Yeah, but Meg was training to be track athlete just before she was taken. Clown is stated to have indulged in drink, junk food, and drugs - which will take the wind right out of you.
I forget what the specific job was, but Clown did manual labor at the circus during that whole time. As far as I understand it, you need to be pretty athletic for that.
He did wreck his lungs for sure, but he also was a master at crafting chemicals and invented the Afterpiece Antidote alongside the Tonic. It’s entirely reasonable to suspect that he dosed himself with the Antidote from time to time to somewhat hold back the damage his vices were doing to his breathing.
I know the easiest answer is “entity said so” but I like to do deep dives.

Completely different set of muscles. My father has approximately the shape of Clown and can lift much heavier stuff than me (he was a construction worker for most his life), but he cannot run 20+ km, while I do think of that as an enjoyable morning exercise.

I don't play Clown as much as I used too so I didn't remember. But I love the guy, best original killer by far
While it's hard to compete with Pain Res + Pentimento, Clown's perks aren't that bad either. Pop isn't as good as it used to be, but it's still pretty nice combined with other gen kicking perks. And Bamboozle can be a lifesaver of a chase perk for certain killers. Hell even Coulrophobia has some niche use on anti-healing builds.
If you're only buying Artist for the perks, and are actually considering playing Clown, you might want to go with the latter. You get more fun out of a killer you actually play.

You get shards mostly from codes or leveling up. So I would reccomend following the DBD twitter account because they occasionally post codes you can type into the in-game store for BP and shard rewards. If you want to level up, just play the game.
As for the knight, I don't think you should get him right now. His perks are decent, but the character itself is really terrible. I would wait for a knight rework before you buy them.

I just love Knights so his aesthetic is so cool to me, but that's a shame about him being terrible.
I'm at roughly 7.45 k shards at the moment, so I can almost afford a new character, but what else is there to buy for shards exactly? I like to dabble with Survivors too, so would Vittorio be a good purchase? Or a costume of some sort if I continue to save? Sorry to pester with more questions, I just haven't looked into what shards purchase aside from characters and costumes (well, not all costumes lol).

With shards, you can buy non-liscensed killers/ survivors. However, you can also get perks from the shrine of secrets.
In short, the shrine of secrets lets you buy certain perks (4 different perks a week) at the cost of i think 4000 shards that way you don't have to buy a character you don't want.
Get the Clown. Upside is he’s hilarious, actively counters holding W, and people get unreasonably angry when they lose to him due to being a literal clown. Downside is that he doesn’t makes funny bird noises.

Both killers have great perks, it's really a coin flip for the first one but once you get another 9k shards (which should happen sooner the next month with the daily rewards), I highly recommend getting the other.
I'd rather play with a group of self caring blendettes as teammates then play another game with a chainsaw boi without bamboozle so I'd say clown would be my choice.

Everyone has great cardio in the realm of the entity. All survivors have literally infinite sprint
Infinite light jog, maybe. Meg is the only one with a true sprint... burst.
Only Clown would think that what the survivors do would classify as a sprint

On clown I put the vhs porn charm in the middle slot(the highest spot) and use two of the bottle charms from one of the tomes

Coulrophobia plus sloppy butcher, disstressing, and unnerving presence on doc is a fun(not for survivors) build.
Bamboozle is amazing on killers that hate windows, but it's still great on most other killers too.

Throwing a long bomb and hitting the Survivor directly to interrupt their cleansing/unhook is still my favorite feeling in the game
Pop is still good, especially on 2 or 1 gens. It's my favorite gen regression perk.
It also causes an orange explosion which looks pretty
I love playing Artist, but that's just personal preference. Clown is obviously sexier tho.

I prefer Clown. He’s easy to play and pop and bamboozle are good perks. Artist is really difficult to learn
