Just get a Mini 2 with an extra battery. Honestly though its not an easy hobby. Do your DD in getting your Trust Certificate (if in the US) and you'll also need to understand where you can/can't fly. A lot of places you may vacation are off limits for drones.

If you just want to have fun with it perhaps a fpv drone… Look into “tiny whoops” There are some fpv simulators like Liftoff and Velocidrone you could try. They’ll work with an Xbox or PlayStation controller, though ideally you’d use the same controller you’d fly with, perhaps one from Radiomaster with ELRS.

Congrats! Every day of the week, one person gets to ask this question yet again, and today YOU ARE THE ONE! This is posted at least daily and you can find the exact conversation over and over again, simply by scrolling or searching. That will get you hours of reading. The people with the most expertise often don't answer this because it's asked daily. I saved this as an auto-post since it's so common.

This, but to add right now costco has the Mini 3 on sale for $339, and that is by far the best deal as far as price to performance right now. No obstacle avoidance, but if you are really worried about it get an extra set or two of props and a prop guard and you should be fine
