Big ups man, I'm in the same boat. Been playing for years, even using Ableton to add to live shows with a band, but finally getting into producing dnb.
Are you using plug-ins for bass?
Barely! I tried the new Bass xxl plug-in by Denise audio but it didnt quite work out so I skipped it. The bass itself is made in serum, i than split that waveform up into lows and mids, chopped it up and then reshaped the whole thing a bit more.
Hood stuff. I've been modding the hell out of Ableton stock instruments to get anything halfway decent, think I'm going to do the rent-to-own thing for Serum. Doesn't sound like there's anything that can really replace it
Might be worth it to try out Vital first. Very similar interface. Pretty powerful synth. I use it alongside phaseplant and get what I atleast think are decent results.but best of all its free so you can get used to it before investing in serum.
sounds cool love the vibe i reckon swap out or layer the drum samples with ones which are like the ones from your favourite dnb songs, spend as much time as you can trying to copy their mixdowns using their songs as a reference. drums need to be louder too. could experiment with volume changes too π€·π»ββοΈ
The mix doesn't feel very balanced. Low end is muddy. High end transients feel a bit too long. Mids are lacking.
Yea I need to look into mastering more
Those would be mix decisions not mastering
The makings of a decent little roller there, keep at it!
Really liking it man
