Ringfinger Leonhard from DS3 is similar looking to Marvelous Chester (pictured here) from DS1.
Both of their armor is reminiscent of the Hunter armor from Bloodborne. In fact Artorias of the Abyss DLC for dark souls one was made after Bloodborne was already in production, so it's not hard to imagine that some influence crossed over.
"Marvelous Chester bears many similarities to characters and aesthetics found in Miyazaki's spiritual successor to Dark Souls, Bloodborne (which was being developed around the time the AotA DLC was released). His dark, Victorian attire and eccentric personality bear strong ties to Yharnam. He also uses a quick side stepping dodge (like Hunters in Bloodborne) instead of a dodge roll used by other NPCs and the player."
Sounds familiar and I'd have to agree, seems like a definite nod to yharnam.
I looked it up and found this. It's a long copy and paste, and only the first part addresses your question, but the rest of it fleshes out some of the stuff I mentioned before so I'll paste it all here.
But the TL:DR version is yes, he is described as that.
"Chester, an individual dragged from the far future, is popularly suspected to hail from the Bloodborne universe, because of his Victorian style of clothing, unique bleed weaponry, and radically different fighting style from typical souls characters."
"Although this is largely unsupported in regards to lore, with very little information outside of the final Dark Souls III DLC tying the Bloodborne and Dark Souls Universes together, it is almost certainly true in the spiritual perspective: the team working on the Artorias of The Abyss DLC would then immediately go on to work on Bloodborne, and many of the unusual attributes of Chester's movement and fighting style, such as only using a ranged weapon, having a multi-projectile throwing weapon, and relying primarily on leaping dodges instead of rolls and blocking, match up with later developer commentary on early core mechanic ideas that were being discussed for Bloodborne specifically at that very early stage of development.Chester has a model rigging unique to him, unlike almost every other NPC, and it is very likely that Chester was in part a prototype test character for determining the viability of programming, rigging, and implementing some of these ideas in gameplay."

Maybe in the other games.
In DS1, armor matters a lot. Base armor does less at higher levels, but it can be upgraded to keep up. Poise is also at its most powerful.
Perfect example my maxed elite knight armor kept me safley out of harms way without question till ng+6 at which point I had to start using my shield and actually dodging
Sort of. If you like using slow weapons there's a lot more opportunities to use them if you have mad poise, and physical resistances. You can just swing into things. It's absurdly strong in ds1. Like being able to medium roll in heavy armor is some of the OP shit in ds1.
Exactly it lets you wear very heavy armor, and use big weapons with tons of endurance investments. Best two general purpose rings in the game. Other good rings are wolf knight, leo, ninja flip, hornets, bellowing dragon, and red tearstone. Wolf Knight's+Havel's is a great pvp combo if you like fast rolling with high poise. Though havel+fap and wearing partial havel armor is another classic way to do that. Typically I run helm, and gloves with lighter armor in the other slots. The two most efficient armor peices in the game are the Hollow Soldier Waistcloth, and the Gargoyle Helm. From a weight to poise perspective. Chain armor is great from a weight to defense stat persective. Not good for poise. Elite Knight, and Knight armor is also quite solid. I personally think the knight armor is a bit better as it gives the same poise for less weight. However Brass armor is a great option as it's much easier to upgrade twinkling titanite armor. I like using all twinkling or non-upgradable armor. The exception being Hollow Soldier waistcloth it's just too good.
Playing naked means zero resistances to anything, which makes it ridiculously easy to get poisoned, toxic, cursed etc. and they also kill you much faster.
Rats will poison you ridiculously easily if you're naked. I've seen lots of DS3 players who go naked and make life exceedingly hard for themselves when passing under the dragon bridge because they always end up poisoned by one of the three rats. (And they also can't pass above, the first dragon flaming kills them because no fire resistance.) That's just one example of area where being naked turns a moderate challenge into a miserable slog.
Yeah toxic is in the painted world from the fire throwers, and i want to say there is another spot for poison but i cant rememeber been playing a lot of bloodborne lately so its the freshest thing on my mind.
Armor can make a decent difference in DS1, but the most important stat on armor is poise. 99% of the time an enemy kills me it's because they broke my poise so I couldn't roll away before their followup attack.
Drip = a particularly stylish or fashionable outfit, not just clothes. For example, a dumpy t shirt, cargo shorts, and socks pulled up to your knees is an outfit, but it has no drip.
But... what the hell's the drip part. I can understand that it's specifically for fancier dress or stylish stuff but what's the logic of it being a "drip", or what is the "drippy" part... to my oldness this slang does not compute.
I'm definitely not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm pretty sure it went something like - diamond watches for rappers being "Ice" which led to people being "Iced" out, ice drips so at some point people started calling it drippy, and since diamond watches are valuable drip became a catch all term for cool outfits/clothes/accessories/etcetc
It's only 10 bars, and it's common for new players to invest heavily into HP.
Estus +3 is also about what I'd expect from a new player who doesn't know where to get them.
The estus upgrade is a decent indicator of someone's progress most of the time. It's possible they missed a bunch, but I think we can agree they're probably not on NG+
There is only 10 bars of hp visible, but there's 2-3 cut off on the left side, and anyone's guess what's left on the right side. A pretty big stamina bar, too. It would probably take some serious grinding to get those kinds of levels on a NG without duping.
Not impossible, but somewhat improbable.
When I first got into DS, I treated it like a Final Fantasy game. I grinded my ass off whenever I hit a difficulty spike, specifically that area in the Dankroot Garden past the 20k key door that has the mage, thief and priest that'll chase you and fall off the cliff lol.
yes, you can just kill him
and if you're the type who worries about killing important NPCs, then don't worry, he's just a bloodborne foreshadowing, his shop is also crap so you can just kill his ass and be happy with your new drip
edit: forgot to mention he's also an asshole, so yeah just kill him
I mean, how many ways can you take the clothing off of a man’s back? I doubt he’s selling it and he certainly won’t give it to you… there’s only one option left, my friend
Whenever I start a new playthrough ( especially on Elden ring ) I just get bored fast because it's not as great as in experiencing it the first time. Also, Havel set go brrrrr.
Well I feel like Elden Ring has pretty low replayability due to how long it is. For me personally I like running new types of builds because while the world may be the same, playing different builds is a different enough experience for me to enjoy it.
If I can make a suggestion, google how to get in to the dlc. Its nonsense logic that is insanely easy to miss. Even if you want to do an otherwise blind playthrough, google that just so you dont miss a genuonely amazing dlc.
I think you can get his equipment in the painted world around the region you picked up the ember of some kind. Check the full completion of the painted world of ariamis on YouTube. I could be wrong tho.
yes, you have to kill him on the bridge before you do a boss. he will remain as a vendor but slightly pissed off. His gear will be directly underneath him in the crevasse

Do people have a genetic marker to invent new word meanings as to not use the thousands of slang terms for the exact same thing?
Good looking clothes, style.
Sweep the leg. No mercy.
Yes, Sensei...
Strike first
This is the correct answer
Just as chester taught us
Depends chosen undead, how bad do you want it?
Ohh, I just thought this was DS3. There is another (maybe the same) guy like this
Oh shit is this DS1???
Yes
Yea you can see the black lines on the health bar, that’s how I know if it’s ds1 or ds3
yeah, and also by like literally everything
For me it was the D-pad items or whatever its called.
I never paid that much attention. I wonder why they took out the black bars?

I shouldn’t. It’s not the Jedi way.
Yea, kill him
That's your answer to everything
It helps explain the erection.
W h a t ?
What?
… For junipers sake. Have you gone hollow??
Exactly, did you do it OP?
Yeah you have to kill him, it’s not the best equipment but looks dope as hell
That's all that matters
i mean, armour barely matters unless sl1 with fire defense walking in lava without charred ring
But all you really need is the shield there is a reason why so many players play naked.
I do so the neighbours can see
Sort of. If you like using slow weapons there's a lot more opportunities to use them if you have mad poise, and physical resistances. You can just swing into things. It's absurdly strong in ds1. Like being able to medium roll in heavy armor is some of the OP shit in ds1.
havel ring + fap is basically easy mode
I too, love fap.
Exactly it lets you wear very heavy armor, and use big weapons with tons of endurance investments. Best two general purpose rings in the game. Just because you can doesn't mean it's optimal.
Playing naked means zero resistances to anything, which makes it ridiculously easy to get poisoned, toxic, cursed etc. and they also kill you much faster.
Is toxic even present anywhere outside of blight Town? Or poison for that matter?
Rats will poison you ridiculously easily if you're naked. I've seen lots of DS3 players who go naked and make life exceedingly hard for themselves when passing under the dragon bridge because they always end up poisoned by one of the three rats. His armor actually ain't that bad if you're going ninja flips!
I am still sad we do not have them in other games...
I finished Manus and Kalameet with his drip on my SL1 no magic run. Drip is everything. It is essential.
That extra defense is temporary but drip is eternal
Spicy walks on the beach
Armor can make a decent difference in DS1, but the most important stat on armor is poise. 99% of the time an enemy kills me it's because they broke my poise so I couldn't roll away before their followup attack.
Well in ds1, doing an SL1 run is at its easiest because you can pretty insta-kill everything with pyromancy
Who needs functionality? Swankiness helps you win.
Bloodborne fashion is easily the best fashion in Soulsborne. It's all so fucking drippy.
What? It's got pretty good stats
A Hunter is a Hunter, even in the wrong franchise.
did you know that after this dlc they started working on bloodborne? it's like, foreshadowing
Or some would say, foreshadowingm
You can kill him, or, play bloodborne and aquire multiple variations of this
God I want to play bb so bad but I only have Xbox T-T
1. Sell Xbox 2. BUY PS5 3. ???? 4. Profit
if only a resold xbox could even cover half the price of a ps5
Yeah lol
My mans health bar go all the way to heaven
Why did I have to scroll down so far for this
Gold is often buried

What the heck's a drip? Edit: If I'd taken a moment to read the comments I would have realized I'm just old and this apparently means clothes

Ah yes, moist fashion
I thought OP was talking about catching a cold off the npc!
Right? I was thinking something very similar and was like no, no poison or curse from this guy
It’s not you, Team Fleek is back to ruin our lives again
I was about to ask is it possible to acquire this man's hp?
Soul duping, probably. Getting vitality that high and still having only estus +3 seems unlikely.
It's only 10 bars, and it's common for new players to invest heavily into HP. Estus +3 is also about what I'd expect from a new player who doesn't know where to get them.

Play Bloodborne. Or kill him.
Be sure you can kill him immediately if you decide to take the shot. Cuz homeboy can put 4 shots in you real quick
yes, you can just kill him and if you're the type who worries about killing important NPCs, then don't worry, he's just a bloodborne foreshadowing, his shop is also crap so you can just kill his ass and be happy with your new drip edit: forgot to mention he's also an asshole, so yeah just kill him
If you jump ahead a couple games
Murder time
I mean, how many ways can you take the clothing off of a man’s back? I doubt he’s selling it and he certainly won’t give it to you… there’s only one option left, my friend
Dude your health bar is impressive/oppressive
I seen many posts about this guy yet I don't know where he's located?
He’s in the dlc right before artorias, he’s pretty hard to miss
Thanks because I haven't played the dlc yet
Make sure you do the DLC BEFORE defeating the final boss (Gwyn) as doing so will lock you into NG+
Too late for that I beat the game 2 weeks ago and forgot to do the dlc :/
Noooooo :( The DLC is one of the best parts of the game. Well, now I guess you just have to do a new playthrough. Not a bad thing.
Yep, just have to deal with a slightly harder boss. At least I'm sl 205.
Well I mean you could make a new character with a new build as well. It's always a fun time.
Whenever I start a new playthrough ( especially on Elden ring ) I just get bored fast because it's not as great as in experiencing it the first time. Also, Havel set go brrrrr.
