Not usually a drum and bass guy but after seeing chase and status' boiler room a couple months ago my mind was opened. Definitely gonna check this out, appreciate it big man ✊
I saw her set and then a festival was announced in the UK with her and aphex twin. I flew from the West Coast of the US to London just to see those two.
Damn, that's some dedication right there. Only ever heard of aphex twin when he was mentioned as a possible headliner for EP festival in Ireland but I see that he's been in the business for a long time. Would love to go abroad to some of the bigger name festivals or venues but for the most part my friends wouldn't be into that kind of thing, so would be difficult to arrange. Out of curiosity, what's the techno scene like in the Shtates? My knowledge is limited to some names like floorplan, green velvet etc. Would heavy/hard techno be niche or a more popular thing?
Aphex is a trip man lol. He has a lot of different styles. More atmospheric, some are chaos, some songs are just straight bops. It all depends lol
As far as techno in the states. Not really a thing. Not like Berlin techno definitely. But Detroit is the birthplace of techno so there's a small scene there but that's about it afaik. The states mostly like bass music more than anything. So brostep, dnb, tech house is growing more out here, some trance elements and sneaking in lately, psytrance, neurobass, etc.
Very big bombastic heavy handed bass heavy music is the main focus over here. Our "races" are mostly large outdoor festivals that charge many hundreds of dollars to attend and often times are over 2+ days and super commercialized. It's honestly a very soulless "frat boy" type scene imo. Most of the artists just copy each other 1:1 so you can't tell the difference from dj shit tip vs DJ my peepee hurts. At every juncture of the scene over here it feels like people wanting to get as much money as they can while acting like they care about people dancing/having a good time. Any discussion about music as art or building a community is ignored in favor of figuring out how to get the next chart topping hit to headline the next big festival that charges $900 to see 3 days full of artists, most of which you've never heard of and 80% of which sound absolutely identical.
We do still have some good artists that do care about their art and building community but they're rare. Acts like machinedrum, lorn, venetian snares, Skrillex surprisingly, max cooper, baths, Kaitlyn Aurelia smith (tho she's Canadian), flying lotus, Nicolas jaar, kelela, clams casino, mono/poly, nosaj thing, and pretty lights to name a few.
Check out the sets from our compilation RAVE THERAPY launch party. This is heavy breakbeat and electropunk stuff. If you like this kind of energy you can listen to our podcasts on SC

A music maker man with a set of double barrel first names like Ray and Keith, I'd be surprised if he wasn't good. Will definitely check it out boss, cheers
This right here is the first suggestion here I've actually heard of but a great shout regardless, my friends got to see him live at Electric Picnic last September and they said it was fucking savage, was so jealous I couldnt go
Had a quick scroll through, groovy mix bro I can see myself two stepping whiteboy style to this on a summer's afternoon at a festival even though it's not the usual tempo of music I'd listen to.
From my extensive expertise on the topic, I would describe it as similar to slightly to fast CPR, as opposed to yours being what I can recall a good rhythm. I hope that somehow makes sense, I just annihilated a zoot so it may be complete fuckin nonsense

What about this meets any of his criteria?
Maybe reread his post.
I like Lee Burridge but this is not energetic, by “slow and groovy” he didn’t mean deep house
That's not for you to decide
jeez "Open to any suggestions"
Deep house is great but not energetic. He’s not asking for “give me literally any mix”
Try r/mixes
Thanks mate, will do
Not a good suggestion. The top post of the year has 9 upvotes. It’s mostly just people spamming their own mixes
