Not a niche I'm interested in, but I'm glad to the market expand generally.
I wish they'd quit using weird tire sizes. 22" for the radwagon. 18" for the trike. Just go 20" ffs and make everyone's life easier.
Trivel E-Azteka. Has gears too, which is a huge bonus to get better range.
My wife has a Huffy trike that I converted for her, but the single gear makes it hard for her to move without using power, which kills her battery quickly. Was waiting for Rad to offer something, but $2500 USD is almost $3500 CAD, which I am sure they will increase to at least $3700 CAD. Too high, imo.
Another weird thing about this trike: single speed.
It's designed to be pedaled along side a walking companion at 2.7mph / 4.3kph. It also has a top speed of 14mph / 22.5kph.
That's a 5:1 cadence ratio. The lack of gearing seems to be a real oversight.
Then again, I am not a trike intender.
edit: man, I can't type today.
Are e-trikes a popular category? I honestly thought this was a joke post at first.
I’ve definitely seen trike motorcycles, but when it comes to bikes, the closest I’ve ever seen on the bike trails are recumbents.
Does anyone ride something similar?
I really can't see them selling too many of these beyond tourist spots near the beach or something. I think they kept advertising this as their most requested bike ever so that people wouldn't be so closed minded when they saw it was a trike. I think the only people I see riding trikes are pedicabs by the harbor here in San Diego.
Also for people who are differently abled or just generally have limited mobility for one reason or another. I'm really glad to see Rad expanding the market like this
The only trike... no ebike company I know of that provides torque plates on both sides of a steel fork. Some huge upgrade/mod possibilities there. They didn't have to do that for a 14mph PEV but they did it anyway. Kudos for that feature.
There are tens of millions of Americans who haven't ridden a bike since childhood and aren't confident in their abilities on a two-wheeler for one reason or another. This is one more option to get them out of a car.
I gather from Court's video that it's take-apartable with four bolts, but not *foldable* along that joint. You *can* fold the handlebars down.
(edited because words me no good write)
Good video, Court gave me confidence in getting the RR+. I do now see the joint is primarily to facilitate shipping direct to consumer, but could be a way of stowing in a vehicle etc.

They dropped the ball. They should have heard their consumer voices and skipped the proprietary size and gone 20
I think they putpriced it too. The Costco trike looks to be a bit better value, and can be had frequently for under 2K CAD.
Costco bike?
which one exactly?

Bike or trike?
Ugh, trike. Freaking auto correct.
FFS is a phrased that is not used nearly enough IMO.

That’s why it’s intriguing, the existing market is small but this may help convert people to micro mobility
People who have balance issues prefer trikes to bikes, for example.
I’m thinking this will be popular for many who want to tote around kiddos and cargo
Cool but they’re going to take up the whole bike lane

Millions of baby-boomers now reaching retirement age might disagree with you. Rad probably foresaw this when they designed the RadTrike.

They had too.. they have a lot of money to be sued for.

Brilliant. Will sell well. Great idea
Is it foldable? Look behind the crankset, looks like a joint/flange you typically see with foldables.

Its name is an oxymoron.
I disagree, but that’s kinda funny.
This seems well thought out. [What could possibly go wrong when a bunch of Olds get on board?](https://youtu.be/QQh56geU0X8)
So many weird things about this.
