Having just finished Turn Coat for the 2nd time this morning, I love this idea, but I feel like it might be a dead giveaway, casting someone well known (at least in my circles) for what appears to be a minor role.
Really? I recognized who he was, but only from 2 things (HP and DragonHeart), and one of those was from before the turn of the century. I can't even remember his name correctly without looking it up, lol. Seemed an appropriate level of 'fame' for the role he was disguised as.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that he's not a phenomenal actor. Just not 'well known' enough for me that I would immediately assume he was a main character, despite the minor role introduction.
This is better than some of the other posts. Butters is fundamentally a nerds nerd. Any overt coolness in his appearance or mannerism ruins the effect for me.
His coolness comes from inside, from who he is to his friends and enemies and his attitude.
One of my favorite characters, and somewhat underrated by many.
This is who I picture for Butters
[Waldo Butters](https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-att-us-rvc3&sca_esv=f6d1ce0ec709c82c&sxsrf=ADLYWIL8jLEyrcQeJNw6q1HbtKXh60zRoA:1719079106404&q=james+bond+pen+click+guy&udm=2&fbs=AEQNm0DvD4UMlvdpwktgGj2ZHhIXtktV_n5Sb1mPlHT0eDBk5ZCzEaSTALdseHaccpMmpY1ilbXzybcZ9h-XMeasUN_YugGCgS95KXG6mV1iQbH2yLZ4Spc3TJPwPjRa9P_HEi2W_PyX_38_6armpcsyaSjErzqKv4Lb2AoAZUqCrw3vjwOVsLqFsC6ioAYJ4XUFOZ_n-p0norKN2O9KtOU_Bk1IHjPW2A&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwimmunb5O-GAxVpMDQIHZGAAloQtKgLegQIDBAB&biw=412&bih=760&dpr=2.63#vhid=aof_EFvh1tgZrM&vssid=mosaic)
In my head Mortimer is Pruitt Taylor Vince you know that tall white dude with the shakey Forrest Whittaker eyes from Constantine and identity…best friend in film history totally willing to drop a gun for his partner although having the gun was weird lol
Oh, not for me. For me there has always been only one Langtry actor, and that's Christopher Lee just as he appeared as Saruman in Lord of the Rings. Just picture him for that scene in *Changes* where he's all decked out with his war belt of potions and so on - he would rock.
Hmmm mayhapps I always thought of him because he plays succcchhh a good piece of crap ever see escape from Alcatraz with Clint Eastwood he’s the warden in it
Butters is small and wiry and somewhat high strung. He is not a paunchy middle aged man. He would never pass for a bureaucrat.
I don’t think it’s in the text, but I also have the distinct impression that he looks and acts younger than his late-30s canonical age.
I know he in no way resembles the physical description but based on his behavior I can't help but see
[Dr. Bill Lee](https://www.gateworld.net/wiki/images/0/04/Bill-Lee.jpg)
Peabody? Yea.
Butters, No.
I kinda want Butters to be cast as a “hot nerd”.
Not Johnny Sinns or anything like that. But definitely a dude who looks like he could possibly be in a triad.
A guy who puts the “king” in short king.
This is actually what Mortimer Lindquist looks like in my head! Well pulled
He definitely would pull off playing Mort. The guy who plays Palmer on NCIS would make a good butters
Oooh.. I love this idea.
That's who I picture, too.
I’ve always pictured Patton Oswalt as Mortimer Lindquist.
This is also exactly who I see when listening to marsters doing butters
oops, i just said the same thing before stumbling across this.
Otherwise he could make a decent peabody

That ruined the reveal of the villain in Wonder Woman.
Same for Kiss the Girls

David costabile is my choice for that reason (the goofy scientist in breaking bad)
If he was younger I could totally see it!
I honestly see him more as a Mortimer Lindquist guy
Mine is basically Weird Al, but with a smaller perm and blonde.
I thought I was the only one! I don't know why but he popped into my head and won't leave 😭
Not bad, but I always see Charlie Day.
I thought the show actually cast him perfect with Tyler Labine. Nerdy with the potential for what Butters becomes.
I’ve never seen the show, but he is a great choice
This is Morty to me!

This is how I picture Binder.
I've always pictured Mark Sheppard as Binder. Maybe it's Marsden's voice for him, but it's always ever been in my mind for Binder.
For me Binder is Bob Hoskins
Ooh. Bob Hoskins would have been absolutely *perfect* for Binder, may he rest in peace
Quick, somebody lock up the digital rights to Hoskins' image, voice, and movements!
Isn’t Butters young with a full head of hair?
I think Daniel Radcliffe could be an excellent Butters- especially given his polka experience playing Weird Al!
Dudes like 60. I can see him as Peabody though. Edit: These picks though... have you people read the books?
In my head I always see Butters as a 40-ish Rob Schneider. With that wiry frame and wild hair.
No, no, no. This guy is Mortimer Lindquist.
Eh, this is who i imagined for Mortimer
Honestly I imagine Johnny Galeki (Leonard from The Big Bang Theory) as Butters.
Close, but more Mort to me. Of course I just cracked Ghost Story for maybe the 5th time so that's where my head's at :-)
I’d imagined Josh Gad
Same actor I've pictured, channeling his Ever After work.
I always picture him as T.J. Thyne fresh out of Bones.
Since watching Brooklyn 99, my pick is Joe Lo Truglio.
I picture Beer Fest Steve Lemme.
Polka. Will. Never. Die.
I definitely see him as a Mort, but I've always thought of Butters as a shorter version of Dave Burd, or more recently maybe Daniel Radcliffe.
I imagine Butters as a slightly heavier Brian Dietzen. Though that might be because he also plays a coroner on NCIS.
Butters is 5’3” and 130 pounds. He’s not slightly heavier than anything.
I picture him as Daniel Radcliffe playing Weird Al
In my head Mortimer is Pruitt Taylor Vince you know that tall white dude with the shakey Forrest Whittaker eyes from Constantine and identity…best friend in film history totally willing to drop a gun for his partner although having the gun was weird lol
In my head Merlin (Arthur) was Patrick magooin you know longshanks sr from braveheart
Oh, not for me. For me there has always been only one Langtry actor, and that's Christopher Lee just as he appeared as Saruman in Lord of the Rings. Just picture him for that scene in *Changes* where he's all decked out with his war belt of potions and so on - he would rock.

better than most of the piss poor "casting" hot takes i see in this subreddit. nothing to be ashamed off. take my upvote. cheers.
This is my Butters https://images.app.goo.gl/9HAuqGuRx7kECS7cA
I know he in no way resembles the physical description but based on his behavior I can't help but see [Dr. Bill Lee](https://www.gateworld.net/wiki/images/0/04/Bill-Lee.jpg)
Nah, Waldo is well described as short, wiry, beaky and with dark, wild hair as if it were caught in a Tesla coil. I kinda picture Robert Carradine.
Polka will never die!
This is my Butters too! I know he doesn't match the description, but the general air of the character is so perfect to the actor.
Someone who understands me
This is who I've pictured the entire time.
YES
For me that's closer to Mortimer Lindquist. Not quite there, but close.
Steve Lemme from Beerfest.
Closest yet! But Butters is a little younger.
I kind of had Wayne Knight in mind
he almost 70...
Head Cannon. Head age he is always just as he is in Jurassic Park
Now I'm picturing Rudolph as Don from 3rd from the sun why does my brain do this
Peabody? Yea. Butters, No. I kinda want Butters to be cast as a “hot nerd”. Not Johnny Sinns or anything like that. But definitely a dude who looks like he could possibly be in a triad. A guy who puts the “king” in short king.
I've always imagined him as Binder
Jack Black
