Heās mocked in the 5th lol undersized and the tape isnāt all there, if you get him you get him for what his dad did in the black and green. Not really for him.
Yup if he falls to the 6th, get him there. I'd want Cedric Gray who was a top 30 visit first, but he could be gone by the time philly picks today. He was a projected #75 pick by analyst Daniel Trotter, and Howie quoted DTs board yesterday when justifying the Jalyx pick (who was #64 on DTs board).
So you can really see DeJean having more upside than Edgerrin? I like DeJawnās versatility, not only in the secondary but, also as a special teams guy. But Edgeās talent at the linebacking position wouldāve been a huge boost to our corps
The only reason they are considered close pickwise is because there is so little LB talent and so much CB talent in this draft. Talentwise, Dejean is clearly better.
Eli Ricks and Ringo would be next up, not factoring what both Mitchell and DeJawn showcase on the field in the next seasons.
Again, iām not saying itās a terrible or even bad pick at all. My point is, we covered the CB position in the first round, why not address LB with the best LB in the draft that lands in your lap? Wouldnāt have hurt.
If Bradberry or Slay were to get injured during the season, donāt be surprised to see DeJean out there before Mitchell. I think DeJeanās overall innate ball skills put him above Mitchell right now. This is without training camp.
Once preseason rolls on weāll see who falls where. I donāt expect either picks to start but, DeJean could see PT before Mitchell
Has to be Slay and Mitchell or Rodgers that start, surely? We have to see what Rodgers has in camp obviously, he might absolutely suck and we cut him. Unlikely, but possible. Ringo flashed towards the end of the season in a *bad* period for the team, and there's definitely more to come from him. The odd men out for me are Maddox, Ricks and Bradberry. For me DeJean and CJGJ move around between safety and nickel to create confusion for QB's. Perhaps not immediately, but once things are in a rhythm with the Fangio scheme, this seems likely.
Look what the Fangio scheme revolves around: 2-high safeties disguising looks. Reed wasn't going to get it done, so we needed to solidify safety. Howie couldn't take Dejean at 22 bc freak-athlete quinyon was the #1 cb in the board and definitely not dropping to the 2nd, while DeJean did bc of recent injury concerns and there was a drunken craze for offensive players like we've never seen before. I believe Fangios plan was to take DeJean all along at 22 but Quinyon AND Arnold were both still there which nobody expected. So we got the best draft talent at CB AND S, both cornerstones in Fangio scheme. It was a dream come true scenario for our defense. LBs are important, but they aren't the true chess pieces in the scheme, it's two safeties and then good zone shutdown corners. If you asked Vic, having to only address LB now is a best case scenario going into Day 3. I'm still in shock at how awesome this is playing out.
Yes because both of these guys could slide into the one and two cb spots plus you have depth and potential with Ringo, Rodgers, Ricks, Jobe and McPherson.
CB is a much more important position than LB, and Slay, Bradberry, CJGJ, Rogers, and Maddox are all gone after this year. They went BPA for the long term health of the team
Itās how will we feel when weāre locking down top receivers and giving up first downs on 3rd & 15 to running plays directly at our mlb. Jaylan ford fits perfectly into what weāre setting up
Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman are inarguably one of the top owner/gm tandems in the league. A brilliant combination of vision and action, they consistently field competitive teams that feed the fanaticism of their fan base. Like, how can you not feel romantic about eagles football after the contracts they just ikned and the addition of these prospects?
Itās really crazy to be following this team since childhood and see these 2 develop into the current versions, weāre an insanely lucky fanbase when you consider all 3 division rivals have some sort of crazy dumbass calling the shots that keep them mediocre
This is Howie zigging when everyone else is zagging. Offense is top five on paper and they just sped up the defensive rebuild with youth and players that can impact the team immediately. Itās what we as fans have been asking for and itās happened. With Fangioās knowledge this defense will be a disciplined, competitive unit.
Feels incredible. Howie gets shit done some how some way he always gets it done. It couldn't have gone better imho. This was our biggest area of need and we got 2 of the top corners in the draft. No project players and both ready to fucking go.
DeJean and CJGJ will switch around between safety and the slot, can't see Maddox having the production or the sustainability now if he even makes the team. Sydney Brown will probably be used as a chess piece like this too, once he's healthy.
Do yāall think weāre taking Trotter Jr LB in the 3rd then? Iām still hesitant on the guy despite his dad being an Eagles legend, but itās a position of need.
Is he good enough to go in 3rd? Would he be the best LB available at that point? I donāt want the eagles to take a guy just because of his name. Iām not super familiar with college players beyond the top crop of guys.
Dude played good in NY and he played good on a prove it contract with us. As soon as he got the big contract, dude fell off a cliff. Heās a bum, not gonna be a bounce back year.
He was already playing above his athleticism and now heās old. Heās slow and not able to keep up any more. Hope he bounces back but itās doubtful at best and his dead cap hit is crazy.
Man itās got to be an incredible feeling for any of these young players getting drafted to the NFL..but what a feeling to get drafted into our atmosphereā¦with Jalen, AJ, Saquon, Devonta locked up. Killer/legendary o-lineā¦legendary D coach and a bunch of young defensive players.
I was legit just thinking this earlier. If I walked in to the first meeting as a rookie at OTAās and seen all these dudes in there, I would be too shook to even pay attention.
I would've loved Edgerrin for possibly less capital, but if we can take a LB still then I'm happy. I worry about the box especially if we're putting DeJean at Safety
However Edgerrin isn't really a "coverage" guy so this helps nonetheless. Hard to see how DeJean OR Mitchell aren't a stud in a volatile position. Youth defense is a necessary long term plan with our capital allocated to offense
Right now feel really good. LB's are currently falling and we will could still get a starter in Rd3 and Beebe is falling currently, but I also feel like they really like Tyler Steen
I guess they can take the risk now with his injury history and him falling. Wilson doesnāt have an ACL in one knee now and both of his shoulders have been dislocated. Even drafting Trotter Jr. would be a good pick now in the fourth round.
I think we have so many better options this year. Even if not in a slot, he can make an impact on ST and be a perfect rotational player until he earns a starting job.
I would have been happy if we traded up into the mid teens for Quinton Mitchell, and I was okay with the fact that doing that would mean we miss out on Dejean.
This has basically been my dream scenario so far.
Great actually. I know a lot of people want a LB. But when a talent of Cooper DeJeanās caliber falls into your lap, you fucking pounce on that. The edge rusher also seemed to catch Fangioās eye, so you just need to trust him.
Hopefully we can nab Cedric Gray in the fourth. Maybe Trotter Jr as well.
Name two CB drafted in the same year by the same team in RDS 1 and 2 that BOTH became pro bowlers? Facts say at least one of them will be a bust. It's reality.
Well no shit. I just stated the obvious. Odds are, one will be a bust. The hero worshipping teenagers on this sub can downvote but that doesn't change the facts.
Youāre not wrong, youāre just getting downvoted because thereās no need to make that point. No one was saying theyāre both guaranteed pro bowlers. Doesnāt mean we canāt be happy that we got them both.
"No one is saying they're both guaranteed pro bowlers." - Actually, what OP posted was...."A weakness becoming a strength", "A weight lifted off our shoulders". That sures sounds to me like guaranteed pro bowlers. I'm simply stating the obvious, the problem isn't solved. Odds are one or both are busts.
Would really love a LB or OL in round 3 but hard to complain about getting both Mitchell AND DeJean.
I get the feeling we'll be running a lot of nickel and dime packages.
Trott Jr in round 3 š
This place will die if we get Axeman Jr.
Please!
Nah, OT or Edge in the 3rd. See if Trotter falls to the 5th.
Thatās what happened to me good call
Go LB in the 4th, they have Stout who has done wonders with linemen from the 5th round on
Hell of a call man
I think heās worth about a fifth so Iām happy lol thanks for the shoutout
no way hes a 5th. bias aside he was a game disrupter
Heās mocked in the 5th lol undersized and the tape isnāt all there, if you get him you get him for what his dad did in the black and green. Not really for him.
Yeah he's not the same dude his dad was. Lighter in the pants. If he's there, I won't be adverse to taking him but not banging the table for him.
Heās actually a 6th
Yup if he falls to the 6th, get him there. I'd want Cedric Gray who was a top 30 visit first, but he could be gone by the time philly picks today. He was a projected #75 pick by analyst Daniel Trotter, and Howie quoted DTs board yesterday when justifying the Jalyx pick (who was #64 on DTs board).
This would be the appropriate pick for him. Let him develop while our suddenly stud secondary collects interceptions.
The vibes alone will get us to 13 wins
5!
Only time will tell. A LB rd 3 and OL rd 4.
I love this pick, but with Edgerrin still available when the pick was made how do we *really* feel?
I'd take dejean
Are you serious?
šā¦ yes, I am. With Mitchell already selected in the first round, was CB really a needed pick in the 2nd? Why not address the LB position?
Talent difference
So you can really see DeJean having more upside than Edgerrin? I like DeJawnās versatility, not only in the secondary but, also as a special teams guy. But Edgeās talent at the linebacking position wouldāve been a huge boost to our corps
I really like our current guys in Dean and Smith tbh
I canāt disagree bro fr. It was just interesting to me to see Edge still available when the pick was made. Fly Eagles, Fly š¦
White too
I also like Shaun Bradley coming back
Talent difference? I thought both guys were around the same late 1st early 2nd talent level?
The only reason they are considered close pickwise is because there is so little LB talent and so much CB talent in this draft. Talentwise, Dejean is clearly better.
Bradberry and Slay both end of careers
Eli Ricks and Ringo would be next up, not factoring what both Mitchell and DeJawn showcase on the field in the next seasons. Again, iām not saying itās a terrible or even bad pick at all. My point is, we covered the CB position in the first round, why not address LB with the best LB in the draft that lands in your lap? Wouldnāt have hurt.
I think Dejean is a safety hybrid more than outside CB and Ricks/Ringo havenāt shown enough to peg them into future consideration at all honestly.

Still amazing actually. Iāll take Cooper DeJean over Edgerrin Cooper in the second any day.
Itās how will we feel when weāre locking down top receivers and giving up first downs on 3rd & 15 to running plays directly at our mlb. Jaylan ford fits perfectly into what weāre setting up
Beebe Zinter P.wilson Isaac
How do you pronounce his last name lol
De-Jawn
This is Philly. We have white DBs and Black QBs. And Iām loving this era of Eagles football. Letās go.
Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman are inarguably one of the top owner/gm tandems in the league. A brilliant combination of vision and action, they consistently field competitive teams that feed the fanaticism of their fan base. 1-6 end of last season sucked.
Especially how the season ended. Iām excited more than ever for this upcoming season. Howie had been doing his thing nonstop. š

I feel like dejean will play safety
I could definitely see him in that role as well. He's a weapon so nothing would surprise me.
Two starting white safeties and a black quarterback? We just need CMAC to be on the Eagles.
He'll play slot when Avonte goes down in week 4
Bold of you to think Maddox will last that long
CJGJ has missed nearly just as many games as Maddox over the last 2 years
Dime package chess piece
DeJean and CJGJ will switch around between safety and the slot, can't see Maddox having the production or the sustainability now if he even makes the team. Sydney Brown will probably be used as a chess piece like this too, once he's healthy.
That's what I said...him and reed are basically the same size.
Heād be a bit of a stretch at 78, but wonāt be there in the 4th. Wouldnāt be terrible, IMO
Most of the draft gurus have him as the 3rd or 4th LB. I'd say he's worth a 3rd.
Heās been sliding on peoples boards which worries me in the first place but Iād take him in the 3rd if thereās no better LB or OT out there tbh.
Payton Wilson š¤
Cedric Gray is still out there I believe.
Wilson is the dude at this point if he makes it there, a guy who looks like he can matchup with TEs
I need a photoshop of DeJean in birds gear for my wallpaper.
Reddit do your thing!
I need a Cooper DeJawn wallpaper, shirt and hat š
Howie is buttering us up with these first two picks knowing heās not really gonna address the LB room that much
I'd love to see us with a reliable smart LB but if theres no obvious pick, rather they go DB, and maybe address LB at trade deadline if need be.
This was the dream. As soon as we got Mitchell at 22, I was hoping on Howie trading up for Dejean.
Did you wish upon a star? Your wish came true!
Maybe someone who needs a CB will trade us a 3rd rounder for Bradberry now.
Howies good but heās not that good
He fell off a cliff and is expensive. Him and a 7th for a 6th is probably more accurate
He fell off a cliff in NY and we signed him in the off season. He could have a bounce back year under Fangio.

Contrasted to Kool Aid being taken with the next pick and not looking happy at all.
We are the envy of falcons fans
I would've loved Edgerrin for possibly less capital, but if we can take a LB still then I'm happy. Howie proving again why heās the best GM in the league

I love it Now go after LB or OL in round 3 if we can
Feeling great. Do you think Cooper slides into the slot?
I think we have so many better options this year. Even if not in a slot, he can make an impact on ST and be a perfect rotational player until he earns a starting job.
I think he plays all over the field. This is what Malcom Jenkins was coming out, CB that played S.
Both came in for top 30s. Pay attention again next year
Slot corner depth, safety depth and possible outside corner in a couple years. I bet he plays all over the field next year.
I've been overseas, did we win?
Win we did
I would have been happy if we traded up into the mid teens for Quinton Mitchell, and I was okay with the fact that doing that would mean we miss out on Dejean. This has basically been my dream scenario so far.
I still don't know how Howie did it!
Love this pic
Anyone who doubted Howie Roseman owes him a formal apology
Feeling kinda sorry for Isaiah Rodgers honestly. Gonna be plenty of competition in that CB room though
I feel like he might beat out Maddox and Bradbury
I called us trading up for Coop but never imagined Mitchell would be there in the 1st, the rest of the league is ran by fools
Lito and Sheldon!
Would love to pick up a LB and a OL but Iām feeling FLY EAGLES FLY BABY
Is that not freaking Charlie woods???
Odds are at least one will be a bust. We'll see in a few years.
Or.... potential pro bowlers. I'm going to stay positive until I have a reason to bury my head in the sand.
Name two CB drafted in the same year by the same team in RDS 1 and 2 that BOTH became pro bowlers? Facts say at least one of them will be a bust. It's reality.
Ok? That pertains to any pair of first and second round picks, lol. Getting 1 reliable starter at a position of need is a win.
Well no shit. I just stated the obvious. Odds are, one will be a bust. The hero worshipping teenagers on this sub can downvote but that doesn't change the facts.
