I kind of wonder how new players of the franchise will react when they find out some of us romanced one of the villains (the redeemable one perhaps). And how many will thirst for him, fully knowing who he is. Things in the Solasmancer community will start getting real interesting.
Don't believe the lies. This is fake news spread by the crooked Inquisitor. They held a rigged Exalted Council and smeared Solas' name. Can you believe that, folks? Solas just wants to make the Fade great again.
The Divine is a former member of the Inquisition. This was entirely unfair. And let's not even talk about the convenient Qunari assault. Clearly a false flag operation.
This is one of descriptions of all time. It reminds me of moment in Dragon Age Origins when My Warden gathered all Origins and Oghren asked "What are we? Some kind of Dragon Age Origins?"
That’s true. To be honest I wouldn’t actually mind a smaller scale story for the next game. I know it’s not happening for Dreadwolf but maybe the one after that.
i did too and it ran horribly. it would often crash during loading screens. when I first got it I was a bit disappointed (i completed the playthrough anyway), but later on when I upgraded to ps4 I got the game again and could finally experience it properly.
That's what description do though. Their sole purpose is to pique your interest. Since you can't cram any meaningful information about the game into couple of sentences - all that is left are catch phrases and buzz words. Saying "it's the same thing everyone does" is like saying that all stories are boring because they mostly follow the same three act structure.
They've previously said that a release date would be given this summer, and because of some tweets from Jeff Grubb, it's reasonable to expect the release date or other big news to happen this weekend.
Change "Dreadwolf" to Origins, Inquistion or 2 and nothing will change. Hell, switch "Dreadwolf" and "Thedas" for idk "Elder Scrolls VI" and "Tamriel" and it will pass as a TES VI marketing lmao.
Just a regular boring pre-full reveal promo material.
Sometimes it is such a big breath of fresh air to be just the dirty commoner, with more mundane problems like avoid being foreclosed, like in Outward, or recovering a sword, like in Kingdom Come (not a magical sword or anything, just a sword your dad forged before being killed)
Thanks! And most certainly! I am quite happy with those two titles getting a new release, means that there is love out there for them.
For those reading this and not in the know, Outward and Kingdom Come - Deliverance are titles that, while not exactly overtly difficult, approach things from a different angle from that of the usual world threat - chosen one dynamic. Instead, you build yourself from the ground up.
And it doesn't matter if you are not the Inquisitor closing a breach, you are just the lowly Henry of Skalitz, and the only thing you accomplished is scaring off a couple of brigands from robbing the local stables. But it means the world to you, because it took a lot of effort to pull off.
I wholeheartedly encourage everyone reading this to give both titles a try. Outward is a must with a friend!
To be fair, at the time they still planned for Hawke to be the Commander Shepherd of Dragon Age. They really thought DA2 was going to be the origin story of the character who would go on to become the most important person in the world of Thedas.
There are remnants left over from this in Inquistion when Hawke comes up and they are talked about as some sort of epic hero of the age and then you step outside the meta narrative where they were a protagonist and go, wait why are they such a big deal again? As far as things that impacted the world outside of Kirkwall, basically all they did was free Corypheus and enable a terrorist attack that started a civil war.
I mean ya. But they havnt revealed anything about the game. What would you really expect it to say. "welcom to Dragon Age; Dreadwold, Its Dragon Aging time"
I guess the labyrinth part might hint at something? But yeah, quite open and non-defined.
Depends on how close to the game the people writing those descriptions are, we might put our tin foil hats and start speculating. For example, "savage combat" might not be the words I would use to describe Origins, so Dreadwolf might be quite action packed, DA2 style.
We will see soon enough.
Recommending that people don't freak out over the word 'leader' like please it just means 'main character'. You're the leader of a group in EVERY game not just Inquisition.

Please stop posting random X accounts as factual. This description has been up as a generic placeholder for months now. Full reveal will bring with it an actual description.
Yeah.
And the same performative criticism. Like, do people think they’re going to give away a detailed plot description before the actual full reveal? It’s meant to be a non-descriptive filler designed to impart a mood.
In a week we will have all new things to dig into, over analyze, and make grand theories about. Myself included.
Edit: Good Lord, there’s almost a pathological need among some to seize every opportunity to be as negative as possible. An old placeholder description is enough to rally the “BioWare is dead” crowd. It’s sad at this point.
…And now ChatGPT conspiracies. There’s days I’m embarrassed to be in this fandom. I swear, do people not remember when we had awful edgelord Marilyn Manson songs to promote Origins in a lame attempt to seem hip? A bland placeholder description is a step up from that.
It says nothing with many words, but I really don't want yet another world leader after the inquisitor. Give me the tiny Antivan Crow or the half-talented Mortalitasi who doesn't lead armies and councils but is the underdog who defeats/convinces Solas through cunning or whatever.
In that teaser, Varric says they need a hero that Solas doesn't know and can't see coming. So I think this game's protagonist will be more akin to the Hero of Ferelden, that was a wanted underdog, making secret aliances and moves against Loghain, than the Inquisitor. And I like it.
> Varric says they need a hero that Solas doesn't know and can't see coming
This will be a no-name character who, after 2 hours of play, will become the head of the resistance... oh wait
This is just the safe description to get the store page set up before we get more info and they announce pre-orders are live, I imagine they're just setting the stage for the marketing.
Fun Fact: Thedas got its name from the writers not actually having a name for the area. It was labeled “The Dragon Age Setting” for all of development, but when it came time to actually name the thing no one could land on a good name they all wanted. Seeing it shortened to “The D.A.S.” led to it just being pronounced “Thedas” and that’s how the world got its name.
Two thoughts: 1- this is the most bland and generic description they could find for a DA game.
2- They obviously won't spoil all the effort they are putting into the reveal by releasing a description that gives meaningful information about the game.
I swear, if we don't get a trailer (and I mean a *trailer*, not a slide show with voice over) by Sunday at most, this fandom will collectively explode into rage & despair demons O.o
You know the only thing that worries me? We have no idea what sort of game this will be. I'm not saying "oh, will it be good or bad?", this is specifically "well, it might play like GoW or it might play like Trine, we aren't really sure".
This game has been in development for years, and I have no idea what sort of sequel this is meant to be or how it will play. Which is weird, because that's exactly what you should be hyping up or have clarified. Does no one else find this incredibly bizarre?
We can't just use one of the leads from literally any of the other games? I'm so tired of the new leader trope with this series and wish we could circle back to the one who held back the Darkspawn in Origins, Hawke with a meatier role than in Inquisition, or the Inquisitor themselves.
There are so many to pick from, just pick one instead of creating yet another "chosen one".
I genuinely want this game to be good, but the fact that the last DA game came out a decade ago and we really haven't gotten any groundbreaking news on Dreadwolf since originally announced, I'm not as hyped as I would like to be.
Maybe... It's been led by multiple different leads at this point and has been loaded with Staffing issues. I love DA, but and cautiously waiting to see more.
My only problem that I have with this series and other game series as well is the need for new protagonist every game. I know it's probably because they want to apply to new audience and many people probably don't want to play games before the new game but I'm still stuck on my warden lol. I think he was the coolest of them 3. From young inexperienced to commander of grey wardens finding love with the witch of the wilds.... Best and most interesting story imo
OK. so the game is going to take place in Thedas and you will have companions of some description. Amazing, its almost like I am already playing the game!
Damn, you guys are so thirsty for stuff a description that's been in the store for at least months gets 1.6K upvotes?
I hope this game comes out soon before someone gets hurt.
*Thedas needs a new leader.* Not another 'unexpected savior with the power of the MacGuffin' story. The Inquisitor and Warden were more than enough.
Maybe I'm just reading too much into a vague description, but this doesn't sound like the small elite team of relative nobodies fighting powers and dangers much bigger and greater than themselves to save the world that the game advertised back in the day.
I don't want to be another holy symbol or great leader. I want to be the guy in the shadows, that helps place other people into places of power, while doing the things public figures cannot do.
The Red Jennys were always a little too unserious for me. More pranksters than assassins and saboteurs. Some were more serious for sure, but they're not main character material.
Would love to encounter a Red Jenny in the game tho. Do a mission with them. Help them or hinder them. That would be a good callback.
I thought they were more saboteurs until we met sera. I refuse to think she’s really all there is to the red Jenny’s. But that’s my own belief. So much wasted potential there- a living circulatory system of spies built into every area of the world, and all they do is spit in your food.
tbh I don’t want to be a leader of some huge movement like in inquisition
Origins holds a special place because you literally build things up over the course of the whole game and the whole world is against you the entire way. Hawke’s journey was special to me because time passed and she went from being a mercenary to a noblewoman to a champion over the course of years
idk the disconnect with the inquisitor was a lot stronger to me, and she had like a stupid amount of power and influence right from the get go
Don't get me wrong, but why does this description sound like a choice based mobile game :/
Well, it's not an insult as I played many of them and some were actually amazing. (Fantasy ones like The Crown and the Flame from Choices.)
I just think that instead of making it sound like an epic fantasy adventure game, they should've have made it sound like a hopeless and dire situation. (Which it is.) Asking will you be the leader, and will you be able to keep everyone together. Like, the world is ending brother...
We’re complaining about it but it’s interesting it vaguely says Thedas instead of just Tevinter. Maybe we’ll be exploring more than just the Imperium like I’ve been thinking.
Isn't this also the gist of Mass effect 2...the whole "assemble different extraordinary individuals in a team" completing their loyalty missions and whatnot!
At first I was confused as to why we needed someone new since the Inquisitor at the end of Tresspasser is a walking disaster.
Then I remembered that Solas removed the Mark…….
The way it seems not to understand what Thedas is (a vibrant land of rugged wilderness, rlly?), I'm pretty sure ChatGPT had something to do with that description. Generally the whole thing has that very Chatgpt feel to it.
My favorite quote from the prologue is going to be the moment the Dreadwolf comes out of the shadows and says "Thedas will now learn what it means to Dread the Wolf" and the title screen appears.
So... We (the player) will finally end in a permanent position of power?
>!Cuz, Warden was an emissary and consul of Ferelden and Commander for a time of the Gray Warden Orden in Ferelden. But Leave it's Duty, for "unknown but know" reasons.
Hawk could end as viscount of Kirkwall, but have to hide cuz the risk of an Exalted March
The inquisitor disbanded the inquisition.!<
The fact that they're taking so long to release any actually news and info on this game does not look good to me. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not getting my hopes for this game and biowares future.

DID YOU KNOW WE NEED SOMEONE NEW TO STOP SOLAS
HE’S THE DREAD WOLF GUYS!!!!
BRO SPOILERS!! I WANTED TO FIND OUT WHO JOHN "DRAGONAGE" DREADWOLF REALLY WAS!!
Is he a cousin of John Elden Ring?
And John Halo as well, yes.
lotta Johns in that family
It's a family tradition to name the firstborn kid John.
I kind of wonder how new players of the franchise will react when they find out some of us romanced one of the villains (the redeemable one perhaps). And how many will thirst for him, fully knowing who he is. Things in the Solasmancer community will start getting real interesting.
Now I don’t even need to play, you’ve told me the whole game!!
We don't even know if there is a big tiddy goth GF minotaur to fuck or not. The best parts have yet to come!
Damn, totally didn't know I needed this til now!
What. Really?
Don't believe the lies. This is fake news spread by the crooked Inquisitor. They held a rigged Exalted Council and smeared Solas' name. Can you believe that, folks? Solas just wants to make the Fade great again.
Solas was convicted on all 34 counts, bro
The Divine is a former member of the Inquisition. This was entirely unfair. And let's not even talk about the convenient Qunari assault. Clearly a false flag operation.
MAGA = Make Arlathan Great Again
Die in a keep fire
What are we? Some kind of Dread Wolf Squad?
I VOLUNTEER. Oh, wait, I thought you said 'top'.
Are you a bad enough dude to ~~rescue the president~~ stop the dreadwolf?
Who's that Solas guy ? Is he powerful ?
This is one of descriptions of all time. It reminds me of moment in Dragon Age Origins when My Warden gathered all Origins and Oghren asked "What are we? Some kind of Dragon Age Origins?"
then they Origin’d all over the place
Not to be confused with Ohgren-ing all over the place, which I'm told HR no longer gives you a pass for that
You don't want anyone's Ohgren on you, there's dirt in it
Man I didn’t know I was actually playing Dragon Age Origins until the final speech when my warden says: “Origins assemble”
The real Dragon Age is the Origins we found along the way.
😂😂😂 nope, still nonsense
It’s origin time!
I can't believe it Grey Warden, you've been the Dragon Age Origins 2009 all along
No, the real dragon age origins were the friends we made along the way.
Or when Isabella said “what are you, some kind of champion of Kirkwall?”
Thank you for the Origins, age Dragon!
So thats why it's called that, I always wondered
I don’t think this is new, the same description was posted last week.
That’s the same description for every dragon age game
Technically only Origin and Inquisition. The stakes weren't as high in 2. Just the fate of Kirkwall.
That’s true. To be honest I wouldn’t actually mind a smaller scale story for the next game. I know it’s not happening for Dreadwolf but maybe the one after that.
Bold to assume there will be any more after this one, after the literal decade it took to make it.
When did Inquisition come out?
You could just Google it. It’s 2014.
Looking back I think I originally had Inquisition on PS3.
i did too and it ran horribly. it would often crash during loading screens. when I first got it I was a bit disappointed (i completed the playthrough anyway), but later on when I upgraded to ps4 I got the game again and could finally experience it properly.
I didn’t finish it on PS3. Currently playing it on PS5. Also, just wish they remaster Origins for Ps5.
This description been out for months 😭
Yeah man I'm so done with the fake updates
It’s been up since they put the steam/console store pages up for the game
It's the same description every game gives. I feel like I'm digging through corporate buzz words and catch phrases to derive absolutely nothing.
Agreed, I wish descriptions would be more interesting. This is a very generic marketing blurb. Which I suppose it is.
Very 'Go girl give us nothing'
They're not paying me enough to put on work brain to decipher descriptions lmao
That's what description do though. Their sole purpose is to pique your interest. Since you can't cram any meaningful information about the game into couple of sentences - all that is left are catch phrases and buzz words. Saying "it's the same thing everyone does" is like saying that all stories are boring because they mostly follow the same three act structure.
I feel like a description should, ya know, describe the game. I could slap this under any RPG and it would fit. This is nothing.
Only thing is this isn’t a very intriguing description.
'This marketing copy is shit and should be better.' 'Thats the point!' you exclaim, beret thrown to the wind.
All those words and yet nothing really said, besides the full reveal date
Not even that - just says “summer 2024” lol - that’s a wide window not a date 😭 Unless I’m missing something
Or any other game where a new hero is needed to save the world.
Sometimes it is such a big breath of fresh air to be just the dirty commoner, with more mundane problems like avoid being foreclosed, like in Outward, or recovering a sword, like in Kingdom Come (not a magical sword or anything, just a sword your dad forged before being killed)
You name dropped two very good ones :) (who are also getting sequels!)
You can even replace both "DA:D" and "Thedas" with "Stardew Valley" and it would still work. lol
Yeah even sims 4 kinda works
Unless you meet Jim Pickens
Solas wishes he had half the dread Jim Pickens inspires.
Some say he was the one who brought the blight to Thedas. Just because he was bored.
I love to see a CallMeKevin reference out in the wild 😂
So, we get Solas in the swimming pool and remove the ladder? Seems easy enough.
To be fair, this description doesn’t really work with 2
"Thedas needs a new leader. Well, they are not getting it."
"in fact, they're losing some more"
"Thedas needs a new leader. Unfortunately, Kirkwall is hell on earth, so better search somewhere else."
I dunno. With the Inquistor literally manning the port chains, Kirkwall may be doing better now🤣🤣
You don’t recall the “most important person in the world of Thedas” marketing?
"welcom to Dragon Age; Dreadwold, Its Dragon Aging time"
"This dragon is well-aged, with hints of oak, blueberries, and brimstone." 🍷🐲
Behold for the return of the legendary protagonist: JOHN DRAGONAGE!
Friendship and romance aren't really a big part of TES.
There are like 50 different marriages you can enter in Skyrim and every single one is bland and kills the personality of the person you proposed to
Yeah, TES games always start to feel lonely. The NPCs each seem to have a max of like 10 lines of dialogue.
Exactly. A fellowship of individuals. Seems much more like Origins and 2 than Inquisition.
So you're telling me Alistair is still long, then?
What's new? Looks the same

Thanks, ChatGPT :)
Looks pretty much the same as the description here lol
"As an AI model I...."
Please stop posting random X accounts as factual. This description has been up as a generic placeholder for months now. Full reveal will bring with it an actual description.
This isn't new info. I gotta mute this subbreddit because the same shit is being posted every 5 minutes lol. See you all in a week.

Its the same description from 6 months ago its nothing new
Maybe they finally found Cmdr. Shepard under all this rubble.
ChatGPT couldn't have put it more blandly.
Bold to assume they didn’t use ChatGPT for this lmao
Bold to assume ChatGPT couldn't do better.
Yesss girl give us nothing lol
It says nothing with many words, but I really don't want yet another world leader after the inquisitor. Give me the tiny Antivan Crow or the half-talented Mortalitasi who doesn't lead armies and councils but is the underdog who defeats/convinces Solas through cunning or whatever.

Oh god, Varric is in this one too?
he narrated a teaser or two for Dreadwolf, I recall. No idea if he's a companion, or maybe promoted to an advisor-type NPC.
I don't even come here often and I already know that promo from a long long time ago. That's not new
*The beacons are lit !* *Thedas calls for aid !* *And Par Vollen shall answer !*
Reads like it was written by an AI
This is just the safe description to get the store page set up before we get more info and they announce pre-orders are live, I imagine they're just setting the stage for the marketing.
“Teeters on a knife’s edge” Ah, the red lyrium blade…
Fun Fact: Thedas got its name from the writers not actually having a name for the area. It was labeled “The Dragon Age Setting” for all of development, but when it came time to actually name the thing no one could land on a good name they all wanted. Seeing it shortened to “The D.A.S.” led to it just being pronounced “Thedas” and that’s how the world got its name.
A leader that no one expects....SANDAL IS THE NEXT MC GUYS!!!!!! IT'S ENCHANTMENT TIME
That sounds like a corporate speak posting for a job hire.
Sounds like Inquisition.
Two thoughts: 1- this is the most bland and generic description they could find for a DA game. 2- They obviously won't spoil all the effort they are putting into the reveal by releasing a description that gives meaningful information about the game.
I just want to see the PC requirements so I can upgrade parts if I need to 😭
I swear, if we don't get a trailer (and I mean a *trailer*, not a slide show with voice over) by Sunday at most, this fandom will collectively explode into rage & despair demons O.o
What were people expecting? New info? You can put this description for any other RPG because it has to be generic…cause the game hasn’t been shown yet
This isn’t a new description at least not on the internet no idea where this screenshot is from lol
Summer 2024? Probably Game Fest that's in a couple of days. There's also Devcom, Gamescom and Pax West in late August.
It sounds, vaguely, like it’s a heist movie for some reason. But i think it’s all the corporate jargon eroding any sense of meaning in the text
This is just ultra-generic filler that will be replaced when more actual information is revealed.
You know the only thing that worries me? We have no idea what sort of game this will be. I'm not saying "oh, will it be good or bad?", this is specifically "well, it might play like GoW or it might play like Trine, we aren't really sure". Which is weird, because that's exactly what you should be hyping up or have clarified. Does no one else find this incredibly bizarre?
New leader? Didn’t we literally just do that by establishing the inquisition as a dominant force?
This shit is so blatantly chat gpt ughhh
We can't just use one of the leads from literally any of the other games? I'm so tired of the new leader trope with this series and wish we could circle back to the one who held back the Darkspawn in Origins, Hawke with a meatier role than in Inquisition, or the Inquisitor themselves. Yup!! If they had made it like mass effect ..swoon
As an aside, I would still kill for Minrathous to end up actually looking like that in-game.
OK. so the game is going to take place in Thedas and you will have companions of some description. Amazing, its almost like I am already playing the game!
Such EA, much wow
Damn, you guys are so thirsty for stuff a description that's been in the store for at least months gets 1.6K upvotes? I hope this game comes out soon before someone gets hurt.
chatgpt looking ass description
Whoever wrote this loves them some word structure

I'm pretty sure this was made with chatgpt. Is the most bland description ever.
Would prefer a game about the red jennys!! Just spying and setting up things for people you don’t like and seeing the consequences
Generic game description is generic.
You could have slapped that onto Inquisition and Origins and it would have made sense. Its such a generic description
I'm keeping my expectations so low, that even if you map all the deep roads you won't find it, whatever happens, happens
tbh I don’t want to be a leader of some huge movement like in inquisition Origins holds a special place because you literally build things up over the course of the whole game and the whole world is against you the entire way. Hawke’s journey was special to me because time passed and she went from being a mercenary to a noblewoman to a champion over the course of years idk the disconnect with the inquisitor was a lot stronger to me, and she had like a stupid amount of power and influence right from the get go
Don't get me wrong, but why does this description sound like a choice based mobile game :/ Well, it's not an insult as I played many of them and some were actually amazing. (Fantasy ones like The Crown and the Flame from Choices.) I just think that instead of making it sound like an epic fantasy adventure game, they should've have made it sound like a hopeless and dire situation. (Which it is.) Asking will you be the leader, and will you be able to keep everyone together. Like, the world is ending brother...
If there isn’t an option to side with Solas, I’m rioting.
God another "become the most important person in the world story"? So boring. Much would have preferred this be a personal tale.
I think it's in the Dragon Age website, so it's a generic summary of the franchise... Just 3 more days guys, wait and we'll have our reward!
It's summer 2024 yup? I hope the reveal is soon.
We’re complaining about it but it’s interesting it vaguely says Thedas instead of just Tevinter. Maybe we’ll be exploring more than just the Imperium like I’ve been thinking.
Man I really hope this game is good I’ve been waiting so long :(

Hoping we will just be the leader of a small group, don't really want more of the "chosen one" leader stuff again.
This description gave me the opposite of hype :/
My beautiful 🥚!!!
Aren't we heading to Tevinter though?
I am not ok. Guys guys guys i need this
You could literally apply that description to every Dragon Age.
I don't care - just give me the egg!
I'm so excited. I didn't think Solas would return 😊
Isn't this also the gist of Mass effect 2...the whole "assemble different extraordinary individuals in a team" completing their loyalty missions and whatnot!
That feels like it could literally be the description for Inquisition lol
I summon- eye of the tiger!

It feels like a template for any action and/or adventure game honestly
So... We (the player) will finally end in a permanent position of power? >!Cuz, Warden was an emissary and consul of Ferelden and Commander for a time of the Gray Warden Orden in Ferelden. But Leave it's Duty, for "unknown but know" reasons. Hawk could end as viscount of Kirkwall, but have to hide cuz the risk of an Exalted March The inquisitor disbanded the inquisition.!<
If it wasn't so fucking bland people would piss their pants about spoilers.
As a veteran of dragon age with hundreds of hours in each game, wow this looks mid.
This description is so nondescript it's sending me
>Thedas needs a new leader hopefully not the player. it's just weird for the player to be the leader and also everybody's errand person.
Sounds like an Indeed job advert 🤣
Weren't we a beacon in Inquisition?
This was written by AI, right?
10 fucking years... TEN!!!
Dreadwolf MC confirmed to be a world-conquering super villain, I guess. Setting us up as the villain for Dragon Age 5?
Only John Dreadwolf can stop that fucking elf
They better let you save Solas.
This game better be good. I dont think my heart can take another mid entry to a beloved franchise.
No offence, but that looks like it was written by an intern. It could be more interesting than that. Come on!
I have 0 expectations but part of me is excited
It's still the big B

The fact that they're taking so long to release any actually news and info on this game does not look good to me. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not getting my hopes for this game and biowares future.
It's okay, Bioware. I know you don't care either.
