Nice. A lot of dead money over the next few years but with the cap increase the impact is hopefully lessened

FairweatherWho

The best GMs realize how to make the cap fake. The only way it can come back to bite you is if for some reason the NFL stops growing, which even with Covid didn't really stop it for long.

Psychart5150

Cap isn’t fake and it isn’t just a GM thing. It’s primarily an owner thing. The owner has to be willing to front the cash for you to do this. Also it bites you in other ways. For example, Bradbury. You lost out on a player you could sign bc of the way his contract was structured and that he was bad year one of it

OJ_Blimpson

Am i the only one not ready to completely bury Bradberry? A ham sandwich trade? Im willing to give the dude another year under a new DC to see if there is anything left in the tank. Probably not, but seems more worth it to me than saving a measly 1 mill.

rsmseries

You’re not the only one.  It may be just us two though.

OJ_Blimpson

Just a couple bros cultivating the bradberry patch.

trustthepudding

I'm fine with keeping him, but who would you cut instead? We have a lot of young DB talent.

FairweatherWho

I feel like Ringo and Ricks get way too much praise tbh. They aren't bad, but I think because of how bad we've seen our DBs be this millennium, we think they are better than they are.

Neither-Astronaut-80

Ringo was a 4th rounder just last year and is only 21 years old with a lot of potential, no way we are getting rid of him to keep an aging Bradbury when we have so much promising talent already.

trustthepudding

I think they are young, developing DBs who we haven't seen much of and haven't asked much of so it's really up to what the coaching staff thinks (and they seem to like them).

Shoobiedoobiedood

I'm here too... If they call that obvious face mask call on Jalen in Superbowl it might be 21-0 instead 14-7 ain't all brad but he was cheeks last year

gdgarcia424

3 of us!

johyongil

Make me 3.

Emergency-Set-3799

I’m with you guys, send him to Carolina

Lockhead216

I’m 100% on board with him staying. It’s June first and he’s still here. He can play inside and out. Type of player that has up then down years.

a_toadstool

His down year was being one of the worst in the league lol

Lockhead216

Which defensive player had a career high year?

so_zetta_byte

The thing is that he's kinda always been volatile, on a year to year basis not a week to week basis. He played really good, then he was out bad with the Giants and that's why we were able to get him cheap. He was great with us, and then terrible. The fact that it's a year to year thing is either motivation (contract year stuff) or sensitivity to scheme/environment. And with the scheme and environment changing, it's totally possible he comes back to form. He's pretty young so I really don't think he's physically washed. So I'm with you that it's totally possible he bounces back fine. Like if he plays well next year I won't be surprised. I don't expect it, but it's within the range of reasonable possibilities. I'm not necessarily with you on wanting to keep him though. We have a lot of young secondary talent and decent choices for starters. Basically, I think I'd rather try and continue to develop out depth than use a spot hoping that Bradbury returns to form. I don't think at this point we want to rely on spiking variance in our secondary, I want to start to develop consistency with that position group. The flipside is the cap hit for getting rid of him is real and that's cap money that will be very very helpful trying to roll over into next year. From that perspective, keeping him on one more year is better for us next year. Plus if he does play well he might have higher interest from other teams. And that all makes me pretty conflicted.

El_Khunt

My problem with him playing means other younger, more promising corners won't. They'd have to burn a roster spot and if he's still a fuckin bum then its a total waste. I don't seriously see how you could argue going into the season with Bradberry when Ricks, McPherson, Hall, and even Jobe are all there ranging from better to maybe barely worse. The only guy I see taking Bradberry over is Maddox, and I disagree with even that.

OJ_Blimpson

Because 2 years ago he was lockdown. A new DC and he turns into complete trash? Roll the dice for 1 more year to see if he picks up the scheme and can teach the otherwise incredibly young secondary. I won't be shocked if he's cut or traded, but I definitely think it's worth seeing if he has the drive for a comeback season.

PharoahFits

One thing I will say about Bradberry is the season before he came to Philly he was ass on the Giants. They released him and he balled here. I'm not 100% for getting rid of him but he'd have to be ok getting way less snaps

Lockhead216

This is where I’m at. Maybe trade deadline he’s playing well but we have other cbs biting at his heels. Can maybe fill a deadline need?

PharoahFits

Absolutely. An AFC contender loses their CB2 or CB3 and suddenly you get a 4th rounder for him

yubie-

Bradberry might be Howie’s biggest trade chip come November

tiggs

I personally want him cut, but could get on board with this if he didn't just miss voluntary team activities. I'm sorry, but after the year you just had, his ass should have been the first person in the door at rookie mini camp, the first person in the door at OTAs, and essentially at the complex every single day trying to earn his spot. Hosting charity events is great, but he's not in a position to skip any team activities at all just because he had a charity events scheduled for the same week. IMO, he deserves to be cut just for that.

yallsomenerds

There’s no reason to move him before training camp at earliest…see if an injury to potential contender forces someone’s hand. Could also bounce back under Fangio and we’d have good depth.

Psychart5150

The problem with that is who do you cut? Slay, Mitchell, DeJean, Ringo are guaranteed. Usually we keep 6, but let’s say we keep 7. Bradbury, Maddox, Rodgers, Mcphearson, Jobe, Ricks Unless he is 2022 Bradbury I’m done with him.

Vladimir_Putting

The way he played last season it makes no sense to give him a roster spot. That spot can go to someone who at least has potential. We have a LOT of corners. We should only be keeping the best ones.

OJ_Blimpson

Yea, nobody will "give" him a roster spot - he's going to have to earn it. I just think he might still have the ability to flip the script from last season. He probably won"t, but there's a chance.

Psychart5150

Between Cox, Kelce, and eventual release of Bradbury we have about 55 mil dead cap (not including dead cap we rolled over from last year). Current cap space is going to to be used primarily on that and possibly depth at 1-2 spots

wishlish

I do wonder if they’ll eventually trade for a 3rd WR.

Nievsy

Eh I would rather just see what the two young guys bring at this point

Josiah-White

They've already brought in several people

Fr3eHat

And one retired even lol

Josiah-White

So they brought in another body

Spare-Half796

There’s like 7 guys competing for wr3

wishlish

If there are 7 guys competing for WR3, that probably means the eventual WR3 isn’t on the roster. We’ll see. I’d love to be wrong.

nope-nope-nope-nop

Plot twist, Jason Kelce comes back as WR3

Planetofthetakes

Hahaha. Welp, why do you think he lost all that weight?

Spare-Half796

That’s the only position I wouldn’t want him to come back as, he only has 9 fingers

PharoahFits

A lot of the feedback out of OTA is that Pariss Campbell looks good. When you hate 2 elite guys like AJ and Devonta, it's much easier to get open if you're a solid route runner with good hands

Burt_Rhinestone

Where’s Jason Avant? I could go for some 3rd and Avant again. God, he would be THE perfect complement to Smitty and AJ.

Skibibbles

The WR3 is here already

LittleGeologist1899

I think line backer or even d line might be at play for a trade believe it or not.
