Damage wise most weapons are the same, basic mace/club/longsword can take you all the way through the game easily too. It's just that the claymore has a moveset everyone loves. 1h thrust with the power attack especially.
Damage is great and the moveset is too. Multiple enemies? You have a sweep attack. In a hallway, closed in area, or need to cover ground on a single opponent? You have a solid thrust attack. It's the most complete set for situational attacks.
One of the cool things about this game is that basically all weapons are viable through the entire game. Unlike other RPGs where you constantly find better versions of the same weapon, here you can pick a weapon you like and stick with it.
That being said there are some weapons on the short list of "best weapons in the game" and the claymore is constantly at the top of that list. It is almost universally agreed upon to be one of the best weapons in the game so you can certainly use it for the entire game.
I’ve only really played Witcher 3 before this and I was kinda expecting to to find just a random ass spear to top it at some point, thank you for telling me
Yea almost the exact opposite of W3 where every time you level up you can find a slightly better version of your gear.
Here there are very few "bad" weapons and very few direct upgrades.
But in short, absolutely the claymore can run the entire game, in fact some will say it's too good and "easy mode" but this is Darksouls. Someone is going to say you're doing something wrong. Even when you're winning you're doing it wrong lol
Lol yea, do what you gotta do out there. Just enjoy the game. I keep coming back to it and doing something different. There's always another run trying something else... but that first playthrough is something amazing.
Like I’ve killed a few black knights and got the load ring, (forgor what it’s called, the one at the bottom of the Taurus demon tower) and was kind of underwhelmed when I killed them bc there was no music, no triumph
I made a playlist for DS1 because of this reason. It's mostly ambient dungeon synth music albums and 1or2 atmospheric black metal records. I can give you the list of interprets or link on Spotify if you are interested.
Backstab is unfair (especially people in PVP)
Fast rolling is unfair.
Wearing heavy armor is unfair.
Using a shield is unfair.
Spells are unfair.
Parry is unfair.
Arrows are unfair.
Black Knight weapons are unfair.
Summoning is unfair.
Bosses are unfair.
Assuming you are willing to continue to upgrade it, and will be leveling your stats appropriately, it'll take you as far as you want to go. Perfectly viable as a weapon to pick up, and never switch for the rest of a playthrough
Also, some parts of the forest area are more difficult than others. If you end up in a place you feel you are doing very little damage/taking a lot, it's possible you have detoured to a late/mid game area.
Would it be a fair assumption to say you have not rang any bells yet?
Quick tip, in terms of damage, weapon upgrades are more important than your stats. At least early in the game.
Always give priority to your health and stamina first, and leave Str/Dex for last.
Claymore is awesome, I would swap between my +10 Claymore and +10 Zwei right through the whole game.
The Zwei moveset was great for open areas, the Claymore is superb in tight corridors.
Near the end I wanted to make the Cursed Greatsword and very reluctantly had to sacrifice my Claymore. It was the saddest moment in the game for me.
Whether it’s to Sen’s fortress or the end of everything in The Ringed City, the claymore will stand with you for as far as you want brother. As far as you want.
Claymore is a great weapon. One of the fan favorites. That said, just about any weapon in the game will be plenty good through the end of the game as long as you upgrade it and invest in the right stats.
The Claymore will take you through ds 1-3 and Elden Ring.
It's absolutely my go-to weapon in all their games and every time I say I'm going to try something different I'm just lying to myself and revert back to the Claymore
My roommate is playing through the game for his first time and got his claymore to +15. I know it got him at least through O&S before he decided to upgrade to a higher damage potential.
As far as you're willing to take it.
Dark souls is really good with build variety. You can use the Divine magic sword of a fallen noble night or a big stick you found on the ground. Either way you'll reach the end just fine.
All the way through. If you’re feeling a lack of bite at the end, use some pine resin or charcoal shit idk what it’s called I don’t remember (fire paper?)
Go with the regular upgrade path and it'll take you through the entire game and several New Game Plus cycles. Claymore got great scaling and moveset. Splendid choice.
All weapons hold their own damage wise, the trick is finding a weapon with enough situational solutions to solve all different combat “puzzles” throughout the game. Strength weapons are pretty much easy mode because of their stun potential + diverse move sets so with all that being said, the Claymore is arguably one of the best weapons in the game 👍 good luck
The only weapon that holding me back from using claymore is zwielhandler (i always says it with l) but claymore is a close second and I used it so much too probably one of the best early weapons fr

baemore for lyfe
it is probably the best weapon in the game. good damage, useful moves, basically no disadvantages unless you're a bonk stick Strength purist or a R1 machine dex-you-know-what. Quality build weapons are the best :)
The question is how far will you take the claymore
Weapons don’t betray, I treat them with respect
Good answer. Here a gold star from the zweihander community
Zweihander is like you having a slow and hard sex with thicc girl, Claymore is like you having fast sex with a slim woman.
Wait until you try DEX.
Then it's friends with benefits.
Great Scythe and Balder Side Sword 😩
So Zweihander it is.
You should try threesome with Gwynevere and thicc woman.
You got the Zwei right....the claymore is like having sex woth multiple thicc girls
Is there one where the girl is terrifyingly swole
Great club
I'm going to go bonk some Undead Burgers
It’s not the lightsaber that makes it great, it’s the one wielding it.
To the end and beyond, baby
Why is it so good?

And the running spin attack rocks so I like to use that anytime I get a chance
It has an arcing frontal slash and a straight thrust that gives it incredible versatility in every environment
All the way my guy, all the fuckin way and more. Claymore gang rise up
Damage, weight, moveset it's a perfect balance. Also it looks sick too.
It does look so cool, the simplicity and elegance of the cross gaurd, mwah
I think it has a sheath too right?
Yessiree, a beaut too

Yeah I feel like just circling around enemies to backstab is unfair but the whole rest of the game is unfair so it’s justified in my eyes
Lol yea, do what you gotta do out there. Just enjoy the game. I keep coming back to it and doing something different. There's always another run trying something else... but that first playthrough is something amazing.
Don’t I know it, the only complaint is not enough music but other wise it’s so good
Not enough music is crazy
Like I’ve killed a few black knights and got the load ring, (forgor what it’s called, the one at the bottom of the Taurus demon tower) and was kind of underwhelmed when I killed them bc there was no music, no triumph
I get what you mean. Sometimes big fights can end up feeling sapped of accomplishment when the sound design isn't just right.
I made a playlist for DS1 because of this reason. It's mostly ambient dungeon synth music albums and 1or2 atmospheric black metal records. I can give you the list of interprets or link on Spotify if you are interested.

So fists only, mid roll, knight armor, no party me then
Claymore=slaymore Keep it!
To the end of time
Assuming you are willing to continue to upgrade it, and will be leveling your stats appropriately, it'll take you as far as you want to go. Perfectly viable as a weapon to pick up, and never switch for the rest of a playthrough
What do you mean? Like strengt and dex?
Yes. Claymore damage scales with strength and dex, so leveling either will increase damage, by amounts dependant on what soft cap you are approaching
Fs, I’ll be sure to keep on my back
Also, some parts of the forest area are more difficult than others. If you end up in a place you feel you are doing very little damage/taking a lot, it's possible you have detoured to a late/mid game area. Would it be a fair assumption to say you have not rang any bells yet?
I got one, the gargoyle one
Nice. Good luck finding the second one. There is an NPC in firelink shrine that can give you a hint on where to go if you get lost.
I killed them all 😟
Oh. Well good luck so 😂 I will give a hint if you like?
No, thank you tho. Btw how many bees do you have that it’s too many?
Bro...
Everyone’s dead
Quick tip, in terms of damage, weapon upgrades are more important than your stats. At least early in the game. Always give priority to your health and stamina first, and leave Str/Dex for last.
If you +15 it you can reach even NG+8 😌☕️
Ask not what the claymore can do for you. Ask what you can do for the claymore...
All de way. Claymore is one of the top pics for a quality build.
It was the saddest moment in the game for me.
>the saddest moment in the game for me I'd have thought it was a sadder one when you noticed the claymore was better...
Ha! You're not wrong there! The CG was handy in New Londo though.
Basically from early ds1 to late ds3
Through ER as well.
Whether it’s to Sen’s fortress or the end of everything in The Ringed City, the claymore will stand with you for as far as you want brother. As far as you want.
You mean the Baemore? Perfect Weapon in EVERY Souls Game and Elden Ring.
Play more with the claymore that thing can carry you to end game
Till ng+7 and beyond...
Claymore is a great weapon. One of the fan favorites. That said, just about any weapon in the game will be plenty good through the end of the game as long as you upgrade it and invest in the right stats.
NG+7 at least
I still use it in SL125 PvP. Claymore is babe <3
You can use that thing through the entire series
The answer is all the way through Elden Ring
Took me to to the end
All the way. I recommend screaming "freedom" after every victory.
The Claymore will take you through ds 1-3 and Elden Ring. It's absolutely my go-to weapon in all their games and every time I say I'm going to try something different I'm just lying to myself and revert back to the Claymore
To the moon. Ah, wait, that's Bloodborne. To the, uh...to the Fire?
My roommate is playing through the game for his first time and got his claymore to +15. I know it got him at least through O&S before he decided to upgrade to a higher damage potential.
All the way into Gwyns heart 😉
My first playthrough was with claymore.
Above and beyond
As far as you're willing to take it. Dark souls is really good with build variety. You can use the Divine magic sword of a fallen noble night or a big stick you found on the ground. Either way you'll reach the end just fine.
Claymore to the moon 📈
To the very end....with you
My entire first play through was with a claymore. It’s awesome.
Yes
Just beat my first playthrough with it. Very fun weapon :)
Through every game. Claymore is life.
As far as you can dream son.
Beat most of Dark Souls 3 with it and against arguably tougher bosses. You can run it all the way back easy.
To the very end my friend
Took me through first run-through and DLC - top tier quality weapon
As far as you want. If you can't be hit, your only issue is how much DPS you want.
The baemore will carry you to victory, my friend
All the way to the end of the world if you can make it there
To the end but there are many more weapons you find more enjoyable to use.
New Game +7
Ng+7++++++++
Uhh, I just finished my first ever playthrough without it, soo...
All the way through. If you’re feeling a lack of bite at the end, use some pine resin or charcoal shit idk what it’s called I don’t remember (fire paper?)
All the way from ds1 to elden ring
Go with the regular upgrade path and it'll take you through the entire game and several New Game Plus cycles. Claymore got great scaling and moveset. Splendid choice.
The claymore will take you all the way through to Elden Ring
You can beat the game with any one weapon
A Claymore and a Shield... More than enough to kill anything that moves
The one time I played through ds1 and beat every single boss there was to beat, I used the claymore. So the entire game.
that shit went to the moon
All the way champ.
To the moon and back
The Claymore is a constant in the ever changing world of Dark Souls, you can't go wrong with it.
it’s a sledgehammer. :bass drop:
NG7+ at least (if you want it to)
Now hear me out. I just got it to +10
Till the end of your journey.
Oh all the way!!!!
Far.
Until you get the dark knight halberd
Far enough that you won't even notice you're already in Elden Ring and is playing the new DLC
Claymore is my favorite weapon in the game, I have a character that's level 400+ ng+7 and only use the claymore (with sunlight blade)
Claymore has seen me through to NG+5 on DS1, +6 with sunlight blade.
The only weapon that holding me back from using claymore is zwielhandler (i always says it with l) but claymore is a close second and I used it so much too probably one of the best early weapons fr

Any weapon can take you all the way through the game
You can beat the game with any weapon but if you want to have a much easier time then it's better to change it on something stronger right now
All the way ! Every weapon can take you all the way, even your bare hands, even the basic daggers, even the deprived’s starting club
Someone beat the game SL1 with starting club... not really a question lol
I don’t know what this means bro
