I'm often using the BQ24074 as it also allows pseudo-MPPT for solar charging and load sharing to preserve battery lifetime. Other Asian chips worth having a look: TP5000 and TP5100.

Yes the TI IC is loaded with features but will add a spike to the BOM. I like the TP5100 more mainly because it can support both NMC and LiFePo4 cells and hence i can reuse the design easily.

I have been using the TP4056 so far. Saw some benchmarks when it comes to sleep power draw. Seems to be a quite good component.
