Developer’s Note: We have seen that skillful players are frequently moving through the world with ease. We want to support this, but the current situation is beyond what we believe is correct for the long-term health of the game. To chase this goal, we're making it more difficult to move while on mounts.
Also: Please feel free to buy a new skin to simulate your progression to other players for us, such fun....Sombodys gotta say it... Sorcs putting the trans in transmogs.
Also - sorcerers will freeze their horse in place when they use speed boost. Or the horse will randomly switch direction every time you use speed boost.
Since when could you freely move around on your horse?!?!?! I think it's usually just as fast as on foot (with all the times getting "stuck" on edge of path/trees/etc)???
I hate that shit when you have a game that’s single player, designed as single player, maybe has some afterthought hacked in multiplayer mode no one ever uses, but yet you still have to be online to play the damn thing. That pisses me off more than anything.
>option
Depends on how flexible you are for defining options. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Forcing a single player experience into a quarter-assed MMO space is relatively rare or even unique to Blizzard
What a bullshit, 90% AAA titles don't need internet connection. Only from 2022 without thinking about it - Elden Ring, The last of us remake, spiderman remaster for PC, all nintendo games, all console games. There are only few games that actually need it, but the myth is alive.
I dont understand. So fat the same mobs I fought before are dying just as fast. I may have to try harder to not die but I definetly could manage the normal amount of enemys on screen.
Lol fuck.. just imagined a dev on Friday.
"We addressed an issue where Sorcerer class players accidentally had fun. We heard you and removed the damage from their skills."
Honestly, id respect them if they said that lmao. Just come out and said it with a straight face. "We have been getting feedback that sorcs were having too much fun. That's not intended and we have tuned them down to be more aligned with other classes."
Then just end the campfire.
Fixed a bug where Sorcerer class was.
All Sorc players will immediately be converted to HC characters with 1 HP upon login and instantly died when an enemy comes on screen or they enter town (whichever occurs first).
They aren't that humble. Besides, there's nothing wrong with their testing methods. You will see on the dev stream soon when they prove that by "explaining" their patch to us so they can attempt to justify it. They will never admit they were wrong, or backpedal in any way. That would be unprofessional. Only an indie studio would do such a thing. They will cover up their bad patch by saying that it's working as intended and then will bandaid issues at a later time and never acknowledge their mistakes.
It's like they had beefed up and massively prepared their servers for launch to handle the traffic...but then did nothing for season 1.
The whole point of seasons is that you get tons of returning players, it's like they weren't expecting this at all.
I can't even get *in* the first quest dungeon. Loading screen hangs then I end up back outside (PS5). This was after getting a 28-30 min queue time with a new character, waiting, it crashing out after 10 mins only for the same thing to happen again..next go I was straight in, but now can't get in a dungeon. Guess I'll wait until tomorrow while they fix the broken.
Snap, we literally in same spot on same area too. like wtf lol
https://preview.redd.it/smzxh2q4t5db1.png?width=1470&format=png&auto=webp&s=ddddc76903dceec2c808b9016ec0d772b66021e4
That's the cut off for the other zone, that zone's instance can't accept nearly enough players.
Who would've thought most players would follow the seasonal quest?
Lol, Acti decided to release a non pay to win live service game so they just kill the game so they can shut the servers down
Tbh sounds like a super Acti thing to do
I like the mmo open world aspect. I even wish it was more sandboxy like Ultima Online with mining lumberjacking etc.
Just sucks the connectivity is the worst of any game since ultima online on dialup in 1999.
Nice, so everyone has this? I have this issue too and relog didnt fix. Some of the malignant events are buggy too. Feels super tested again :P
Edit: Also 2nd endless loading screen I've had since start now, only closing game on taskbar/with manager and relaunching helps. :)
Diablo is the dumbest game to try and show off cosmetics. I can't even see your $50 helmet through all the effects going off on the screen. I have no idea if people I see are wearing cosmetics from the game or from the shop when the characters only take up 3% of the screen.
Wait for the next area's instance to have enough space to accept you or log out and wait for less people to be trying to go the same route. I'm just mooching about killing some stuff and doing events for some xp, most people will all be trying to do the quest so you'll run into this everywhere along the quest trail.
I just waited in a loading screen for 5 minutes when I tried to enter a celler and got booted back out to the entrance so there's issues elsewhere at the moment too buy we already knew this would happen. Happens eventide there's an update to any game it seems.
Can we just appreciate for a moment how fake this "open world" wannabe MMO experience is? Pulling players in and out of instancing like ghosts in souls games.
Yeah it's not open world at all. You can even see on the map the sections they've had to build it in and connect them all together with shitty little paths.
I’ve done the same. Just trying to level whilst they sort this rubbish out. If Blizz were hoping for a successful season 1 launch, they just sh*t the bed.
“Being unable to progress to any other area in the game really goes to show how mature and masochistic my playstyle is, I’m not like you other soy boys who want to see other parts of the map delivered to you on a golden platter, git güd, lol.”
The bootlickers will just tell you to get over it, and that there’s nothing wrong with a little stuttering, and that it makes the game experience that much harder. Lmao so glad I uninstalled this already
Same. Plus never-ending loading screens in the first quest cellar. Also no enemies spawned, so I had to leave game. Oh, wait, logging in takes 5-10 minutes. Ah, phew, I'm in, enemies and objects load. Hmm, why can't I interact with the Quest's Slain Militia on the road, aren't they related to the Seasonal Quest?
/a-deep-resigning-sigh
Laughing so hard. Doesn't anybody still remember diablo 3 and how shit it was when it came out. Took years for it to be decent. I'm glad I didn't buy into the hype give Blizzard my money for this game.
I found blizzards response to this !
"Fixed a bug that allowed you to progress through the campaign too quickly. There will now be a timer of 30 minutes added between quests. For the small fee of $39.95, you can skip this timer. Enjoy the extra content we have enabled for everyone"
All that pre release hype they paid for.
The deluxe edition we paid for.
And this is what happens.
Give me Kirbys Dream Land on GameBoy any day over this shit. Kirby had principle.
I used to think how lucky kids are nowadays with the graphics and choice in gaming.
Nah.
Poor fucks never experienced buying a brilliant game and it actually being a finished, brilliant game.
Kirbys Dream Land 1992>diablo 4 2023
Yeah, you would think they ran those to learn and prevent this. I guess their solution instead of paying for more servers was to chase away some players by nerfing the whole game, but it wasn't enough.
Yep. Couldn't get into Kyovashad with my new Seasonal character, thought I'd, you know, log out and in again... mistake! Cannot get back into the game at all anymore now, not even on an Eternal character.
If they do what they did with D3 ( this assumes they learned something and used what worked - sarcasm intended ). Yes it should roll over to eternal realm. Items and such would be mailed to you as in game message attachments that have a 30 day grace period for you to figure out how to put in your gimped stash or disappear forever.
This is one thing that I can’t complain about; D4 runs smooth as silk on my ps5. Granted, I have great internet and a SSD in there, but 0 lag, hiccups, rubber banding or crashes
My favourite is a friend and I just hopped on at the exact same time. Like hit play within 10 seconds of each other. He got a 2 minute queue and is in with his new character. I'm stuck with 13 minutes left (and it's been 5 minutes) on my level 10 that I briefly managed to play earlier.
I think this is more than player volume and maybe something back end that's totally fucked.
Season 1 patch notes: fixed bug where player could ride around freely on their horse.
Developer’s Note: We have seen that skillful players are frequently moving through the world with ease. We want to support this, but the current situation is beyond what we believe is correct for the long-term health of the game. To chase this goal, we're making it more difficult to move while on mounts.
All the notes can be summed up with: We see that you’re having fun. We want to support you having fun. To do so, we will be removing the fun.
Beatings will continue until morale improves.
Also: Please feel free to buy a new skin to simulate your progression to other players for us, such fun....Sombodys gotta say it... Sorcs putting the trans in transmogs.
Pretty funny ngl
It's like if Path of Exile devs said exiles can't walk any paths
In Path of Exile there is an exile and a path, in diablo 4 there is not a single diablo. Let alone 4 diablos...
By removing some of the fun things the remaining fun things seem funner!
I genuinely laughed out loud reading this. Thanks for making my day just a little bit brighter!

Three amigos is a classic
She'll be coming round the mountain when she comes
Hahahahahaha. Spot on
Also - sorcerers will freeze their horse in place when they use speed boost. Or the horse will randomly switch direction every time you use speed boost.
Season 1 patch notes: fixed bug where player could ~~ride~~ move around freely ~~on their horse~~.
Season 1 patch note: Redefined what "Freely" meant.
* Fix an issue where players can play the game.
Also added additional time for remounting, especially near areas that require the player to dismount to climb.
Since when could you freely move around on your horse?!?!?! I think it's usually just as fast as on foot (with all the times getting "stuck" on edge of path/trees/etc)???
Why the fuck can’t we have offline mode, god
You really need to ask that.... seriously....
Because you are not allowed to have a functioning product. You might enjoy it and we can´t have that, now can we?
Where‘s the monetization in that?
This hasn't been an option in the AAA space for a decade now.
I hate that shit when you have a game that’s single player, designed as single player, maybe has some afterthought hacked in multiplayer mode no one ever uses, but yet you still have to be online to play the damn thing. That pisses me off more than anything.
You can play offline Diablo 3 on console.
Cdprojekt Red say hi
>option Depends on how flexible you are for defining options. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum Forcing a single player experience into a quarter-assed MMO space is relatively rare or even unique to Blizzard
Uh this is outrageously false. Basically these are all the games I play. Fromsoft games the online is largely optional (though it is super fun).
What a bullshit, 90% AAA titles don't need internet connection. Only from 2022 without thinking about it - Elden Ring, The last of us remake, spiderman remaster for PC, all nintendo games, all console games. There are only few games that actually need it, but the myth is alive.
Because you don't own the game, you rent it.
Bc FUCK YOU GIVE ME MONEYYY
"Because fuck you, we already have your money" -Blizzard
DRM and control over the game, they can destroy any attempt to mod. That's simple...
Because you might modify your values in game to have fun. We can’t allow that can we?
Because they can't collect the data for rebalancing and such if you're offline
It’s embarrassing that Season 1 launch is worse than actual launch.
Launch server has been ~~nerfed~~ adjusted to be more in line with other Blizzard's releases. Also, -75% to all Sorc's stat.
Fixed a bug where players could enter combat -> Players now die the moment an enemy appears on screen
Also fixed a bug where the sorcerer could survive stepping outside of Kyovashad or any other safe zone.

LOL
If only we had some kind of test realm, perhaps they could open it to the public? Maybe call it the public test realm.
What do you mean? PTR opened on June 6.
They aren't that humble. Besides, there's nothing wrong with their testing methods. You will see on the dev stream soon when they prove that by "explaining" their patch to us so they can attempt to justify it. They will never admit they were wrong, or backpedal in any way. Maybe the just took a look at the changes and thought: Nope, no one will be playing this flaming pile. No need to expect crowds.
Same, tried logging in and out, didn't work.
Tried the same. Can’t get back in now.
Took 7-8 mins for me to get back in tbf
I‘m still not back in. :/
still in queue after doing the same, over 40m now.
Also it's not just this area thats bugged. Couldn't get into a Legion event just now either.
Can’t even get past the first quest dungeon. ..
I can't even get *in* the first quest dungeon. Loading screen hangs then I end up back outside (PS5). This was after getting a 28-30 min queue time with a new character, waiting, it crashing out after 10 mins only for the same thing to happen again..next go I was straight in, but now can't get in a dungeon. wait you've left Kyovashad? I can't even leave lmaooooooo
Snap, we literally in same spot on same area too. like wtf lol https://preview.redd.it/smzxh2q4t5db1.png?width=1470&format=png&auto=webp&s=ddddc76903dceec2c808b9016ec0d772b66021e4
That's the cut off for the other zone, that zone's instance can't accept nearly enough players. Who would've thought most players would follow the seasonal quest?
The foresight is terrible it seems. Like obviously there's going to be obvious areas with lots of players that they can so easily plan for.
It's not like they have, \*check notes\*, all their past expansion releases and seasonal releases for the past 10+ years to draw data on.
Noooo! That's only Larian with Baldur's Gate 3 that has that advantage! /s
I haven't played today yet, but I'm taking this to mean the seasonal quest is funneling everyone into the same spot? Brilliant lmao
Lol jesus
lol happened to me in this exact spot as well
After that patch did you really expect them to be prepared for anything? Probably cut the server count in half since the launch to reduce costs.
Now I'm starting to think the patch was just their attempt to get half the players to quit so they could save server costs lol
Lol careful people who spread the truth end up experienceing an early end to there human experience 😳
Have to wonder, if you just play D4 and buy no other content, do you eventually become a net negative on the balance sheet.
Lol, Acti decided to release a non pay to win live service game so they just kill the game so they can shut the servers down Tbh sounds like a super Acti thing to do
Yep, everyone’s bought it that was gonna buy it, kill it and wrap it up thx
same! fuck this mmo open world shit ... no one need this is an arpg
I like the mmo open world aspect. I even wish it was more sandboxy like Ultima Online with mining lumberjacking etc. Just sucks the connectivity is the worst of any game since ultima online on dialup in 1999.
Man, that would be a surprisingly deep RPG element right there. My sorcerer forgot how to sorcer anyway so might as well work as a lumberjack.
Nah, that's far too dangerous. Could you imagine if the tree teleport away to random location after you chop it down?
Nothing will ever compare to Ultima Online. The pioneers in mmorpgs. It's incredible there are still active player run servers 24+ years later.
Nice, so everyone has this? I have this issue too and relog didnt fix. Some of the malignant events are buggy too. Feels super tested again :P Edit: Also 2nd endless loading screen I've had since start now, only closing game on taskbar/with manager and relaunching helps. :)
Glad to hear it, the assholes running the fireside chat tomorrow really can’t pretend that the patch was dropped and all is well now.
100 euro game... GIVE US OFFLINE MODE ffs .
They don't care about us, if people go offline mode they know others won't buy cosmetics to show off.
Diablo is the dumbest game to try and show off cosmetics. I can't even see your $50 helmet through all the effects going off on the screen. I have no idea if people I see are wearing cosmetics from the game or from the shop when the characters only take up 3% of the screen.
world of gaming ended up in shit place
Yeah I just logged out, no point of playing it today.
Literally this, it’s annoying asf
Haven't had a point to play it since launch week.
Why can’t blizzard make a working game? Are they stupid?
Amazing isn’t it? How on Earth you get around this?
Wait for the next area's instance to have enough space to accept you or log out and wait for less people to be trying to go the same route. I'm just mooching about killing some stuff and doing events for some xp, most people will all be trying to do the quest so you'll run into this everywhere along the quest trail. I’ve done the same. Just trying to level whilst they sort this rubbish out. If Blizz were hoping for a successful season 1 launch, they just sh*t the bed.
It's gone about as well as they expected, we can kinda play the game so it's a success in their eyes.
By uninstalling
You don’t - I just logged out for the day
They nerfed the servers..
But the Blizzard dickriders will surely defend this.
“Being unable to progress to any other area in the game really goes to show how mature and masochistic my playstyle is, I’m not like you other soy boys who want to see other parts of the map delivered to you on a golden platter, git güd, lol.”
They only come up during the day on operating hours... damn astroturfers
Be me in the middle of nowhere. Try to gallop. You can’t do that in town.
Skill issue
The bootlickers will just tell you to get over it, and that there’s nothing wrong with a little stuttering, and that it makes the game experience that much harder. Lmao so glad I uninstalled this already
I'm the exact same
Should I just hold off until those is fixed?.
nah this is just the stealth nerf to horses to have negative movement speed every other step. Inspired by the dev team, 1 step forward 4 steps back
Same area I'm stuck in. I also tried another way to enter this area. The same thing happened. So far so good!!!!!!!!
Same for me:)
lol this is awesome
Never play on patch day. Blizz still doing blizz things #nochanges
It's not patch day though :(
Don’t blame Blizzard. They are quite new so this can happen…
go to town and finish the quest at the table there,
this is how i fight world bosses
Not only in season. Also in eternal.
Also not being able to get into any dungeons and cellars. And many other of these invisibly gated areas around the map
2 steps forward, 3 steps back in the season? Sounds like the patch, but with more steps forward. We got progress here?
the horse is nerfed.
Stuck in dungeon loading screen too.
Multi $$$ company with double digits experience in game development btw
Turns out the server issues isn't people coming back, it's the servers being shit.
Got stuck in an infinity loading screen and quit :D
Laughing so hard. Doesn't anybody still remember diablo 3 and how shit it was when it came out. Took years for it to be decent. I'm glad I didn't buy into the hype give Blizzard my money for this game.
Same here... :((
Same
ah yes that place. now I cant even get in to the game :D
Guys, they truly listen to us. We wished for better servers, so they got servers from WISH
Crazy throwback to season 0!
Turn off cross play?
But without cross network play enabled, you will not encounter players on other platforms.
This glitch happened in many areas in the map
I found blizzards response to this ! "Fixed a bug that allowed you to progress through the campaign too quickly. There will now be a timer of 30 minutes added between quests. For the small fee of $39.95, you can skip this timer. Enjoy the extra content we have enabled for everyone"
I lost it when the 3rd horse got stuck 🤣

Had this same issue. Tried to relog, was hit with a 30min queue. Uninstalled. Too many other games to play to continue wasting time on D4 tbh.
I uninstalled after the patch. Seems like I made the right move. What a circus
Been stuck in the loading screen for a dungeon for about 10 minutes now.
At least it wasn't just me then, I thought it was a console problem but nope seems to be everywhere
Yeah just logged off. This is ridiculous.
Meh I’ve been perfectly fine on Xbox in a party…
If this happens to you, turn off cross platform play / chat. That fixed it for me.
[удалено]
Yeah, you would think they ran those to learn and prevent this. I guess their solution instead of paying for more servers was to chase away some players by nerfing the whole game, but it wasn't enough.
Haha, amazing. Blizzard have years of experience when it comes to stuff like this and they never fail to amuse me.
So given the rest of the patch - working as intended?
Same :/
Holy shit I thought it was just me. This is sad
Any ideas how to continue the quest
walk
Sams
Lol seems good.
Yep. Couldn't get into Kyovashad with my new Seasonal character, thought I'd, you know, log out and in again... mistake! Cannot get back into the game at all anymore now, not even on an Eternal character.
It happened to me even before the patch
Haven’t even been able to get on yet!
so, basically the same as before.
Mmmmmm. Reminds me of Beta getting stuck on a bridge and watching people just scoot right by me.
Feature not a bug. This is the horse thinking about moving. You need to move the cursor further from the horse to have it move and go fast.
Better than I expected!
Legend says they still trying
Good thing I’m at work!
I seen this so I travelled there. Had no prob. Lol. Must be EVERYONE though
I’ve never had this issue, the game in my opinion has been smooth and amazing
LMAO "im still playing and im enjoying it" meanwhile their horses...
Fix coming same time with resistance fix.
"WHY ARE U RUNNING!?"
That’s because your mana regenerate too fast, so nerf yourself fool so you can head back in faster
It’s because the boycott is slamming the servers…
Well its cool you at least made it in game... lol
Haven't had a single bug. Game is running smooth and my charge/kick barb is crushing it. Good luck fellow travelers!
Fun part is that this isn't even S1-specific. Happened too many times pre-S1 as well.
What happens when a season is over all your resources and gold and everything? Do you bring it with you to the eternal realm once the season ends?
If they do what they did with D3 ( this assumes they learned something and used what worked - sarcasm intended ). Yes it should roll over to eternal realm. Items and such would be mailed to you as in game message attachments that have a 30 day grace period for you to figure out how to put in your gimped stash or disappear forever.
Yeah it's bad right now. Rubberbanding like crazy
This is one thing that I can’t complain about; D4 runs smooth as silk on my ps5. Granted, I have great internet and a SSD in there, but 0 lag, hiccups, rubber banding or crashes
And they thought the patch was there to slow progress 😂
I ended up in an infinite loading screen righr now
What are y'all using for screen recording?
Press windows ( the key next to Alt ) + G. Should pop some overlay that allows you to record, including a button that records the previous 30secs.
Skill issue
“Fixed an issue where we delivered a finished product, we have now made so everyone is playing beta again”
I believe that is what Blizzard calls, "Working as intended"
Wait I thought seasons were supposed to be different from pre-season?
Absolute banger of gameplay.
Yeah. Then dungeon load screen stuck forever. Then log in queue. Quite the experience.
At least you got in
hey, but at least thanks to the devs that shop is working fine x)
What a shitshow, fast travel keeps freezing after waiting to actually get in game
