"seems recorded" based on what? If you can't hear it in any player you've tried and the waveform is 0 in anything that shows a waveform, they forgot to turn the mic on

is there a chance there are external audio files somewhere / wav files that the client forgot to send that you’ll be expected to sync up with the video? A more hilarious possibility would be the YouTube client forgot to turn their mic on. With today’s climate of insane notes I wouldn’t be surprised to get one that says “hey we forgot to record audio for all our files, can you just work some magic in your edit and have it back by 4pm? Thanks!”

[Grab shutter encoder, and try the following:](https://www.shutterencoder.com/en/) First off try the 'rewrap' function to .mp4. In the right where it says 'Audio settings' check 'Convert' and set to 'AAC.' If that doesn't work it probably means that there is no audio or it's silent, but to confirm also try the 'extract' function which will pull the audio out of the file so you can check it out by itself.

It looks like you're asking for technical help. Great. ##Here's what *must* be in the post. (Be warned, that your post *may* get removed if you don't fill this out) Please edit your post (not reply) to include: * System specs: CPU (model), GPU + RAM. Don't know? [Speccy](https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy) * Software specs: The exact version. Never "the latest" * Footage specs: Codec, container and how it was acquired. [Mediainfo](https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo) And if it's resolved, change the flair to SOLVED so future people can learn from this. Thanks - Automod posting on behalf of the Mod team & the community. ------------ 1- System specs * CPU (model): * GPU + GPU RAM: 2- Editing Software * Software +**plus version** 3- Footage specs * Codec (h264? I guess you have already verified that there is no audio track when you load the file in VLC media player and press **Ctrl+J**. There should be both a "Stream 0" and a "Stream 1" - each with a specified codec type. You can't trust Premiere's analysis, because Adobe's software only recognizes a small amount of media types. VLC or MediaInfo are much better at this. If Stream 1 is missing, then your client simply forgot to record sound. Sometimes this is intentional - but if most of the clips have sound, then it was probably a mistake. But of course there is no fix, if there is nothing that can be fixed. ;)
