VMware is history . By the end of the year , if tanzu doesn’t generate revenue then the whole team will be laid off . The toxicity of Broadcom has taken over . I can’t remember a weekend when I didn’t work . I am kinda glad I got laid off . My physical and mental health took a big hit since they acquired us . I am just scared cause a lot of talented people got laid off as well and I will have to compete with them for jobs .
That’s true . Especially if you are Senior / Staff Engineer and above . Hate the company but I do love the stock . Getting 4 months severance and My June Vesting will go through.
Bhai is it ats friendly, your design looks good but in resume point of view it should be professional and basic.
And one correction, don't put right side Bangalore, put dates on the right sides and location under the company.
Looks good if a recruiter finds it but it they are using any tools to filter out people then it would take a while
Not much bro, that's all I know... My score is 43 😄
Final year ha, bro try to get job in college placements only, after 2 years you can switch. Give your best, good luck on your job search, hope you find new one soon
It's a software which is used to fill the details directly from the resume to whatever forms the company may have. Like it takes data from a resume without human intervention ig. Ats friendly resumes are preferred rn
As someone said make it ATS friendly, although it seems like you are using novoresume which I think is ATS friendly but do check on that.
On the resume layout front, head real estate is redundant and not needed, use that space towards bottom for awards and recognition.
On language, unless applying abroad no need to mention it, it's redundant and might even backfire. Use it to display one or two personal projects even if they are old.
Thanks for the feedback !! It’s ATS friendly, my Google application was parsed properly when I uploaded this resume so I am confident it’s ATS friendly. The language part was filler material but I guess you are right . I honestly didn’t get any awards or employee of the month titles anywhere . I will Instead put my open source contributions maybe .
I think I have messed up here in my resume . To give you people a brief about the work I do . I am a backend developer who primarily develops services / features in Golang . In both companies I have worked on building cloud native applications so these features are deployed as micro services on kubernetes clusters. I don’t know how to bring up a kubernetes cluster or advance networking of k8s clusters but apart from this I can pretty much do everything on k8s clusters ranging from deploying services on k8s clusters to writing custom controllers for CR/CRDs. I am good at shell scripting and CI as well ( Jenkins and Gitlab CI). Please Review my resume based on this info .
Mods it would be helpful if you can pin this message .
I'm just curious to ask this , but are the skills you mentioned in your vmware experience transferable to other companies? Because it looks like you were working in a very niche field
I just showed a VP my resume and he thought I am an SRE . I guess I will have to change the points to show I have developed features which SRE team can use . I am a backend developer who has developed services mostly in Golang . Everything gets deployed on Kubernetes clusters so I have expertise in that as well .
Can you share what was your last fixed CTC? You had some really great career till now. Wish you best in your job search.
From a fellow laid off guy in job search.
Sorry to hear that . I hope you get a Job soon . I was getting 26 LPA in cash and Roughly 90k USD Broadcom stocks after acquisition(4 years vesting , vesting happens every quarter).
It was total 130k (90k Broadcom and 25k VMware stocks which got converted to Broadcom stocks (40k) post acquisition) . My December , March and June vesting will go through .
That's good package for 5YOE. Hope you get job soon. I got offers with hike within 10 days of LWD but currently taken a break for personal reasons before starting new job, you'll get it too.
Feeling sad that you are laid off. Take care.
I would recommend changing the template to a more professional format even though it is ats friendly you have lots of blank space in your resume.
I am also looking for a switch it is brutal out there I hope you have finance sorted for the next few months
It's really scary how someone with so much good experience like you gets laid off and have to go through the pain of job search again 🥲
Life of a IT field employee is never safe/settled
It’s part of life . I was down for 2 days . But I did learn that it’s not worth it to go above and beyond. I had access to the system for one week before they shut down and I saw that literally nobody cared . Business went on as usual . I will focus on my physical health more than the job now .
Not much . Started with 6LPA there as a Fresher in 2019 . I heard they pay 8LPA to freshers now . Wouldn’t recommend working there . Was working on 5G initially and they are heavy on C++. Switched to Network Management System Domain as they were making a new product which was cloud native . Learning curve was great but the pay never increased significantly.
We recommend checking out developersIndia official wiki on **[Creating an Ideal Software Engineering Resume](https://wiki.developersindia.in/community-guides/how-to-create-an-ideal-software-engineering-resume.html)**. We hope it provides some useful suggestions. All the best for your job search, you've got this!

bro change resume to ats friendly format.
Remove languages English and hindi nobody cares for it.
plus remove cgpa not required . Especially when its low.
The experience you've mentioned under the MTS 2 role points more towards devops than software engineering.
Pod autoscalers, monitoring and metrics and sending alerts to 3rd party integrations are all out of the box services provided in K8s which are easily configurable.
The skills you've mentioned at the top like Kafka, golang, Java and micro services don't really align with this.
Was your role in VMWare infra driven?
Hey bro, I hope you find a good job.
Can you tell me more about your golang experience. I'm thinking of learning golang to move into dev role from support.
Any guidance would be much appreciated.
language section is unnecessary information; too much white space (for example second point of Nokia can be crunched into one line); too many niche tech terms, make it read like generic terms, for example, PRTC is probably a k8s substitute, if yes, then atleast write something like container orchestration in the resume; improve contrast of lines which represent dates, contributions/tasks and Tanzu description; "contributions/tasks" is redundant info in resume, TSM description is something of an internal tool, which recruiters won't care about so you can remove that too.
Also, finally, run it through an ATS score checker.
the first mistake is the location, you have written Bengaluru and Bangalore, the resume format although it looks good is not ATS friendly, you can get rid of summary and include some personal good projects based on the profile that you'll be applying to

Sorry to hear. Didnt know vmware was laying off in India

people who survive broadcom chopping block, get immense payouts though. someone i know has survived, will get 550k usd in stock payouts! it's insane
That’s true . Especially if you are Senior / Staff Engineer and above . Hate the company but I do love the stock . Getting 4 months severance and My June Vesting will go through.
ok great. good luck to you
I heard people who were not immidieately laid off, were given a lot of RSUs (~1000 units) is it True?
1000 units in AVGO stock means 1.4 million USD . I don’t think anybody got that .
U worked on weekend in VMWare !! I thought it was one of the best places to work.
in Broadcom may be.. I think
Bhai is it ats friendly, your design looks good but in resume point of view it should be professional and basic. Thanks !! I will make the changes like you said . It is ATS friendly. One of my HR friend was able to parse it and automatically fill data.
Good bhai all the best for your job hunt. Hoping you get a better package and better environment to explore
what an ideal good ats score?
Itneeds more data on topics like statistics, number's, comparisons and obviously no repeated words.
my score is 56, and this is after i pushed everything to max, the numbers, the wordings. im final year grad. any keynotes on how i can improve it?
Not much bro, that's all I know... My score is 43 😄 Final year ha, bro try to get job in college placements only, after 2 years you can switch. Give your best, good luck on your job search, hope you find new one soon
can u stop this BS of "ats friendly" resume?
Sure we can stop when everyone who applied for a job gets a job ✌🏼
why
sorry to ask but what is ats friendly and why stop ?

Dont worry ma, you will get it going when market corrects, btw how much does nokia software engineers make?

VMWare was my dream company to work for. Sad to see how things are conspiring there.
bro change resume to ats friendly format. Remove languages English and hindi nobody cares for it. plus remove cgpa not required . Especially when its low.
Please Dm me. We have some openings for Go language folks. I can refer.
What's your expected CTC?
Where to create free resumes?
Search jake's resume template.
From where did you make your resume?
Is it because of the Acquisition?
Resume looks good.

I have 2 yoe, should I add pu2 and 10th class score on resume?

College hide krne se kya hoga???
I had offer from vmware for October 2023 and I declined it because of Broadcom acquisition.
What was the severance? I got laid off in the first wave in December.
I guess you’re using Novo resume. Use professional/Basic themes, looks more elegant. Its colourful themes look a bit naive/new grad-ish.
the first mistake is the location, you have written Bengaluru and Bangalore, the resume format although it looks good is not ATS friendly, you can get rid of summary and include some personal good projects based on the profile that you'll be applying to
