Honestly it's my least favorite monsters game. The ration mechanic goes from being unforgiving to irrelevant not long into the game. My main complaint is that battles take way too long imo. I did beat the story but couldn't be bothered with the post game, unlike the other monsters games.

I went for 100% completion, its one of the best DQM games but sadly extremely overlooked by most DQ fans
I played it and honestly, yeah, I didn't like it either. People who like it really like the caravan system and say that people who didn't like it just didn't want to deal with hunger, but no, the caravan system was my big problem with it.
It’s only a few hours of gameplay before you get a second wagon and a second guard monster in the party.
Still not sure when you unlock breeding, just started the game recently.
I can appreciate that they were trying something new but also am not that sad that it was never localized.
Maybe if we ever get a DQM anniversary edition collection I'll give it another try

It does start off pretty hard without many rations but it gets easier as you progress
