Not defending any side here, but technically intros and outros don’t count as fair use. If it is (let’s say) a game theory video, and they did the Minecraft music discs video, they can do 10 seconds of the clip to prove their point. That is fair use, not intros and outros
i mean, it an intro. nobody watches a video for an intro, albeit a cringy one ironically. plus, intros arent really that long, so it should be fair use if ubder 5 seconds.
Sadly YouTube doesn't get to decide what's fair use. According to DMCA law they are required to remove or block content even on an accusation. The court is then supposed to decide, but it rarely if ever gets to that stage.
Sitting on their asses, rolling up blunts using multiple 100$ bills, burning money away, and watching the world in an inferno of rage towards them while knowing that no one can do anything to them because they're rich. More money equals more power in this modern day. Once they felt their amusement, they tease the Creators a bit more by introducing more "fixes" before sitting in the background again and watching as the fire grows more.
huh? I consider myself left-leaning and I'm constantly bombarded with Fox "news" recommendations and other conservative channels like Crowder and PragerU. And if I click on any such video I'll get recommended those "feminist rekt" videos. I've been recommended content from people like James Allsup. I had no idea who he was until I clicked on his video. He's a conservative with literal white nationalist views. So any notion that YT censors conservative voices seems BS to me when I'm constantly exposed to them. On top of that liberal channels like Secular Talk are also demonetized constantly, so I don't know how any bias can be proven here.
The only issue here is that the YT algorithm recommends you what you like, so you are likely going to fall into an echo chamber regardless of where you are on the political spectrum if you don't actively try to see what people on the "other side" are saying.
Conservative views just happen to often involve racism/sexism/etc (I’m not saying all conservatives are racist or whatever, just that most racists are conservative.)
Maybe it's just me but YouTube has always hit political shows, from TYT to RS. And I frequently get that trash PragerU recommended (although of course you can't see a trend from one anecdote).
While it’s stupid and retarded that they do it, YouTube doesn’t run themselves on a platform of letting people of all views express themselves anymore, so unfortunately it’s perfectly within their TOS
I see. All I can tell you is that Liberals are also getting shitcanned. I've experienced it. I can't make you believe me, but trust me, YouTube is suppressing all politics that is not owned by a major company.
Just know liberalism and leftism is totally different, I'm ok with liberals and I know their content gets taken down but not so with leftists and major companies which are mostly leftist
That doesn't really seem too bad, don't most Youtubers mention they constantly find themselves attached to Socialblade whenever they bring up burnout?
I get there's some fear for creators not being able to view the numbers, but Youtube already does a great job of presenting a creators own analytics apparently. Just means that creators don't have a massive wall of data telling them to do the same trends as everyone else, and encourages experimenting with new ideas and just seeing what happens.
The only downside I can really see is that we as viewers don't have as much transparency with the numbers, and content creators will have to adapt to using Youtubes platform and rely less on existing detailed analytics pages?
They are gonna do it
https://support.google.com/youtube/thread/6543166
It seems it's affected very little channels or none (cause I haven't seen one yet) but they are gonna do it.
They've *kinda* done it on mobile, the way it works is: if you load the description on mobile you see the exact sub count, if you don't, you just see something like: 13.3 million
*cough*
#**Guilty until proven innocent system that takes away a person’s income as soon as a company makes any claim, no matter the validity**
*cough*
Companies were literally having job postings for manual reviewers. Because they could make 60k a year doing tons of manual claims, but only pay a 30k salary.
We should advertise Reddit on YouTube so people can have two venues of entertainment.
Then we can organize a large enough boycott so YouTube will have to comply with the people’s demands or face bankruptcy.

Their copystrike claims system is still bs, when they fix the system for making a copyright claim and fix their verification of that claim, then it will be better
Sadly YouTube censors conservative content and auto demonitizes LGBT content amidst other issues with the platform itself. At least it's a step in the right direction-
Even though it’s a step in the right direction, this isn’t going to do much good in terms of cutting back on unjust claims. The majority of these types of claims mentioned are autoclaimed by a bot, not manually done... still progress though, hope they follow it up with something a bit more useful
Don't suck them of for this or even give them a single hint of praise it took them four years to do something that should've been done a long ass time ago they don't even deserve a "good job", fuck you Youtube.
I think that if the copyright owner do the strike, is bad for them, just imagine if a 1 million subscribers dude/girl use that as background, at least 1 of that million wouldn't know what song is and ask for it, and then go and check out the owner's channel, did I make myself clear?
I mean it's good that they're taking steps to fix the system but this doesn't sound like it's actually going to help a lot, companies are still going to ignore fair use and and it sounds like refuting claims is still going to be useless.
Anyone remember the good old days of YouTube when anyone could throw a song in there video or something and just say that they weren’t trying to copy it or anything
I have a theory that they intentionally fuck up everything so when they finally do something good everyone is satisfied. Cant lower expectations if its low from the start
That'd be great. If it fixed the problem. Content Creators can still get demonetized for 5 seconds of audio, but the difference now is that UMG cant monetize it for themselves.
Yeah this is ~~big~~ normal-sized brain time

True, but if Mumbo Jumbo posts a video with an intro I always watch that. His intro and outro are amazing
yeah, but u dont watch the video for the intro, u watch for the redstone
True
What scares me is the fact you used to be able to copyright someone for car noises
Some company took sounds from unboxing video without speech and then they claimed the video.
Well he did have copyright problems because of that into so...
That isn't the spirit of the law, as fair use has been defined. An intro is not transformative, criticism, or historically relevant.
Sadly YouTube doesn't get to decide what's fair use. According to DMCA law they are required to remove or block content even on an accusation. The court is then supposed to decide, but it rarely if ever gets to that stage.
Shouldn't it be in the unintentionally played music part?
This is mega sized mind time
More like about fuckin time.
Well they aren’t being retarded so that’s a good sign
They are, see how long it took before they did it
im sure they had reasons right? like shit behind the scenes we dont know, preventing them from doing it?
Sitting on their asses, rolling up blunts using multiple 100$ bills, burning money away, and watching the world in an inferno of rage towards them while knowing that no one can do anything to them because they're rich. Team youtube would never burn money! They’re too greedy
When you have so much money that you neglect the people that give you your money, you might as well be burning money.
You seem to have missed the joke
All hail chancellor Susan.
Shhhh just enjoy it
Yeah for once
I mean it took them what 2 years to learn a simple concept
Much longer than that my friend
Still the bad guy for trying to shut down conservative views
bUt tRuMp iS *bAd* I don't really swing either way, but any side to political discourse should have equal platforms, as long as that can be helped
I agree, I would never try to silence someone with a different opinion
I’m a bit left wing but I agree both sides should have equal platforms and should be able to be equally voiced.
That's annoying, but the algorithms are shit anyway
How on earth does one acquire this flair?
On the desktop site you can edit flairs to whatever you please.
love the flair.

Just conservative stuff in general? Or specific channels/types of videos?
Mainly specific stuff but I just watched a conservative based yt video that was age restricted and had nothing vile or sexual in it
Conservative views just happen to often involve racism/sexism/etc (I’m not saying all conservatives are racist or whatever, just that most racists are conservative.)
Most true racists deserve to be bitch slapped, don't associate racists with conservatives bc most all of us will condemn them
Maybe it's just me but YouTube has always hit political shows, from TYT to RS.
They shut down Liberal views as well. It's just that the Conservatives are more vocal about it.
It's mostly conservatives and when it is leftist it violates a rule of YouTube's
What rule? As far as I can tell, YouTube doesn't like political channels or politics at all.
Rules such as vulgar language, sexual content, gory images, and much more. I think both sides should be held accountable but so far it isnt
Same with more right-wing companies like Fox and PragerU. I get their adds all the time. They just have money to throw around.
Prager u gets lots of videos copyright striken, age restricted, demonized and even taken down
Really? I thought you couldn't advertise if you get age restricted or have shit get taken down.

Tell mumbo
OH MY GOD
Can’t stop me intensifies
BRuh, what you doing digging so far back in time
Congrats Youtube, you gained a point by doing this, sadly you lost 14 points because of removing sub counts
THEY DID WHAT, no actually, idk what that means
No, they're just changing it so it says "13.3 Million" instead of the exact "13,337,884".
oh, thats sucks
Kind of, yeah. The biggest people it will hurt are socialblade (and other such sites that make detailed analytics).
They'll still get the analytics though? It's just an interface change on the site.

He's saying you can't see the number of people subscribed to an account
They didn't do that wtf
They are gonna do it https://support.google.com/youtube/thread/6543166 It seems it's affected very little channels or none (cause I haven't seen one yet) but they are gonna do it.
They've *kinda* done it on mobile, the way it works is: if you load the description on mobile you see the exact sub count, if you don't, you just see something like: 13.3 million
Wait, did they actually do this? I havent been on YT in a few weeks and this seems like the kind of thing they'd do
They are doing it soon, don’t know when but it’s gonna happen
MUMBO IS SAVED
Wait. YouTube good?
These are confusing times
YouTube bad. YouTube done one good thing, does not make up for YouTube many bad things
^(cough,) # False Claims ^(cough)
*cough* #**Guilty until proven innocent system that takes away a person’s income as soon as a company makes any claim, no matter the validity** *cough*
You mean „guilty until proven innocent“ or am i stupid? Edit: he corrected it
You’re right, I was tired
No, it's innocent until proven guilty
Nah, it says Manuel claims, so I think bot claims are still allowed
We will see if they wanna be the bad guy with the 2019 YouTube rewind
Companies can still block monetization, I guess there's less incentive now for a company to waste resources in this shit?
Companies were literally having job postings for manual reviewers. Because they could make 60k a year doing tons of manual claims, but only pay a 30k salary.

here is the honey, so where is the axe?
Sadly it is only for the manual claims, the real problem is automated claims by large copyright holders
*cough* UMG *cough*
*laughs in WMG*

Danker
Dankest
We did it boys, Warner Chapel is no more.
MUMBO CAN BRING HIS INTRO BACK
Same with pyrocynical
He doesn't have to use the shitty YouTube editor anymore and we can actually hear the last words of his vids
Still the bad guy until they stop burying conservative content
Fuck you Warner Chapel
We won, Mr. Stark
IS BEACHWALK SAVED ?
FINALLY!!!!
Why should monetisation still be blocked even if it’s unintentional?
Does this mean mumbo can get his intro back?!?
Yes
Thank god they did something good for once
I spent a solid 6minutes trying to figure out where the Billie Eilish reference was
Happy cake day
I think the he did it meme would work better here.
Still took to long
Yea but they still removed FilmicBox's channel. :(
You sons a botches actually did it!
Now we just need to fix the issue of the claimants being the judge, jury, and executioner.
Ok now youtube is less gay. but still gay thou but less
Huge!
Pyrocynical can fix his videos now
She pushed her feet across the board walk
No they still are bad guys
Who thinks this is because of teosgame
Their copystrike claims system is still bs, when they fix the system for making a copyright claim and fix their verification of that claim, then it will be better
But still not background music... the whole thing behind fair use is it’s fair use if you’re not trying to replace the original
They do something good then do something bad
Sadly YouTube censors conservative content and auto demonitizes LGBT content amidst other issues with the platform itself. At least it's a step in the right direction-
This is great! # Mumbo is waiting
Wait, so does that mean MumboJumbo can have his intro back?
Can somebody who understands youtube monetization terms help me understand what this means
A surprise to be sure... but a very very welcome one
MANUEL CLAIMS, ITS STILL BAD A LOT OF CLAIMS ARE FROM BOTS
Oh my god finally
I posted an Animation with about 5 seconds of Crazy Train, and the entire video got muted. Wtf is Youtube
F
This just in, the YouTube copyright team is now 1 day sober from crack cocaine.
yay pyro can use his old outro again
This was cuz of enes batur
I am going to be sure to include a lot of driving by cars that just happen to play music that fits the video in my videos now.
\#FreeMumbo
What about automatic claims though? I got an unlisted video claimed, UNLISTED
Sucks to be you
Even though it’s a step in the right direction, this isn’t going to do much good in terms of cutting back on unjust claims. The majority of these types of claims mentioned are autoclaimed by a bot, not manually done... still progress though, hope they follow it up with something a bit more useful
We won mr stark
I'm a badddddd guyyyyy
FUCKING FINALLY JESUS CHRIST
Throw back to that time I got a copyright strike because a fucking file with a song title was shown for like all of 2 seconds in my video.
*happy mumbo noises*
wow, Teos case actually did something
Its still stupid
It’s just because they realize if they keep up that other behavior they are gonna go broke
Mumbos intro gonna be back bois!!!
me: Impossible
Bout fucking time
Hell yeah
So that's the good news, where's the bad news? There's got to be more to this
They did it
Did you lot read the last paragraph? It's still a problem. That 5-second audio clip can still fuck your monetization.
OH YAY
Should they also ban news channels for spreading propaganda (excluding pew news)?
Bout damn time
Don't suck them of for this or even give them a single hint of praise it took them four years to do something that should've been done a long ass time ago they don't even deserve a "good job", fuck you Youtube.
I think that if the copyright owner do the strike, is bad for them, just imagine if a 1 million subscribers dude/girl use that as background, at least 1 of that million wouldn't know what song is and ask for it, and then go and check out the owner's channel, did I make myself clear?
They’re gonna need to do a lot more good to fix their mistakes
They are still the bad guys as the copyright system is fucking trash
does this mean crank that frank can make challenge videos again?
Got the sauce?
Uhh...did YouTube just do something to help creators? Someone should go check on Wojiski, she’s clearly not feeling right.
Ok but Mumbo Jumbo got demonitized for putting the word shit in his title, so maybe fix that bullshit too
I mean it's good that they're taking steps to fix the system but this doesn't sound like it's actually going to help a lot, companies are still going to ignore fair use and and it sounds like refuting claims is still going to be useless.
Report morgz guys
First step of destalinization has begun.
to me this sounds like some 3rd world country finally allowing women to drive
The passing cars things is probably because of bladed angel (if you don’t know he got claimed when he drove his own car)
And it only took a couple of years and hundreds of videos about that problem.
Too good to be true
Yeah but google did just swat one of their own employees that was about to turn them into an anti trust jurisdiction in just a few hours.
Anyone remember the good old days of YouTube when anyone could throw a song in there video or something and just say that they weren’t trying to copy it or anything
They won't enforce it though
But what about automatic claims?
It's still gonna be majorly abused by big companies..
>Unintentional audio (ex: music from passing cars) Did music companies *seriously* copyright strike people for that? Fucking greedy bastards.
So does that mean that Mumbo Jumbo's intro will come back???
You can thank this mostly to Angry Joe
Honestly this should be fair use anyway. Still an improvement though.
CinemaSins has to reupload everything AGAIN now
I have a theory that they intentionally fuck up everything so when they finally do something good everyone is satisfied. Cant lower expectations if its low from the start
That'd be great. If it fixed the problem. Content Creators can still get demonetized for 5 seconds of audio, but the difference now is that UMG cant monetize it for themselves.
Happy mumbo jumbo noises
