We've all worked with the grandma of EMS, right? Her knees aren't original and she might not have the best skill practice anymore but she's always so helpful and great with patients we don't mind if she is essentially a BLS partner. We all encourage her to retire and she can't because she's been working private EMS and has too small of a retirement reserve.
My experience with the station grandma has been “holy shit that woman can hit an 18 from across the room in a thirty year IV drug user and will call me a pussy if my treatments aren’t aggressive enough”.
Mine was a 7 ft Amazon. i could only imagine how big she was when she was younger. She worked in a farm town ER, Dr on call, so they needed a person that would push meds her knees and back where shot from being folded in to the back of her rig for to long. She didn't put up with shit.

I worked with Rose Pelzel, one of the first female Paramedics for some years before I moved on to other things. She's now retired as of a couple years ago.
She absolutely was the EMS grandma, but she was great at her job without a doubt.
