But how can this be so? They haven't beaten anyone yet? /s I mean, they're QB is 17-1 this year, they crushed the division that sent 3 teams to to the divisional round of the playoffs, and made the Superbowl by a combined score of 69-14. I mean, clearly they're just skating by on an easy schedule... (again, :sarcasm: for those that need help).

LCLeopards

QB is only 16-1! Exposed!!!!! /s

Caleb_Krawdad

For now

boringreddituserid

Not only that, we were the 1 seed and between the season and playoffs, we beat the 2 seed, 3 seed, 5 seed, 6 seed (thrice). We also beat the top 3 teams that missed the playoffs. Edit to add: We also beat the AFC 4 seed and the top team that missed the playoffs. So 11 of our 16 wins this year came against playoff teams or the top teams that were on the bubble. Edit: due to multiple brain farts.

UnrealJoe

Idk where you get your info but we didn't beat Dallas twice nor did we play Miami.

boringreddituserid

Thanks, fixed it.

boringreddituserid

Exactly.

imLambz

We beat the 5th seed twice?

paranalyzed

Bold move to declare one of the teams in the Super Bowl as best team in the league.

[deleted]

agree but i think his angle is that no one else is admitting it, so might as well take the layup

meatboysawakening

Right?? What does that tell you about sports media/fans that this is somehow a bold take lmao

J3D1

They're high on their own supply

applevoo

Didn’t Brady play Mariota and bortles then lose to the birds ?

thegoseisloose

I think Jalen is referring to the fans when he said they didn't want him here, but it's an interesting take that it was Doug or Lurie. Over half of this sub was trying to get Howie fired for the pick though, so most likely the fans. Glad Jalen proved em wrong, the Wentz truthers were among the worst times on this sub

ho_merjpimpson

he should be referring to the fans. it was pretty obvious. but i dont think it really opened the floodgates or anything. and if it did, its really easy to just say, "hey... every fan base is going to have its debates. i have much love for the city and i think ive earned much love in return."

AndrewHainesArt

I think it was also the fans, but he's going to the SB in midnight green, I don't give a shit if he has a chip on his shoulder about that, hell I want him to, please prove everyone wrong that you think is doubting you

WeaponexT

I never hated hurts. None of this was a reflection on him. It was questioning Howie taking a qb in the 2nd a season removed from paying Carson. Now we know why he did but hard to blame a fan base for scratching their head at the time.

greenrider04

I accepted the pick since the McCown playoff game was still pretty fresh in the memory and having a competent backup QB would have helped us win that game. I was questioning if using a second round pick was the right move but the Superbowl win made it difficult for me to be too hard on Howie.

WeaponexT

Yeah I was similar I guess. I wasn't like fuck this pick or anything, just a bit confused on the path forward if that makes sense.

callmecyke

Yeah this. I didn’t hate Hurts, I was actually kind of excited to see what they’d do with a more mobile QB on set plays like how the Saints were playing. It was just a head scratcher to take a QB in the 2nd when we’d just paid Wentz and had a heap of needs to be addressed. In retrospect it was a genius move.

Nochtilus

That pick was suspect even though I was down for them getting some cheap and talented Wentz insurance. Thrilled Jalen proved them wrong and he can talk his trash. I only wish Wentz could have imploded before getting his extension. I am shocked it worked out as well as it did when look at it all. Any other team having their high priced franchise QB utterly collapse would have been in the dumpster for years trying to recover

thegoseisloose

Exactly, I am shocked we made it out of the Wentz contract as well as we did. We could just as easily be in the Saints position right now, but somehow (Howie) we are in the Super Bowl and have the Saints 1st rounder

VanceXentan

I mean at the end of the day there's no bad blood between us and jalen the first thing he did after winning the conference is thank the fans.

Mantis05

Jalen knew the score. When he got drafted, there was a presumptive franchise QB in place. He knew the fans wouldn't be behind him unless he gave them a reason, and boy did he.

Ghstfce

>and boy did he I couldn't be happier when he changed my ? to a !

willydachilly

Yeah when he hit us with that John 13:7 quote I was like jgnksrtgjklstjnkrnlgsjkrnjt IM SORRY JALEN - i dont even completely understand that verse but jkarngaljkerngjaerngekagkjl

[deleted]

It was 100% the fans. Howie compared him to russell wilson and said he didnt want to make the same mistake as before. The org was clearly high on the guy even doug Pederson seemingly was based on his draft reaction.

red-broom

Disclaimer: This is absolutely a conspiracy, but one that I personally think may be true. I believe. Jalens referring to Doug… which sort of sucks lol. It’s possible Doug, being the loyal guy he is, wanted to stick with wentz the entire time. The national media picked up on 1 incorrect take that said Doug wanted Hurts to start, and ran with it. Meanwhile Doug kept wentz in, even when he was playing horribly (remember… Doug is STUBBORN and rides for his guys). Back office (Lurie) wanted Doug to start Hurts at that point… they drafted him after all. Pederson refused and that’s why we had such a shit year until Hurts was forced in and Wentz benched. And that’s why Doug ended up mutually leaving the eagles, with Lurie and Doug splitting amicably as long as they don’t leak that true story. By Doug taking the Wentz fall (and not pointing fingers saying Lurie wanted to “force” Wentz out), he still looks good to the eagles and the league for his next job (nobody wants to hire a coach who points fingers). But if you think about it, a lot of what happened that year makes a lot more sense when you think about the series of events being a result of Doug actually wanting Wentz, not Hurts….

TotallyNotMasterLink

Nah, Jalen went up and thanked Doug during the Jacksonville game this year and was caught saying "you're the reason I'm here." Plus I remember ESPN having a shot of Doug fired up after the pick was announced during the draft. I think the most likely answer is he's referring to fans

red-broom

And that’s why it’s a conspiracy haha. I forgot about Jalen saying that to be honest

Akarious

Iirc Doug saw Hurts doing well on the practice squad so started personally coaching him up above and beyond the normal backup stuff

Rkovo84

He bet he’s referring to Doug. And maybe the fans. Definitely not the people who are there now. Eisen trying to create drama he has no beef with the Eagles

J-Mosc

Doug was jumping up and down smiling and literally hugging people when they got Hurts as their pick.

GeneralGalvatron

I will absolutely admit I was wrong. Didn’t hate the pick, but I thought he was a career backup. But, forgetting the football, I’m just so glad to have him as an Eagle. What a class act and what a grade A human being. I’ll be so happy for him when he gets his bag. Couldn’t happen to a better guy

[deleted]

But PAWWWWWL the eagles ain’t played nobody

vick2djax

Stephen Smith is literally in every sports news thumbnail and never in any of the videos

Akarious

It's because of the guys unofficially making the clips since the official yt channels only post a couple of clips. [Though this one was on yt](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DunRmxjSGtE) normally since the Rich Eisen show posts most of their stuff compared to Fox or ESPN shows

[deleted]

I wonder what the motive is behind these channels. They 100% have to get content id claimed so the ad rev def isnt going to them. I wonder if they just build up the subscriber counts of these channels then sell them. Even then tho seems like a lot of work for lil payoff

David_Duke_Nukem

Here's what I want to know: who the fuck do they want us to play? We beat the shit out of the Vikings already so who cares if the Giants beat them? The Niners didn't lose a QB on defense, and sure we got some short fields but we also won by 24, not barely scraped by. Prepare for the excuses when we beat the Chiefs as well. We won't get respect unless we beat a superteam of the best players from Buffalo, Cincinnati and KC.

yogi_br

>Here's what I want to know: who the fuck do they want us to play? The Chiefs, the Bills, the Bengals, prime Tom Brady in Foxboro, the 2005 AFC Pro Bowl team, the 2000s Ravens, the '85 Bears, the '72 Dolphins, LeBron's Heatles, prime Golden State, the Monstars, the Toon Squad, Goku, and God

necromantzer

The majority of the game our starting field position was not very good. 34,44,15,6,25, SF 30,17,9, SF 43, SF 31. One turnover let to great starting field position, but beyond that and the very end of the game, it was tough treading.

Mantis05

Yeah, and even if you take away the drive that got extended by the penalty on the kicker -- which is silly because even if it had been running instead of roughing, we would've had 4th and 1 and likely converted anyway, but regardless -- we still win that game 24-7. That's a plenty good enough ass-kicking considering the opponent.

spilled_water

The Eagles beat the #2, #3, #5, and #6 seeds of the NFC playoffs this year, as well as the #4 seed of the AFC playoffs. The Eagles are also 7-1 in the regular season against teams with a winning record, and 9-1 in the whole season against teams with a winning record.

Crims0nSean

People expect the Eagles to play double headers every weekend against a rotating schedule of the Bills/Chiefs/Bengals

hsl164

QB: Dan Marino 1984. RB: The Flash WR: rookie Randy Moss, early 90s Jerry Rice, LeBron with Desean Jackson’s legs. TE: 2011 Gronk and Aaron Hernandez OL: The Hulk, Hulk Hogan from the 80s, 2 Sumo Wrestlers and the original biblical Samson Defense: The 85 Bears except with Reggie White and Lawrence Taylor too. Beat anyone less and you’re a fraud

meatboysawakening

Yup! You can bet these people are relieved Mahomes had the ankle sprain, they've got a ready-made excuse for why the Eagles are frauds.

[deleted]

you're so right, haha

BDNjunior

we also scored bc of penalties and a non catch. We did not look good on offense. This delusional take is mind blowing to me

ph1aak

Disclaimer, I'm a big Eagles fan! I will probably get down voted into oblivion for this but I think the argument about the Eagles beating the Niners defense needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Their offense could barely stay on the field which means their defense was more than likely exhausted. I'm excited for the win but also curious how that game looks if both teams are firing offensively.

timasahh

What a weird take at the end about Jalen’s comments about people not wanting him drafted here. He’s clearly talking about the negative fan and media reactions to using a second round pick on a backup QB when most people at the time thought we should be getting a skills player to help Wentz. Even until this year Hurts wasn’t respected as the guy. After what he went through in college of course that puts a competitive chip on someone’s shoulder. To tie that into his benching in 2020 like there’s some kind of controversy or rift between him and upper management is such a clown take. Literally only the media cares about that 2020 game. It was a fucking meaningless fourth quarter in a dead season and Doug gave the backup QB some live reps. That’s the whole story lmao. If the Giants weren’t desperate for us to win so they could sneak into the playoffs at 6-10 no one would even remember that game. People also forget how meaningful of an evaluation period that was. Showed us immediately that if we traded Wentz to go with Hurts, our backup QB was not currently on the roster. Note that we didn’t resign Chase that offseason. So weird to see this start off by clowning on troll takes then introduce a troll ass fucking take lol.

Puzzleheaded-Lead126

Eagles fans really were were brutal to him when he was drafted.

[deleted]

Brutal up until this season. People acted like he was supposed to drag guys like reagor, ward, and jjaw to a superbowl 💀💀

RepresentativeAir735

You know who else had a soft schedule? The 85 Bears beat up on a terrible division. Guess what, the 85 Bears are one of the greatest teams ever assembled. Just like the 22 Birds.

Akarious

[Rich Eisen show](https://www.youtube.com/@RichEisenShow) is one of the better talk shows that keep things level-headed.

bigmac9

I think only Mahomes and Travis are better at their positions. The rest, the Eagles are far better. We better not let two players beat us.

Coach_Carter_on_DVD

They probably have us beat at punter too

drudski420

I saw a clip of Eisen saying on his podcast before the season that he felt that Hurts wasn’t getting the kind of recognition of being a QB poised to make a huge leap this year. Which Eisen believed Hurts would.

Dankofamericaaa2

Rich always has great takes. He’s never into the media criticism and keeps it real

deadnside

Cool but who the fuck cares who says who is best. The tams are literally gonna play each other to find out.

crack-a-lacking

Just last week he picked us to lose
