The article says they’re giving grants, which typically don’t have to be paid back unless the recipient fails to meet the terms of the grant. Which does make it a little different from a donation where the donor typically has very little control over what that money gets used for once they donate it.
Both of which are well deserved if he’s giving away that much money in a manner that directly helps people. Plenty of celebrities get a lot more positive attention for doing jack effin squat.
“Look how accepting and progressive I am!”
*“Don’t call me Latinx…”*
“First of all, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Let me explain your culture to you. I’m white you’re wrong.”
Thought the same for a second and was all, “Kevin Hart is doing more for humanity then the two richest guys on the planet, that was not on my bingo card.”
Definitely not true. my old university department had a sizable 1st gen Latino college students. We had students and faculty alike use either term. Nobody cared. I’m first gen Mexican and I never personally used Latinx but I did use Latine when writing papers and wanted to use more inclusive language. Literally nobody cared which term you used.
Ehh I know several Latino people who identify as latinx. All of them were people I knew in college. My wife is also from Colombia and several of her friends also use the term
Yeah everytime I see that word, I know for sure there are Latino people in the comments mad as hell. Don't know why news outlets still use it if that's the case, maybe because they know Latino people will be mad and they'll get a lil more clicks and engagement?
I thought we did away with that word a year or two ago when Latino people said they hated it and the only people that were using it were out of touch and had no Latino friends
Hispanic is any former Spanish colony including Spain proper. Latin is any country in Latin America. A big difference is Brazil, Latin but not Hispanic. Spain, Hispanic but not Latin. Some people don’t like Hispanic due to colonial ties.
Edit: I just wanted to add that if you're latino using that term then you deserve to get hit right across the face with your mom's chancla for all eternity.
tbf white people didn't invent that term...
Latinx emerged from queer Latinx online communities in order to challenge the gender binary.
White people just feel guilted into using it.
This title caught my eye because of how ridiculous it sounds. Using "blesses" is weird as hell. Why not just say donates?
And then using the long since derided "Latinx" term. I right we'd all agreed, especially in the Latino communities, that Latinx is stupid and makes no sense, and is itself kind of offensive to actual Latinos?
Was this title written in the early 2000s?
I don’t find him funny, or rate his acting and find the whole concept of him being a popular entertainer as very strange; but if he’s handing out a million to use and grow their business and employ more people, then as a human, I have great respect for him.
Good work Mr Hart. He seems to be all heart b
Puerto Rican here. Stop using latinx. Doesn’t make you sound inclusive or progressive. It comes off as unintelligent to the Spanish language and ignorant.
Just want to throw out there that “Latinx”, in the actual language of the culture it’s referring to (Spanish, Latin American) doesn’t make any sense and can’t even be pronounced. First of all, “Latino” is gender neutral, so it’s entirely pointless. Second, if you’re going to do it, at least make it compatible with the spoken language, something like “Latine” would work. Although, I have a feeling most non-Spanish speakers will have a tough time pronouncing it. Hint: if you say “la teen,” you’re doing it wrong.
Thanks for attending my off topic TedX talk.
Latinx drives me insane. Latin people hate, the pronunciation doesn’t even make sense in spanish.
Latin is already gender neutral and latino is used when talking about all genders. It’s stupid and unnecessary to use latinx
White people trying to change another culture’s language when they don’t want it. That’s the most offensive part.
How is Latinx a thing? So when we want to say “ellos son Americanos” are we supposed to say “ellos son Americanx” ? I mean if we are going to add an x to everyone im up for it, if not then use the word the language has that includes everyone no matter what they are which is Latinos or in this case Latin/hispanic works.
What's wrong with the word donate? Blessed is so pretentious.
Probably not a donation but an investment stake in the company
Then it’s an investment.
Inblessment
But he gets CASHBACK!
The article calls it a grant. For clarity it’s not just Hart but a fund he helped create.
So he didn’t even bless them with his money?
The article says they’re giving grants, which typically don’t have to be paid back unless the recipient fails to meet the terms of the grant. Which does make it a little different from a donation where the donor typically has very little control over what that money gets used for once they donate it.
It’s a grant fund set up by his tequila business. So not an investment, a gift.
And a pr move and a tax write off
Both of which are well deserved if he’s giving away that much money in a manner that directly helps people. Plenty of celebrities get a lot more positive attention for doing jack effin squat.
Doing good is bad
And giving money to people who need it?
What's wrong with the word Latin or Latino? Most Latin people I know hate the term Latinx
Yes we hate it.
It sounds like something white people came up to try and sound like they’re cool
No reason for it. No one was even asking for a new word for us.
I work in Spanish Language Media and I don’t ever hear it used. It’s Latin, Latina, Latino, Hispanic.
Only out of touch white people and journalists actually use it, most people think its stupid.
definitely made up by white virtue signaling Americans
It sounds like white people trying to force them to not use gendered words.
You are correct we hate it
Loathe entirely
Yeah, I don’t know what’s going on with this one. I’m trying to be politically correct but it’s like no one can agree.
It seems like it’s mostly white people forcing its use to be politically correct. While most Latin people hate the term.
“Look how accepting and progressive I am!” *“Don’t call me Latinx…”* “First of all, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Let me explain your culture to you. I’m white you’re wrong.”
I’m more upset with the word Latinx than blessed
Sounds like an Elon Musk company…
Man, rough day to be the words of this headline.
Blessed and latinx are very cringey
Also, Latinx is stupid.
Goes to show is level of influence (and wealth?)
You donate to Latino people, you bless Latinx people
As pretentious as Latinx?
So click bate. Blessed and Latinx in the same title.
Thoughts and cheques.
Just like the word latinx that literally nobody in latin america uses…
I often think back to when Kevin Hart used to caption photos with his wife with the “#MyRib” hashtag
Probably because the publication is “Black Enterprise.”
Probably plays well to the Jesusfreak demographic
Is $1m split across 100 businesses or is it $1m per business?
It’s a 10,000 dollar grant across 100 businesses.
Got it TY. Very nice!
That’s solid, you can do alot with $10k for the most part
Thought the same for a second and was all, “Kevin Hart is doing more for humanity then the two richest guys on the planet, that was not on my bingo card.”
Yeah I was like damn I didn't realize he was THAT rich
How is Kevin Hart donating a million dollars doing more than Jeff Bezos donating $3 billion?
He has a net worth of 450$M much less that in cash so almost impossible to donate 100$M
If he donated $100m that would be insane
Stop calling them Latinx. Latino people don't even accept that term
It’s weird as hell
How about Latin X one Serie S?
I remember people used to love Latin 360
it’s a modern form of language colonialism
Sounds like a condom brand
Especially when "Latin" already exists in English as gender neutral. For example: "Latin America".
mexican guy here, can confirm that it is a stupid fucking term
And I only see it at out of touch news companies and colleges
I think you mean Mexicax
Latino here. I get irrationally mad when I see that term.
Irish with a latin girlfriend here. We both get mad at it.
You mean Éire-x, right? RIGHT?
It's rational though
I mean, yes, but just seeing the word and I can feel my blood pressure rising and I don't enjoy that.
Shit sounds like Sonic X
It actually reminds me of common usernames in early online gaming. X naturally being the coolest letter you get names like xXnoobStomperXx.
When you try so hard to be inclusive that you sound stupid instead
And also don’t say blesses. There were no ordained clerics present. They just made a foundation. This whole headline is a lot.
Should have said gifts instead
a la verga with that term: i don’t know anyone that uses that or accepts it.
Pendejos.
Gringos.
Gringxs.
You mean people don't like being called Lah-tinks?
Twinks
I who am Latino do not like it, it’s weird.
Well sit tight I'm sure some self hating white person will be along shortly to explain how wrong you are
They’re here somewhere, dying on one particularly strange hill, yeah
Colombian here, co-sign that.
[удалено]
*Latintwitter*
Thank you!! I’m Latino/hispanic and I fucking hate it. It’s so stupid. I’m gonna start calling people whitex then.
Makes me think of the sphinx every time
Most of us don’t. It’s the young ones in college pushing it.
No not even young ones in college, it’s just people who aren’t Latino
Definitely not true. my old university department had a sizable 1st gen Latino college students. We had students and faculty alike use either term. Nobody cared. I’m first gen Mexican and I never personally used Latinx but I did use Latine when writing papers and wanted to use more inclusive language. Literally nobody cared which term you used.
Latine is better tbh
Ehh I know several Latino people who identify as latinx. All of them were people I knew in college. My wife is also from Colombia and several of her friends also use the term
Agreed. The whole language is based around gender.
And that's exactly the problem white people are trying to save them from. /s
The correct term is Non-Gender-Specific Members of the Latin American Diaspora.
Just call me a slur instead fr 😭
Yeah everytime I see that word, I know for sure there are Latino people in the comments mad as hell. Don't know why news outlets still use it if that's the case, maybe because they know Latino people will be mad and they'll get a lil more clicks and engagement?
Latinx discourse always feels like non latino people arguing over a word while they just watch
Is that like a transgender Latino?
No se pero no me gusta
Debería de ser latines
Tienes sentido
I despise that word.
I thought we did away with that word a year or two ago when Latino people said they hated it and the only people that were using it were out of touch and had no Latino friends
Agree. Should only be used by virtue signalers.
Fr wtf does it even mean
Stop with that Latinx bullshit
It really sounds like a tag on pornhub.
Just a Latina here to co-sign.
Spanish is a gendered language, latina and latino. Wtf is a Latinx?
The bigger problem is that a gender neutral term has always existed its Latin.
Hell even Hispanic works, but Latinx has to be the dumbest thing ever invented to try and create inclusivity that wasn’t needed
I was wondering why they'd make up a new one when we already had hispanic
Hispanic is any former Spanish colony including Spain proper. Latin is any country in Latin America. A big difference is Brazil, Latin but not Hispanic. Spain, Hispanic but not Latin. Some people don’t like Hispanic due to colonial ties.
Not all who are Latin are Hispanic…
I'm sure you could list out a Brazilian examples of that.
Thank you for telling me that, i didnt know
A Latin sphinx.
It’s the rude version of an old language that hardly anyone speaks anymore.
Latinx is not a word, white people need to chill out with that crap
As a Martinez, I wholeheartedly agree.
Hold up, it’s *Martinex* now
Dude I’m going to have to share this with my mom she’ll bust up.
You can tell mamx but don’t you dare tell papx
Don’t you mean Martinx?
I’m an Xmericxn. We must ban all o and as
The author is black and the publication is called “Black Enterprise”
Speaking as one, if you’re not Latino don’t use the term. If you are Latino you’re an idiot for using the term.
Edit: I just wanted to add that if you're latino using that term then you deserve to get hit right across the face with your mom's chancla for all eternity.
Chanclx
Ironically, I think a black guy wrote this.
tbf white people didn't invent that term... Latinx emerged from queer Latinx online communities in order to challenge the gender binary. White people just feel guilted into using it.
Changing my last name from Villa to Villex
Blatant white hate for no reason.
As a white person, I agree. Can us whites stop misusing “woke” as well?
How do we know white people started this?
Cuz no other racial group would have the nerve to make it up
You look dumb, talking out the ass.
Blacx and Latinx are going to be so grateful.
As a HumanX, I’m so proudx. Xstatic even.
The second I saw the word “Latinx” I had to go to the comments.
STOP USING LATINX, dumbass word
#Kevin Hart Gets Started On Maxing Out Fiscal Year 2024 Tax Deductible Donations
Is he a priest? Lol
This post has its head so fucking far up its own ass it’s finding polyps. “Blesses” “Latinx” go fuuuuuuuck yourself with that bullshit.
“Latinx” uuuggGGHHHH
Stop trying to make latinx happen. We don’t want it.
Latinx? Get the fuck out of here with that.
No nos gusta la X
Eso no es importante. Las personas blancas (blamcx. Lo siento) dijeron que tu idioma es ofensivx. Ustedes tienen que cambiarlo.
Cambiarlx
Why use the word Latinx. It’s Latinos!
Fuck “Latinx”. Stop trying to remove gender from a gendered language.
Latinx it such an american made up term to tell us what is "offensive" to us
Say Latinx one more time, I double dare you.
No Latino likes to be called Latinx, it’s insulting, demeaning and condescending.
Every time I see that stupid “Latinx” word I think of the movie Jason X
It's "Latino" not "Latine" and certainly not "Latinx"
Stop trying to make "Latinx" a thing. It's never gonna be thing.
Downvote just for using "Latinx"
latinx is so fuckin stupid
I’m Latino, if you refer to me as a Latinx, I’m going to drill into you.
Latino here, stop using Latinx, it isn’t real, thanks.
I find the term Latinx highly offensive.
I don’t find him funny, or rate his acting and find the whole concept of him being a popular entertainer as very strange; but if he’s handing out a million to use and grow their business and employ more people, then as a human, I have great respect for him. Good work Mr Hart. He seems to be all heart b
Fucking STOP using latinx. No latinos ever said to call us that. wtf man. Pisses me off so much.
As a latino, using the word “Latinx” brings great insult, do not use that word in any Latin American country
What a ridiculous title. The dude isn’t Jesus Christ
What Latinx are we a virus ?
Latinx should be considered as big of a Slur as the N Word. No one who's Hispanic likes that word.
Puerto Rican here. Stop using latinx. Doesn’t make you sound inclusive or progressive. It comes off as unintelligent to the Spanish language and ignorant.
That’s a weird way of saying he’s trying to fix his reputation as a rich dick
What is Latinx LOL
Stop with the Latinx bullshit
The term Latinx reeks of some weird American white savior complex or something, not a single Latino I’ve ever met likes the term.
Creepy author saying latinx
No love for the Axian community? /s /just wanted to make a dumb axian joke
Stop with Latinx
Just want to throw out there that “Latinx”, in the actual language of the culture it’s referring to (Spanish, Latin American) doesn’t make any sense and can’t even be pronounced. First of all, “Latino” is gender neutral, so it’s entirely pointless. Second, if you’re going to do it, at least make it compatible with the spoken language, something like “Latine” would work. Can’t stand him but that is pretty awesome 👏
A blessed tax write off.
Stop with the Latinx. No one wants to do that!
>Latinx Can we stop trying to make this a thing? No one in Latin America thinks that term is anything other than white liberal idiocy
It came from the queer Latin community, and this article is written by a black guy. Where does white come in to play?
Latinx is not a thing. Say Latino or use a different word
Latinx drives me insane. Latin people hate, the pronunciation doesn’t even make sense in spanish. Latin is already gender neutral and latino is used when talking about all genders. It’s stupid and unnecessary to use latinx White people trying to change another culture’s language when they don’t want it. That’s the most offensive part.
Stop using "latinx" that is a white term, none of us like it.
LaTiNx Stupidest shit I’ve ever seen.
This site is actually using the word Latinx unironically in 2024.
Latinx isn’t a thing.
Man $1million has been donated and reddits crying over the headline. Misery loves company
Latinx is still a thing?
brought to you by draftkings!
More racists bullshit.
Latinx is made up white people bullshit
Wtf is small black ? And Latinx ? Are we in some new naming universe? This motherfuckers doesn't represent all blacks.. they're usually bigger
