That is actually for barehand you can by the cover on the furthest part of the boom. It keeps the fiberglass clean when not in use. You bond the basket to the line so your pretty much a bird on the wire. It allows work on transmission lines while they are energized
[Yeah it doesn't have an actual bucket like a normal truck.](https://www.altec.com/products/aerials/non-overcenter/a72t/)
But this one still has the insulated boom for high voltage work. Just a larger platform for more than 1 worker at a time.
I rented a 120’ one from hertz a bunch of years ago, my kids thought they wanted a ride.
We did not get very far till they wanted down!
I’ve been 180 in a crane basket and did not care for it.
I got invited to a safety event at a big utility and they were offering rides in their biggest bucket trucks, like just for fun, similar to this. I did not partake.
I struggle with heights just in scissor lifts and I'm man enough to admit it

I mean it’s a lot less of a bucket truck and a lot more of a bucket tank
It's for when you need to do some high voltage work in Poland in a few hours.
Why won’t ze power VERK
That's far too intelligible and nowhere near squiggly enough to be Polish.

And looks more like a basket than a bucket. Basket tank.
Used for steep high voltage passes in the mts
brb gotta change some lights on the space station
Honestly had to stare at this for a few seconds because I thought it was a boat with a cherry picker.
I had the same reaction.
Is that what Americans call them? In the uk we call them MEWP’s cherry pickers.
Bucket trucks/cherry pickers in the states as well. That is like a basket truck though

Yea it's mint. I'm changing 40' pole heads all week. The double heads are 6' long lol. Need two people, and bee spray. Using a boom lift though
In Denmark we call them boom lifts.
What’s that thing go like 200 ft, dang!
156' according to the spec sheet. Plus it can do 20' under grade.
That’s fucking sweet, put me in, coach!

Zoom boom truck 😆
"LIFTING UP, UP, UP IN A BUCKET TRUCK! CLIMBING HIGH, HIGH, HIGH IN THE SKYYYYY!"
I long for that stability. I also long for a boom lift without a laundry list of reasons why it needs to be retired.

The bucket truck she tells you not to worry about.
Elliot makes a truck mounted 210’
