Glad to see we've kept up the streak of still not playing a good team. I look forward to excuses that Mahomes ankle was hurt, Travis' back was still bothering him, or Andy had one too many burgers and was a bit sleepy for the game, so we can win a SB without ever playing a good team.
I like how all season these past few months we had to hear all about the 12 game win streak, #1 defense in NFL, 8-0 start with Brock Purdy 49ers and now they are all of a sudden a "bad team" because Eagles beat their backup QBs at the NFC Championship (That's right NFC Championship) game.
It's amazing how fast narratives change when a team loses but Mr. Irrelevant just reminded us why he's called that for this game. Props to their 1st half Defense though. That 2nd half was just bad and imploded at the worst possible time.
All that trash talking and look where they ended up.
49ers are genuinely the second best team in the nfc, the fact that they managed to succeed year after year to the level they do without ever really having an elite quarterback shows how stacked their roster is. It's crazy how as soon as they finally lose they treat the quarterback like it's a huge liability when the team had no problem succeeding most of the year without one anyway
>the fact that they managed to succeed year after year to the level they do without ever really having an elite quarterback shows how stacked their roster is.
Well you kind of answered it here. If you have an elite QB that's not on a rookie contract, it limits your ability to stack your roster elsewhere.
They've drafted really well in recent years, and that gives you the freedom to acquire key free agents. Some teams completely mortgage their future doing so, but if you can win at least 1 title with it, it'd still have been worth it.
We've been able to strike a nice balance of going all in, and keeping picks to ppssibly replenish losing talents.
haason reddick vs any te on san fran's roster... that's the meme.
also, kyle shanahan for going with that game plan.
[this is the winning formula!](https://imgur.com/CbwXJsT)
Instead of 2002 NFC Championship, maybe Shanahan should have shown his team the 2017 NFC Championship so he would know what happens when you block a DE with the TE.
Nah, Connor Barwin I was there. On Reddit no less with Evan Mathis in an AMA.
IIRC the description "sledgehammer" may have been used.

Well, I just think it’s funny that Andy and the Eagles were BOTH okay in the end. And the Kelce brothers, both locks for the hall of fame, finally get a reunion. What a strange and fascinating Super Bowl this will be. Life works in silly ways.
most of them seemed to be together there was a big procession through the jetro lot at like 1:20.
I did hear one guy say he saw a niners fan hit another niners fan with his car trying to turn around on Pattison
I was expecting more niners fans since they’re such a national franchise with cockroach fans all over the country. Was so happy to see barely a smattering of them throughout the stadium
That whole movie of all week was hilarious, you can go to the Linc on a cold rainy day against a crap opponent no one cares about in a year the Eagles are 2-8 and the place will still be packed, there was absolutely no way we were going to let other fans come in and push us around for an environment like this
I’m gonna use this thread to confess that I got pretty emotional after the smitty catch. That was one of the most amazing catches I’ve ever seen, especially on 4th down, to the point that I had to bite back some bitch-tears…. for about five minutes, until after the commercial break, when the replay showed it probably shouldn’t have counted, lol. Whatever; that’s on shanahan for not throwing the challenge flag!
I was watching GMF and they were saying that when Smitty popped up he was immediately signaling to snap the ball fast. How Shanahan saw that and didn't challenge is beyond me. That's 100% on him.
That catch was the loudest I got during the whole game. I thought it was an overthrow, maybe a ball that glances off fingertips.
I kept telling my wife "Eagles receivers don't make that play. That just doesn't happen for us, it happens against us".
Obviously it hit the ground, but the stat sheet will always say catch because of Devonta's effort. Just insane watching him and AJ work every week.
Santa Clara Niners fans now faced with the ultimate decision. Do they root for the team who beat them in the 2020 Super Bowl or the 2023 NFC Championship?
Trick question.
[They root for the Los Angeles Lakers.](https://imgflip.com/i/799940)
Wow. Kyle Shanahan showed 49ers the January 2023 NFC title game — when San Francisco went into Philadelphia and electrified Lincoln Financial Field with an emphatic road loss (Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson knocked out, team turned into an undisciplined mess).
John Lynch was on that San Francisco front office and pacing in Shanahan's office while watching
The goal posts move on us every time we win. Now we *really* haven’t played anyone and we’ve had the most fraudulent run to the Super Bowl in the history of the NFL, and Mahomes is our first real test. I mean shit, Molly on first take had the gall to ask “have the Eagles really been tested this season?” They’re still doubting we’re even a real team. We’ve beaten every single NFC playoff team that we’ve played (Cowboys (5 seed), Giants (3x - 7th seed), Vikings (3 seed), 49ers (2 seed)). We’ve literally beaten over half the NFC playoff field by ourselves, and we’d beat the Seahawks and Bucs easily.
For weeks I’ve been hearing that the 9ers were so good that any QB could win in that system. That they were by far the most dominant, physical defense. That they were so dominant and physical that they banged teams up. That we were gonna get manhandled by this suffocating run D. That their backup QB was better than Jalen Hurts and our defense is fraudulent and Deebo/CMC are gonna run all over us. Guess what, both of our lines bullied them right out of the building. Now there’s a fuckin narrative that Jalen Hurts had a terrible game. He had some questionable throws but he did exactly what we needed to do to win the game. They took their foot off the gas and started running the clock out in like the 3rd quarter. We put our BACKUPS IN in an NFC Championship game.
After last night, it was clear that they got put in their fuckin place. And when we started asserting ourselves, because we’re better, they got dirty and started literally punching our players. Soft ass team with some sore loser players. Wouldn’t have mattered who was in that backfield tonight, they were getting sacked, and we were gonna win. They lost 2 QB’s because we knocked them out. Bosa got hurt because we knocked him out. Warner got hurt because we knocked him out. **We beat them up.** End of story. Refs didn’t win that game for us, 9ers didn’t lose it for themselves. We took that shit. They came in as hot as hot can possibly be. No excuses. See y’all in Arizona.
I'm not really understanding the "you beat a team with no QB" narrative... I mean the Eagles defense was the REASON they had no QB. They utterly dominated them to the point that they needed to bring back in a one armed QB...
It's like me getting into a fight with someone, getting knocked out, and then telling them "You only beat me because I was knocked out."
Maybe not the right thread for this, but…
It cant be lost how DOMINANT our O and D lines were this game. We steamrolled them on both sides of the ball.
Watching Baldy’s Breakdowns this morning made me realize how most people arent seeing whats really happening out there, just focusing on the QB and skill guys.
They couldve had Purdy, Garrapolo, Lance, or McCaffrey at QB, but it wouldnt even matter. We won in the trenches.
Reason we beat Niners? Our OL is way better than their OL. Our OL protected the QB while the Niner's OL, not so much. Keep in mind, both Niner's QBs had no time in the pocket even before they got hurt. Shooting fish in a barrel for our DL.
never knew 49ers were such morons. but last night/shows them in a different light. they really thought they had a chance even with Purdy, which is the funny part
It'd be one thing if there was a dirty play or hit or whatever. It's another thing to put a scrub TE on who was been one of the best pass rushers all season and expect good results. They did it to themselves, no asterisk needed whatsoever.
If we win- they only won because mahomes was hurt
If they win- omg Patrick mahomes won a superbowl with a bad ankle he’s the best quarterback of all time 😍
I love all the comments about how we should feel bad for the 49ers for “losing” their quarterbacks. I’m not what to tell you if your game plan is to bet it all on backup tight ends blocking Hassan Reddick.
Wait it out. Stay loyal and get a green or white SB patch.
Which would you rather have in 5 years? Green/white you can always wear now and forever and have always like...or gray that you might not like one day?
Here we go again with the haters (Steven A Smith) and how our win against the 49ers wasn’t great because the qb got hurt. Now it’s Patrick Mahomes and how we never seen a quarterback like this all season and his greatness. I tell you no on wants to see us shine ✨
I love how people are bitching that San Francisco ran out of quarterbacks. Like maybe if you could block well, you wouldn’t have gotten both hurt????? What is so hard to understand?????

It’s the nfc…
My bad, fixed typo
Every team is great and so much better than us, right up until we blow them out, then they really weren't that good and it didn't really count.
Not a meme to be found, always lazy in rocky town.
A Cowboys and Lakers fan, you are meme enough already loser
Gotta be a Yankees or Astros fan for sure, maybe both, depending on who is winning that year

Love how everybody tried to apply the Big Dick Nick nickname to every schmuck in sports after Foles dad dicked the playoffs
“Big Dick Mitch” (Trubisky) might be the cringiest shit of all time
Probably the worst player to jack the nickname lmao

Lmao relax, buddy. It’s a game none of us are even playing. Go back to your own sub
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Your team is a fraud. "#1 defense" couldn't stop 31 points in the NFC championship game. What fucking losers, and sore losers to boot.
Keep waiting bitch cause it ain’t happening now fuck off and stop letting a team live rent free in your little head.
ok but they should still retroactively go back and apply it to Curtis Enis

I believe it was Jason Kelce who confirmed back in 2013 that he was packin, and it was the biggest on the team.

I tailgated yesterday. The absolute lack of Niners fans was actually shocking to me. There was no red anywhere, just the usual sea of green.

That was fun. So is Siposs back for the Super Bowl?
He better be. He never kicks into the Walmart skycam wires.
I believe you mean the Walmart+ 4K skycam?

It's simple. Just score every possession so we don't have to worry about punting.

I’m just glad this Super Bowl isn’t CBS or NBC. So tired of Romo and Collinsworth sucking off Mahomes
~~PLAYOFF LENNY~~ **PLAYOFF KENNY**
Eagles are about to be the first team to win a Super Bowl without “ever playing a good team “
I can see this becoming the “history” of this SB team if Mahomes is any less than 100%.

Will be a fun few weeks. Kelce Bowl, Andy Reid Bowl whatever you want to call it. Enjoy it.
uhhh can we be a meme super bowl team? because I would enjoy it
Fair Warning from KC: Y'all aren't ready for a Chiefs meme war.
I've yet to see chiefs memes is this a thing
I think going into SF, we seemed evenly matched with the advantage at QB going to Hurts. How we do feel that the Birds stack up with KC across the board?
Outside of QB and TE, we should have the advantage over them on paper. Oh and Pacheco is a beast too
SF seemed to do a good job shutting down our passing game. Do you see that happening against KC? Will this be another run heavy game?
I'd assume we go run heavy to start off to keep them KC the field. Plus Gainwell is somehow emerging. I'll be honest, I don't feel confident in Jalen if he gets into a shootout with Mahomes so I'm hoping we control it early and get after him on defense
I can second that. I don't mind playing a ball control game and we take our shots when we have to.
