Starting pay in alabama is $9.25/hr in the north west corner (RPS); everywhere else it's $14-15/hr Unless you were tenyeared during covid. Everyone that was around in the Montgomery Area back then got bumped up to the $20s maxing out at $25/hr.
Fire Service starts out at $42k/yr plus overtime
in the smaller cities like clanton, jemmison, bessemer, and cullman; it is for the most part. houses are still relatively "cheap". If you move into larger cities like montgomery, birmingham, huntsville, mobile; not so much.
I had to give up my full time gig because I could not make bills and not work 24 hour shifts 5 days a week and 12 hours the other two. I was literally living to work. So now i'm part time just to keep my skills up and my registry current. My registry has helped me move into industrial safety (cause everyone likes a safety guy that doubles as an EMT and can patch up the bad shit when shit goes sideways).
Good luck working for anything above $15 in WI though. Getting with fitchrona or Madison fire is almost impossible without a great resume and a lot of experience. Especially Madison fire. Same with Milwaukee fire.
All the privates in Milwaukee and Madison start EMTs between 18-23/hr. Also not hard to get on Fire Departments like Lake Country and Western Lakes. In the last 5 years Wisconsin has become one of the best paying states for EMS. Coupled with low COL, it's not a bad gig in this state.
$28, Metro Fire in Sacramento. Additional incentives available for education & longevity. 24 on/24 off/24 on/96 off. Full benefits, lots of OT available.
~$25/hr in DC with AMR doing 911. Similarly, ~$25/hr in Baltimore with H2H doing 911. All the other private agencies in the area are doing IFTs and are anywhere from like $20-up to $28 based on other random credentials not including medic
26/hr full time (40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year) is only 54k. To get to 88k from there you're talking about working 56 hours a week, every week.
Yikes.
We work a modified Berkley, 24 on/24 off for 3 working days then 4 days off. So we only work about an average of 10 days a month. Theres always over time if you want it and we do have a few on-call days a year but overall it's not that terrible.
18ish starting depending on the agency and past experience.- really anywhere from 16.50 to 21 but most come in around 18. Most scales cap out around 30. Plus shift differential, training pay, and plenty of OT incentives.
Rural NY.
Which county? I had an interview with North Fulton AMR out in Roswell literally a week or so ago, they told me 18. Unless they’re lying, which would not surprise me. 😂
That’s where I was just over a year ago making $11.50. I transferred there. When I left they said they were raising it to $18, but had no time line for it. So it could’ve changed by now. But I wouldn’t be surprised either way, as they promised me I’d keep my pay from CT for 2 years after transferring… which was almost 3 times what they offered there.
I also transferred from CT to GA but they actually let me keep my rate, but that was when they were first bringing up their Dekalb 911 division..... and they still cared about response times.....
I don’t mean to be a bother, but did you like it there at all? Was it significantly better/worse than any EMS in the area or just the average EMS experience? I haven’t decided where I plan on working at yet. This will be my first EMT job. I graduate class in 2 weeks and everyone’s HR reps have been coming in to give out conditional offers. It’s between them and Metro Atlanta ambulance service at the moment. AMR has a reputation for being extremely dependent on local management, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask. Appreciate any helpful info, and happy Thanksgiving to you/good luck if you’re on shift today. 🙏
I haven’t worked at Metro, but they do not allow basics on 911 trucks. AMR will allow basics on 911 trucks, but AMR also has an IFT division so make sure you know where you were going.
I left AMR because of the huge pay cut I took moving/ transferring even after having over 5 years with the company. And it was over an hour drive for me. I was only there for less than 6 months. I did get along with some of the crews there, but as with everything there were people there who were completely inept at their job. But that’s at every single job you’ll ever have, EMS or not. I also really struggled with the Cali 12 rotations, which are the norm here.
Sorry that doesn’t really answer your question, but that was just my experience. 🤷♀️
I make $16 something an hour after a raise at a hospital based 911 service. I get at least 8 hours of OT a week so it’s ~$43k/year I think. My old job doing IFT I made $18/hour but worked 12s so I made ~$36k working OT every chance I got.
AMR PNW area you get paid base rate ~$20 and if to take ift long distance you get stipend plus overtime if you take it as overtime. But if you are assigned to an IFT car you get paid base rate only RIP
I left the rig in 2015 and made $12.75/hr as an EMT-B. I topped out at $17/hr as an ED tech in 2019 (this was all in AZ).
I am sad, but not surprised, to see that wages haven’t moved much in a lot of places.
Minimum wage in my county, $15 hourly plus a stipend for being on a transport unit. I think it's like .75 cents but, kinda splitting hairs at that point
Not a county service but rough average for all of the services in the county (5 services) is as follows
EMT - $18/hr
AEMT - $20.50/hr
Paramedic - $25.50/hr
Bennington County, VT
Poland-52 złote , which is about 13 dolars , but for me 1 zł is like 1 dolar for somone living in usa
15 an hour w/ AMR on FL
Quit AMR, go work retail for the same money
No, I get tons of free time to study, retail doesn't allow you to get paid and study.
Wow
Panhandle? My last gig was with AMR before jumping over to a 3rd service.
I'm down south. We sadly only have fire based ems plus amr with its 911 contract.
Same here at a hospital service in AL
$25, Philly/ Southern NJ Region.
with who? if you don't mind sharing. PFD?
NJ Agency in South/central NJ, municipal
I was making 23 two years ago, nyc area
$25+ North NJ $25 Central NJ $20 if you're at a hospital in Central Idk about South NJ. Anything below Mercer County doesn't exist for me.
17-19, New York State
SE Ohio - County based 911,no IFT EMT-B: 12.50 - 15.50 EMT-A: 13.75 - 17.50 Medic: 15.50 - 20.50
jesus christ
Seriously, the high end of that medic range is what I’m making as a brand new EMT-B. And they’re paying me that much while I’m in their academy.
Same in SW Ohio unless you're in Dayton or Cinci
NE is the same unless you're in Cleveland EMS, then it's like 28
EMT’s at my company make $15.00 for 911 and $17.50 in IFT. Doesn’t make any sense to me but whatever.
Cause transfers are guaranteed money.

Holy balls I hope everything is cheap there

AMR LA county 19/hour
Better off at McDonald's in LA
They offered me $17/hr a couple months ago :(
Our EMTs are at 27-28/hr. AMR CT.
How much do medics make?
34-41/hr
High cost of living?
It’s definitely up there, but it’s worth it for me. My kids will get to go to great schools that I wasn’t able to and live in a safe area.
Highest taxes in the country, housing crisis, everything’s super expensive
You have to work at AMR though? I’ve heard bad things.
Depends on which one you work for. The AMR I work for is union and solid.
No AMR is solid lol, cutting trucks on overnight for budget. Passing calls left and right to make it to transfers.
Sounds like yours is shit.
That explains the pay rate
17 +- 2 northeastern part of illinois
Michigan $11/HR EMT, $18/HR paramedic
Same in WI, that is if you're even getting paid.
Not all of Wisconsin. The cities pay quite well
I made a little over $13 for private ambulance company in a bigger WI city

During COVID that wasn't the case for Bell, Ryan Brothers, paratech, or Curtis. It was all $11.50/hr. A lot has changed then in two years, goddamn.
Lol. No it wasn't. Bell and Ptech were 15-18 back then. Can't speak for RB, and Curtis doesn't count.
Come to SWMI its 17 here, medics 25
What part of Michigan? SE Michigan, $18. Some fire departments do part time EMTs for around $18 as well

Out of curiosity, which company?
[удалено]
$17-20 Tulsa
911?
We have IFT, BLS and 911. A handful of IFT and BLS EMTs make as much as I do as a medic.
EMSA I’m guessing?
Yeah! Its alright. Some of your typical EMS toxicity but honestly I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.
I figured! I’m really happy where I’m at in the area, and the pay isn’t bad, but damn that EMSA paycheck is tempting.
Do you know in California?
$16.70 in San Diego. Voted the most expensive city in CA. Poverty wages
