Because I was born in the wrong generation, they removed basic subsidies for studying one year before I started, to test a new 0% interest loan instead. Then they noticed that current students are having immense problems (getting a house is impossible, huge stress due to having 0 money, etc) so now they're moving back to a basic student subsidy, but it will go into effect 1 year from now, when I'm done with most of my studies probably. Plus, it is likely to not get compensated for having missed out.
No, but I'm sure you know plenty who voted for Nixon and Regan. Maybe look at the actual stats of each administration rather than mindlessly repeating the propaganda you've been fed
It is a well known fact that there was almost constant economic growth during his administration. How about you stop repeating the marxist propaganda you learned at college
"During Reagan's eight year presidency, the annual deficits averaged 4.0% of GDP, compared to a 2.2% average during the preceding eight years. The real (inflation adjusted) average rate of growth in federal spending fell from 4% under Jimmy Carter to 2.5% under Ronald Reagan"
That doesn't sound like constant economic growth to me. Facts aren't Marxist propaganda btw, no matter how much you dislike them.
My grandfather talked about a sells man he saw back when he was in his early twenties who mad $10,000 a year and how he wished to make that kind of money.
It's been while, but if I remember correctly the old guy gave our MC some shit about his art so MC hit him in the face. It happened like first episode so it doesn't really spoil anything. The show isn't really story heavy either, more like chill feelsgood type of show.
My favorite argument is "get a better job" but those same people that tell you to get a better job eat mcdonalds every day for dinner and have a dunkin doughnuts coffee every fucking morning. "I agree that your job is vital but you should be in poverty for it because I deem it to be beneath me"
Lowly jobs are for lowly people. They're meant for uneducated high schoolers who act as a cheap labor source because they want some extra spending money and already have necessities supplied by parents or drug addicts who are scummy already and can't pass a drug test so they work a shit tier low paying job and live next to homeless to buy more drugs. Anyone left still working a shit job reaps what they sow
Smells like a load of "im better than you" bullshit ngl.
Minimum wage jobs are not "meant for high schoolers who need spending money", the whole point of the minimum wage was to guarantee all workers a decent and respectable living (the words spoken by the creator of the minimum wage himself, FDR.)
I know drug free people with chemistry and math degrees who cant find work outside of retail. I know welders and electricians working at mcdonalds because the rest of the jobs are filled by old fuckers who will never retire because they know if they do, theyre gonna end up working as a Walmart greeter too.
Not everyone was born with your silver spoon, and most americans are one missed paycheck away from homelessness.
Not exactly older gen creating problems, but inflation along with stagnating wages and rise of housing prices makes it so that the same money (and the same job) now can buy much less than it could several decades ago.
What older gen does though is keep this problem. Many leadership/management positions are held by boomers who are stuck in this "back in my days" mindset and have high enough income to prevent a hard reality check. So, nothing gets changed.
I can’t remember exactly but from I’ve heard some of it probably roots the unfair advantage of boomers having viable economic opportunities. Comparing minimum wages with inflation is a simple way of looking at it.
They never told their kids "no" and never raised them to take responsibility for their actions. Now those kids blame all of their shitty decisions on their parents which in a way is true.
when I was 19-21 I worked 3 part time jobs and was lucky enough to pick my hours at 2 of the 3. I worked 35-45h normally per week with varying wages at the time and I'm my medium town it was enough to buy a 2bed 1 bath house. like it wouldn't be easy but totally doable on full time.
occasionally I would work as much as possible for the extra fun money
A 40 hr work week is normal. Also currently at 23 I am fighting not to work a 40 hr work week because that's all every employer wants to give but I'm a student and with classes can only do 20 hrs a week. Still enough to live on barely because my parents cut me off which has been rough and they only did it because I found a girlfriend as weird as that is
Oh, well. Hey, maybe if we're the only developed country left over after WWIII, we can do a repeat on unopposed economical dominance for a couple generations?
Cost of yearly tuition to Oregon state university 11k in state. 31k out of state. Total cost of the Oregon state football teams locker room 68million. Baseball locker room 4m. Girls basketball locker room 2.3m you wonder why tuition is so high at 4 year universities
The other thing that pisses me off is when young millennials say that most young people are ‘lazy’. That’s not from their own volition considering people enable their lives to hold no meaning.
Dude i suppose its sarcasm but if it isnt then, if you have 21, a huge student debt, no one wants to hire you because you have no experience, so you only can work for minimum wage ¿What are you supposed to do? ¿How you would get a better job if there is no job available anywhere?

Imagine having to pay to go to school. This comment was made by the Europe gang.
Here in Finland, the government pays us to study.
Here in Argentina the goberment bleeds us dry :D
Aivan
Aiven
How
They pay you 252.76€ a month to students over the age of 18 who don't live with their parents or work.
Plus a big portion of your rent.
BaFög goes yeet
I study in the Netherlands and have a 50k student debt :(
How?
Because I was born in the wrong generation, they removed basic subsidies for studying one year before I started, to test a new 0% interest loan instead. Then they noticed that current students are having immense problems (getting a house is impossible, huge stress due to having 0 money, etc) so now they're moving back to a basic student subsidy, but it will go into effect 1 year from now, when I'm done with most of my studies probably. Where do you study, because someone I know *does* have basic student subsidy.
TU Delft, Netherlands. Some can acquire a subsidy with high grades, those are exceptions though
They always say that like it’s not their fault

communism?
communism?
Communist policies never generate success
ig you're american, im not aware of any communist policies in america, im not from usa btw
Literally any form of forced wealth redistribution such as welfare
are you telling me that social welfare schemes dont work, you're fuckin retarded mate
They don't. If forced redistribution of wealth worked, then explain why America still has poverty and why the average Soviet citizen lived in poverty
Having a social welfare isnt communism. Look at Canada, we are doing great and we have many social welfare programs!
So that's why you wait months for a doctor and are ruled by a fascist dictator
I thought we beat communism by invading Vietnam, Korea, etc.?
Who do you think voted for those politicians over and over again?
I don't know many boomers who voted for Biden or Sanders
No, but I'm sure you know plenty who voted for Nixon and Regan. Maybe look at the actual stats of each administration rather than mindlessly repeating the propaganda you've been fed

Lol, boomers didn't let their wives go to college... The married them at 15 and slapped the shit out of them if they left the kitchen...
The way it is meant to be
Poor boomer was probably just complaining about the state of the economy and inflation that has occured over the decades.
My grandfather talked about a sells man he saw back when he was in his early twenties who mad $10,000 a year and how he wished to make that kind of money.
Back in their day, minimum wage was actually possible to live off of.
Back in their day there was no minimum wage
Minimum wage has been a thing since 1894
Literally 1894

Which anime is this scene from?
Barakamon. Can recommend.
Can I get context for scene , unless its a huge spoiler

Is it about calligraphy? Sounds familiar
Yeah. His style is too formal and he tries to go and become more edgy.
i probably wouldnt like it then, i prefer really story heavy stuff that gets my mind going and excited for twists and what not
Yeah it's not for everyone.
Thank you
I literally came to the comment section for this, thank you XD

That'll probably give them flashbacks to their wives
Source?
Barakamon.
Barak Obamon
Its a nice chill slice of life anime
Say what kind of problems were created by older grn I am not mocking just curious

Weird did they want you to get a boyfriend or something?
Back in my day (yesterday) it cost half of my paycheck to feed myself while working 2 jobs. :)
Boomers to their wife If they wanted to go to college:
The assumptions of “a boomers life” by people born after 1980… Laughable

Weebs making the worst fucking memes in existence:
Why is this one of the worst fukcing memes in existence according to you?
And apparently a wedding too.
Inflation says hi
Actually true, but they fucked up the economy so much we cannot do the same
Must be easy when college tuition was 2 dollars
i just want my freedom and away from school
Oh, well. Hey, maybe if we're the only developed country left over after WWIII, we can do a repeat on unopposed economical dominance for a couple generations?

you need 100k a year just to afford a house and live a simple life, not even including kids
One of the consequences of women entering the workforce is that now the costs of everything inflated up to require two average incomes instead of one
This is cringe. Yikes.
Why
Weebs
And now anime makes shit cringe? For no reason
The other thing that pisses me off is when young millennials say that most young people are ‘lazy’. That’s not from their own volition considering people enable their lives to hold no meaning.
A message from Gen X... we also think you millennial and gen Z folk are trash

It's really become fashionable to victimize yourself, hasn't it?
respect the fucking elderlies cunt, they were responsible for your life
ok boomer
im 15 lol
Yeah and many of them are fucking assholes
Also responsible for making the life they gave me as miserable as possible
The younger generation needs to step up. Take responsibility and stop blaming others for you problem
The older generation needs to step up. Take responsibility for their mistakes and stop blaming younger generation for the problems they created
