and Honda Odyssey are the only options.

etharis

Agreed. Went with a 2020 sienna. Won't look back. But you can't go wrong with a similar Honda.

jsmit6

How is a Kia Carnival not in the discussion? Mine is absolutely amazing and I got it for 10k less than a Sienna with similar options

ragnarokda

That's what I was considering. I feel like Kia has come a long way in the last decade.

Synthetic_Hormone

Kia has admittedly come a long way.  But when I rented one a year ago it had nothing but problems.  No engine or drive train issues.  But a seat was derailed on the track and couldn't move and a side passenger door had a broken gear and power doors didn't work.   Are these deal breakers? No of course not, but it seems to not hold up to abuse.   Also, the electronics system is not nearly as reputable as the Japanese systems.

Wurm42

Hey, we're car shopping now and looking hard at the Carnival. Can you tell me more about your experience with it? I've never thought about buying a Kia before, but Consumer Reports loves the Carnival, and there's so much space inside.

Mysterious-Arachnid9

My wife just traded in her Genesis for a Hyundai. I will most likely trade in my Lexus for a Kia. They look luxurious and are well equipped. They just don't feel quite as nice as the main luxury brands. Which is reflected in the price.

jsmit6

I replied to someone else's comment.

kumaku

dude long term review when you can please!

jsmit6

So I've had mine since December 2022 and am more impressed with it now than when I bought it. We (wife, daughter (4.5) and son (1.5) just took this on a 600 mile round trip and the vans options REALLY helped out. We keep the third row folded down because we still need a stroller, a wagon, and apparently 5 suitcases for a 3 day vacation. The middle seat in the second row is where my wife sits, flanked by each kid. She was able to slide that seat back and out of the way when not needed, or when the older one was having a temper tantrum. I WISH we would have went with the entertainment package, but it was slim-pickings when we bought our van and ours was the only one that could be delivered within 6 weeks. They offered us a $2,500 aftermarket entertainment package but it wasn't the same quality so we passed. The van has enough power, fuel milage is decent enough and has ample room inside. I love that I can take ALL of the rear seats completely out of the vehicle (although they are heavy). That comes in handy after a long trip with meltdowns and thrown crackers and just general toddler funk. The ONLY issue I have with it lies solely with the shitty dealership I got it from. They are the only choice in town for them, and they are the rudest and least helpful people you will find. I had a recall, scheduled the recall visit and take my van in... They didn't have the part needed, and they told me about it 24 hours after I had dropped the van off. So I rescheduled... same EXACT thing. So I skipped the recall.

kumaku

ty for the insight. i see theyre doing a hybrid soon. this is definitely in my radar

felix_mateo

Chrysler Pacifica is fantastic. The PHEV version has an iffy powertrain but it’s so much nicer than the Odyssey or Sienna. Kia Carnival is also really nice, although the darker ones look like hearses.

Synthetic_Hormone

"iffy power train" and "Looks likes hearses". Thanks for the stellar reviews

Pork_Chompk

It looks like a hearse to signify your dead social life.

K

felix_mateo

Just being honest lol. I bought a Pacifica PHEV knowing the issues because it just feels so much more premium than the Odyssey or Sienna.

ArbaAndDakarba

Any issues experienced 1st hand so far?

MinuteBull

No issues with ours through 50k. We love it! I get gas about 6 times a year outside of road trips.

felix_mateo

No issues for us but we only have about 2k miles on it, so far. I’m proud to say that 70% of those miles have been on the battery and we’ve only had to get gas twice since we bought the car a few months ago.

Fatigue-Error

Used to drive an Odyssey, until it was totaled. We all still miss it. Great engine. Super comfy. So much room for road trips and trips to Home Depot. I would not regret owning another one.

rexregisanimi

Made the mistake of buying a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country. Never again.

Synthetic_Hormone

Tuition of life

razor6string

A couple plus three or more kids equals third row seating. That immediately narrows things *way* down. Minivans dominate the remaining options. We have the Dodge just because that's the deal we found at the time, but any minivan will suffice. Stigma? My grandfather was an early adopter of the minivan in the '80s. He was at Normandy in '44. Manliest man I ever knew. There is no stigma.

Lopsided_Flounder239

Toyota Sienna!!! AWD, reliable, super comfy, easy to park, and I once had me, 3 kids, 10 large light fixtures and 4 2x 4s in it with no problem.

ClimberInTheMist

Yup. Lurking mom but posting on my husband's behalf. This is the one. The AWD ensures it will be adventure vehicle in addition to dad mobile.

doebedoe

I’ve had my Sienna lifted for last 70k miles, and have a removable camper setup. It rocks.

househosband

I have to wonder how good the AWD is. It's hybrid AWD, so only electric power to the rear, and not a whole lot of it. I wonder how it deals with slip conditions, and if it emulates diffs in some fashion. I'm firmly in the camp that tires > AWD any day. Of course, tires with proper AWD (for ex, not like Hondas old stuff where the rear would just give up if too much slip on the front) is best, but situations where you need that are far fewer. I'm pretty set on the Odyssey because Honda and V6, but the AWD in Sienna keeps me curious about it

mark_s

I went with a Honda odyssey in 2017 and haven't regretted it once. We checked out the Pacifica, grand caravan, and sienna. In the end it came down to the odyssey or sienna and I've always been partial to Hondas. I love the fact that I can use it like a truck or haul 8 kids/adults comfortably. We've done a few road trips with two adults, 3 kids, 2 dogs, and camping gear and still had some room to spare. Turning radius is great, it feels like driving a car.

BMGreg

I drive a Honda Odyssey and it's very comfortable. Just rented a Chrysler Pacifica for a couple days and it was also very comfortable. I prefer their "adaptive cruise" as it actually keeps you at the speed you set (vs. going over the set speed on downhills or if you lower the cruise speed). My parents drove a Sienna like 15 years ago and it was also comfortable. I really like the rotating seats in the Kia carnival. Quite honestly, any minivan will probably be a solid choice. The automatic sliding doors are absolutely amazing, especially if you use the remote to open them before getting to the car

Skurry

Honestly any of the current four minivans that are available in the US are fine. They all have slight advantages and disadvantages. I'm personally holding out for the hybrid KIA carnival that's supposed to come this summer.

TheRavenSayeth

Currently my favorite too. I think it's like 30 mpg which is great for a van.

doebedoe

Sienna gets that out better in its current generation

YummyTerror8259

The magic slide feature in the newer Honda odysseys is amazing. It makes it so much easier to buckle kids in the back row

Individual_Holiday_9

I love the odyssey because it just feels like a straight up VAN. Nothing fancy. Looks nice. Drives well I wish it had a hybrid that’s my only issue. The gas mileage is brutal when there’s phev and hybrid options out there

YummyTerror8259

Yeah 18 mpg is not my favorite

AlienDelarge

The flexibility of the seating in the current Odyssey is really impressive. I also greatly appreciate an actual spare tire. Maybe because I grew up in a first gen Voyager and was left on the side of the road more than a few times, not always for the tires.

JackBNimble33

I totally read this as you were looking for the right shoe model.

AlienDelarge

We might need a new thread for that because I already bought the car but all my shoes are falling apart.

Dense-Bee-2884

I drove a Sienna back and forth to Vegas and it was a very comfortable and spacious ride. I can recommend that.

TheRavenSayeth

Sienna feels like the way to go from most reviews I've read. The Kia Carnival looks pretty nice though.

dexter8484

The 2025 carnival will have a hybrid option also

CharlieBirdlaw

Siena is also very safe.

Kabuo

Idk where you are, but sienna was our top choice when a tree fell on our old car. We went to four nearby Toyota dealers and there were 0 on the lot. At least near Louisville, you have to order these ahead of time.

Inevitable_Farm_7293

Toyota sienna full loaded - only right answer. Bought one last year and I love it. Honorable mention for Chrysler Pacifica

PizzaNipz

If only they weren’t 50k brand new

SvenoftheWoods

Yup. Vans used to be cheap, but since the car market went bonkers they're right up there too. That's the main reason we went the imported JDM route as it's the only affordable way to get a sensible vehicle without a ton of mileage (at least here in Canada anyway).

PizzaNipz

Makes sense. I’m just flummoxed that for the same price of my buddy’s BMW M series, is a hybrid mini van.

ArbaAndDakarba

You're allowed to drive a RHD vehicle in Canada?

jcutta

Chrysler Pacifica was the worst vehicle I've ever owned, I had the last model before they retired it awhile back before the return as a full van.

Inevitable_Farm_7293

When was this? It’s recent models has rave reviews.

jcutta

Like 2012ish it was the last model they made before the redesign. I am totally soured on the model regardless of the current one personally.

ComprehensivePin6097

I got the Pacifica in 2017 because I liked how the seats folded all the way into the van and didn't have to take them out. I did not like the entertainment system.

AlienDelarge

We went with a Honda Pilot for various reasons, but unless you see a need for the ground clearance and AWD, I'd go for a van. I liked the Odyssey far better than the Sienna but the hybrid fuel economy, higher ground clearance, and AWD option sure is nice. I've looked at a couple of used Siennas that gave me pause regarding their durability. The 3rd row access and rear facing second row access left me rather dissapointed after looking at the Odyssey first. Due to past experience, I don't trust anything Chrysler related and just didn't look at the Kia van.

Dependent_World1232

Toyota Sienna is what we got in 2022. Was the only AWD hybrid on the van market at the time. And honestly man, once you load a kid into the van with that sliding door, you'll never go back. Enjoy and welcome.

congradulations

Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid. Excellent gad milage, SO MUCH ROOM, great family trip features like USB ports everywhere and comfy seats. Plugging it in gives a free 30 miles every time you start

doctor48

Pacifica hybrid bc you can run errands on electric and then still be able to do long distance drives or stay out all day if needed. Worth every penny. We fill up our tank once a month.

doctor48

That has not been my experience.

ArbaAndDakarba

Pacifica all-electric range is like 32 miles. Pretty fantastic. [https://www.chrysler.com/pacifica/hybrid/hybrid101.html](https://www.chrysler.com/pacifica/hybrid/hybrid101.html)

wherethehellareya

Not sure what country you're in, but in Australia we have the Kia Carnival can and for a van it looks bloody awesome. Definitely the coolest van I've seen.

berg_schaffli

Low stripes. I really like how long the soles last, and they’ve got classic styling. I could generally use a bit more arch support, but you can get aftermarket insoles. That being said, converse all stars fit my wide foot better. So they may be an option for you, too

DoubleTeeOh

The Volkswagen ID Buzz is coming out soon, if you want another option.

DefenderOfSquirrels

I’m holding out for this! My POS hatchback has got to make it one more year. And that orange creamsicle one is mine 😎

WavesOverBarcelona

I would take the Kia Carnival. My folks got one, it drives smoothly and the size isn't an issue with that overhead view interface they have for navigating tight spots.

MrSlippyfist421

I was sold on Honda odyssey’s by Marty Byrd

CW-Eight

AWD Transit, to carry all _your_ toys 😂

That-Guy-In-Blue

2015 Kia Sedona here. Just hit 104,000 miles yesterday and have not had a single problem with it. Not one. It has held up to the wear and tear of being the family hauler beautifully. I have only replaced the battery, wiper blades, and headlight bulbs in the last 10 years. If it died tomorrow, I would replace it with a 2025 Carnival in a heartbeat.

onyourrite

If you need AWD, Sienna has it standard

mlouthain

We've had a couple of Siennas (2004 and now a 2018) and I have no complaints. Solid vehicles, and we have a trustworthy independent mechanic nearby that specializes in Toyotas.

Assswordsmantetsuo

Both Chrysler Pacifica and Toyota Sienna offer AWD versions. The Sienna is a hybrid to boot and gets 30+mpg. The Pacifica isn’t available as both hybrid and AWD. One or the other.

fantumn

The Pacifica can also come with an integrated vacuum.

[deleted]

https://youtu.be/ivRj0wa_opc?si=3uo5ojG2hWGZ40MX oops I dropped this here....

househosband

I really wish souped up versions of minivans were a thing. Another great on is the Hyundai iMax N "Drift" Van prototype. I'd be first in line for that thing! After all, things like Ford Escape ST (lol sport trim on a truck) are a thing. Honda Odyssey Type R, lets go

[deleted]

The sad part is Honda Odyssey, fully trimmed out are stupid expensive... Just add an extra 50,000 for a type r.

househosband

Ugh, yeah! I can't imagine it actually being affordable in any sense of the word. In general, perhaps because they are Hondas, Odysseys carry high prices, even used. I really don't want to spend a ton on one. I also meant Explorer ST, not Escape. Escape's still silly, but that's the little guy. I keep seeing this chungus of a truck around with ST badging. Still cranky the Focus ST was killed to be replaced by land-barges with the mocking "ST" badge.

[deleted]

I don't put much stock in to trucks anymore considering I have an old S10 with an extended bed which makes it 8 ft which makes it anywhere from 4 ft to on track with most full size truck size beds and with as much towing as it doesn't have compared not a lot of big trucks these days are towing anything other than people. I tend to look at the more practical side when it comes to buying a vehicle a base model Odyssey is still better than any other manufacturers minivans. so I tend to look at what it has in a mini van as opposed to power acceleration all that other meaningless stuff for a minivan. any extra comforts you can get at a junkyard and install them pretty easily considering it's the same chassis. But that's just me 😁

househosband

True. I don't expect a minivan to be some sort of super car either. The whole reason I'm looking at minivans is family practicality. I do want the drive to be somewhat engaging, which presumably Odyssey is very good at, for a minivan.

AdministrativeAir688

We have a ‘11 Sienna and love it. Fits anything we want it too and it’s a nice comfy ride

AngryIrish82

After our third. AND LAST, we got the Honda odyssey. I hate admitting to driving fb a minivan but it is so functional and roomy.

masonjar11

We bought a Honda Odyssey Elite, and it is, by far, the nicest vehicle I've ever owned.

dasmittyman

Love our Kia carnival prestige 23. Wouldn’t touch a Stellantis product with a 10 foot pole. Rented one and it was horrible. Honda has been the gold standard but seems they have gotten complacent in the last couple of years . Personal opinion but I don’t like the look of the sienna, hated the Prius and just don’t consider Toyotas as a contender.

Birdman7399

Odyssey for the win

sortof_here

Man, I want a van so bad. Doesn't help that our current car is full on dying right now. If I could get one, I'd get a 2022 Toyota Sienna or later. I drove one a couple years back and drove from San Diego to Yuma and back with it. It was a joy to drive and my wife, who usually gets car sick on that drive, didn't. Despite learning to drive with a larger car, I've never been very comfortable driving them, so I was surprised that I could enjoy it. Based on my experience with my 2013 Hyundai Elantra falling apart shy of 100k miles and the whole "stealable with a USB" thing applying to all of their cars for around a decade, I recommend against getting a Hyundai or Kia.

jeffreyhyun

Toyota sienna cause Toyota. My mom's friend's husband has a sienna on wildpeak at3's and a 3" lift. I'm kind of in love with it but my wife won't let me get a minivan. He also chooses to drive that over his Range Rover, 911, and x-type.

Serpacorp

DO NOT GET A KIA. I realize how obnoxious caps are but owning a KIA Sedona has been the single worst experience of my life. It had constant problems and it drives like shit. Bought in 2019 and as of 6 months ago it’s had 4 engine replacements (each including the trans) due to recalls. Everything breaks on it. Besides the engine: windshield washer bottle, windshield wiper motor, lower front axle, both control arms as different points, AC condenser and other stuff that I can’t remember. I’m eyeing up a Honda odyssey. The Kia is my wife’s but I have a 2010 Honda element with 225k miles on it and have had no issues. You can’t kill that thing.

dw_pirate

Sienna.

KingLuis

not much of a van person. don't see the appear unless its purely for moving people or things (work van). i would say that the pacific and caravans will most likely cause you major issues first. of course many will say theirs has been great but from friends and family who's owned them, they've had powertrain issues. (my brother quite literately dropped the trans on the highway on his work van). honda and toyota are your best bets. both solid options. also, the big thing about suv's over vans is the ground clearance and better vehicle balance/handling, which makes them better to drive. (also depends who you ask. many would say their kia soul handles really well and is amazing to drive). also, side note, for the redditors who think suvs and pick ups are heavy vs a van, please do your research, they are closer than you think in weight. odyssey vs explorer are a couple hundred pounds difference. certain options added or removed on both can make them equal. pick ups are about the same depending on options again.

HelsinkiTorpedo

Got a Honda Odyssey back in 2022, love this thing. It has been fantastic all around. My folks drove a 2008 Odyssey from '08 until last fall. They're great vans

DocLego

We bought a Sienna in 2018 and have been very happy with it. For a while we were hauling around 6 people in it. Pretty soon there'll be an electric option (the VW Buzz) but I guess it only has a 220/250 mile range.

The Kia Carnival feels like this, except it has sliding doors which is a great perk with kids.

Serpacorp

I wonder if the downvotes are from jaded Kia owners. I bought a Kia Sedona right before the pandemic and it’s been horrible. I hate it so much. So many problems. It could be just the model I bought but I’m pretty sure I’d never buy a Kia ever again.

pantalonesgigantesca

Is that one of the models you can drive with a screwdriver or usb cable too? The Kia boys target?

Serpacorp

What?

pantalonesgigantesca

I guess consider yourself lucky. So the answer is yes. https://www.reddit.com/r/kia/s/QgwDOO1VA4 Andrew/Channel 5 did a documentary on it. Here’s the trailer https://youtu.be/f2S29REijD4?si=6tvbpu5AS1qBQJ-N TLDR unless your kia has the update you can steal it with a screwdriver or usb key and kids do this for fun

Serpacorp

No kidding!? Honestly I wish someone would steal it. This things a shitbox 😂

The_Brightness

Had the Dodge. Trans went out at 110k miles. Neighbors did the same. Would buy again but get rid of it before 100k miles.  Sienna was about $10k than similar optioned Odyssey. Odyssey rides like a car, Dodge rode like a truck, just didn't realize it.

sHaDowpUpPetxxx

Sienna is a beast in the snow

Individual_Holiday_9

This is asked like 4 times. a week in here

Serpacorp

Wait so more than one person has this question?
