Going to Kaiou's planet isn't an automatic thing after death, though. Enma has to give them permission to go to Kaiou's planet instead of being sent to Heaven normally, and Goku only bypassed it upon his second death (at Cell's hands) because he was literally at Kaiou's planet at the time.

SVXfiles

Yup. Vegeta would have probably gone to hell since he never got his (partial) redemption against Buu, nobody knew where New Namek was except for King Kai and everyone else had already died atleast once except krillin and chaotzu who had died twice before the androids. Gohan going into a room that, at the time, had a limit of using it twice in your life wouldn't have gotten him anywhere on his own. Trunks didn't have the necessary push to transform until Gohan died and he wouldn't have been shit for a training partner until he managed that People forget Future Trunks' story is supposed to be tragic, there wasn't supposed to be a magic reset button to make everything better again. Grieve the lost and move forward.

Huntarantino

Couldn’t Goku have instant transmissioned to King Kai’s anyway though? He’s always been allowed to keep his body when he dies, I don’t see why he wouldn’t in this situation too

Sabrescene

He's always died protecting people though, in future Trunks' timeline he simply died from a virus. I believe they said he could keep his body as a heroic martial artist but from memory they're never 100% clear on the circumstances so it could be that a death of natural causes (i.e. the virus) excludes him from keeping it.

SSJRemuko

maybe but why would he? he died of a disease long before the androids showed up. he wouldnt know what was going on and thought he was gone for good. no reason he'd bother.

Huntarantino

King Kai would be keeping up with it though. I get that we can just accept things went down the way they did in Trunks’ timeline, but I could very easily see this happening in the main timeline during say the time Goku was dead after cell. He would be just messing around training and competing in Afterlife Tournaments and then King Kai or another Kai would tell him that his family is in danger and he could talk to them telepathically. In fact I bet the Buu Saga would have gone down pretty much the same way it did even if Goku wasn’t already on earth using his free day yet. Supreme Kai would have found him in otherworld and brought him back for a time.

SSJRemuko

> King Kai would be keeping up with it though why would he? he doesnt care. not hit job and Goku isnt down there. even in the present timeline he had NO IDEA what was going on until Goku contacted HIM. So no, he absolutely would not. > and then King Kai or another Kai would tell him that his family is in danger and he could talk to them telepathically. this would never happen.

Huntarantino

Okay, I disagree. But if you say so

They were taken by surprise, they were killed almost instantly and the dragon balls were petrified. Even if they had been revived they would have been killed again, and Goku died of natural causes. As the other poster said going to kaio-sama is not automatic and in the manga hell doesn't exist is just nothingness. Aaaaand it's a story, it's not perfect and has plotholes but it's purpose was to be tragic and dramatic and it accomplished that.

SSJRemuko

thats not a plothole. > In the current timeline when somebody dies they just go with Kaio sama no they dont. Goku and the others who did this were rare exceptions. Not everyone is gonna be allowed to do that every time they die. Goku in the future timeline went to heaven, not Kaio. > and keep contact and see what’s happening on earth while thinking on how to fix the situation but its like nor Goku, Piccolo or any other Z fighters tried to help Gohan and Trunks, there’re so many things that they couldve done. because they couldnt. > Another example besides the time chamber one, they could’ve reach to the nameks and ask them to use their dragon balls to revive everyone. nope, as explained above.

Gatlindragon

>Another example besides the time chamber one, they could’ve reach to the nameks and ask them to use their dragon balls to revive everyone. And how do you think they would know where New Namek is?

OldAd4400

I always thought the bigger plot hole was that Mr. Popo never intervened and brought Gohan to the Time Chamber. Like, he’s literally alive. We know he survives even when there isn’t a guardian because we’ve seen him without Kami. So far as we know he’s immortal short of Buu candy magic shenanigans. He doesn’t even need King Kai to communicate like Goku would (if he didn’t ascend to heaven, that is). He’s literally there! Yes, Gohan wouldn’t have a training partner, but I’m not convinced he’d need one. Trunks makes it pretty clear that Vegeta ignored him in the chamber. They both leapt from sub-17/18 level to well above Semi Perfect Cell level in one year. Give Gohan two years after he unlocked super saiyan and I’m pretty confident he could take the androids down.

TheDouglas69

When 17 and 18 were wreaking havoc, The Time Chamber was presumably destroyed. The Senzu vine was destroyed and Trunks thought Future Gohan could have regrown his arm. The whole goal was the save Goku. At that time, Bulma and Future Trunks thought he was the most powerful and would know what to do about 17 and 18. Even if Future Trunks had the Namekian Dragon Balls, Goku would not get revived because Porunga can’t revive those who died a natural death. Dying of a heart virus was considered a natural death. Sure Trunks could have later used Porunga to revive the rest of the gang especially Piccolo and by extension the old Kami to restore the Earth Dragon Balls and the Lookout. But why he never did that after defeating 17 and 18 is still unanswered.

Ultimafax

ha, that's not even the actual plot hole with the Android arc. multiverse theory is a bitch!

Hamlock1998

The real reason why they didn't do anything is because if they did, then the future timeline Toriyama wanted wouldn't work. It's that simple. Kinda lazy writing, but we forgive it cause the end result is cool.
