Melodic_Lie130

Holy shit... Never listened to them before. They are so fucking good.

AgreeablePollution7

I saw them live in Ohio a couple of weeks ago and it was the best show I've been to. I was completely blown away.

UpperDeckerSupreme

The best Black Metal band recommended.

sponges123

MycoRoo

Just found Cross Vault's album *As Strangers We Depart*, and it's awesome! Also, I've had the new Pallbearer and REZN albums on repeat, and have been re-listening to Smoulder's *Times of Obscene Evil and Wild Daring*, and can never get enough of Darkest Era's *Wither on the Vine*.

Dr_Quiet_Time

Who’s that first one?

sponges123

batushka - hospodi. super solid listen

originalface1

Check out Primordial, they're Ireland's greatest metal band, think of a mix of blackened heavy metal with influence from Irish trad music.

rgnnkja

This was my first thought as well. To The Nameless Dead is one my all time favorites.

hiromu666

seconded, "redemption at the puritans hand" kicks fucking ass

_reg1nn33

Good Selection, listen to Moonsorrow and Havukruunu and realise that finish Metal is superior.

PuzzleheadedEvent278

Havukruunu doesn't have a bad song, they are SO good.

_reg1nn33

Very unique sound aswell, they only sound similar to pagan bands like moonsorrow on the surface and language alone. They are both very epic sounding, my vafourite type of sound in metal..

sponges123

just finished voimasta ja kunniasta and youre right. this is killer.

_reg1nn33

They have a wide and varied catalogue, you will find many opinions online which of their albums is the best, i personally think Jumalten Aika is the the quintessential Moonsorrow Record and the best Pagan Metal Record of all times, today. Enjoy!

Caissededouze

I think you'd like Hollow by Hauntologist, another band from the drummer of Mgla and Kriegsmaschine. It's kind of a mix of black metal and post rock. A bit of a grower but very well worth giving a few listens.

sponges123

ive been playing this album on repeat all day lol. thanks for the rec

rgnnkja

Hollow is easily my favorite 2024 song so far. The album is also great.

RealSamuraiSunset

Hangmans chair- Naïve

Serf_wizard

Love HMC. Their last record was amazing, they keep getting better.

hiromu666

altar of plagues - mammal is really good too, check out doom:vs or if you want something different check out truckfighters

Dave_I

Forgive the rant, but Altar of Plagues has a great discography overall. White Tomb is just a great more traditional Black Metal album and amazing. Mammal is like a Post-Rock Black Metal album and gorgeous. It surprised me how pretty and ambient some of the parts were, and "Neptune is Dead" is a quick 18-minute track, so to speak. Teether Glory and Injury is just unsettling and beautiful and cathartic and I love it. The EPs are also really pretty as well, very atmospheric and moody and really enjoyable. I'm hoping they reform or have some reunion tour, because they are a band I would love to see live but only got into after they dissolved. I know James Kelly is making music under Wife but I have not quite gotten into that just yet. While not the OP, I'll check out Doom:VS and Truckfighters. As a fellow Melvins & Altar of Plagues fan I'll give your recommendations a shot.

Mont_918

Havukruunu - Kelle surut soi

MrUnkn0wn

Check out Worm - Foreverglade. Starpath and Bluenothing are great too.

The last three Darkthrone albums or really all of them. Early Ulver, but especially Nattens Madrigal and Perdition City.

Nice. I've not seen anyone else listen to Windhand and Kriegsmaschine. Dodsrit are black metal riff central. One of my favourite bands atm. Gaerea Wayfarer Ultar Blackbraid Bismarck Konvent Panzerfaust Hope you enjoy any one of these. Happy listening!!

PuzzleheadedEvent278

Panzerfaust. Another excellent choice

AgreeablePollution7

I second the recommendation for Hollow by Hauntologist. Incredible album, similar to Mgla (same drummer) but closer to post-black.

thatguy190u8

Pentagram and acid bath means your a real foo

PowerGirlAstral

Whoever said Dodsrit and Spectral Wound, God bless you! I just listened to them amazing stuff

PuzzleheadedEvent278

Love Batushka and MGLA, you should explore Ulcerate's discography. Less doom, more atmospheric

Neuzboy

Black metal on a doom metal forum?! I would have to suggest Throane.

Not doom, but I've been getting really into Primitive Man frontman Ethan McCarthy's other band Vermin Womb. It's cool to hear his insane low, gutteral vocals in more of a death metal/grindcore style.
