I love seeing them in the wild. I was working on my Litter Robot and noticed it was using an esp32. I was excited and told my wife, but she had no idea what I was talking about šŸ˜‚

tjorben123

lol. felt the same as i was checking a device for malfunction and found one. nobody understands us.

MissTortoise

I was excitedly telling my wife that I had found a problem with the oscilloscope that I'd impulse bought. She asked what's an oscilloscope, I said it plots voltage on short time scales. She asked what's voltage. So I explained voltage and She got it... I think

Craigus_Conquerer

Tell her how much it cost, and that you can fix more stuff than the scope is worth. She'll understand that

Routine_Cellist_3683

That's why I give toilet augers as house warming gifts. One service call pays for the tool.

IceMichaelStorm

I told my wife that ESP32 donā€™t all have Zigbee so that I need to pick a good one if I want to create a custom sensor that is driven by battery. She gets it because sheā€™s an engineer and currently creates a startup with a product based on ESP32 herself

YeeClawFunction

Like using an esp32 as a zigbee device?

IceMichaelStorm

Thatā€™s not her thing :) and might be my fault. But I think there are models of ESP32 which can do zigbee but not sure about power consumption

ConfusedStair

I install pool equipment, and pretty much anything with a Wi-Fi connection has switched over to ESP chips. Even big names like Fluidra and Raypak.

Foreign_Today7950

Oo how big is that relay?

LucyEleanor

That big black box on the circuit board isn't a relay but a power supply. https://www.trustedparts.com/en/part/recom/RAC10-05SK-277?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwps-zBhAiEiwALwsVYd7vUCGDOKpvfGEoodYGt9xp0aGRTf47pu58clxTX7UIl7yeIkcTwBoCjP4QAvD_BwE

Foreign_Today7950

The big white one, I believe is.šŸ§

LucyEleanor

Looks like 1 of these. Maybe 35A one? https://www.azettler.com/solar-electromechanical-relays/

TheReal8

What controller is this?

Anx2k

Looks like it's a Huum - and it looks like they're pretty proud of what they made, if the price is any indication! ;) [https://nordicasauna.com/products/huum-uku-sauna-control?variant=44370896748837](https://nordicasauna.com/products/huum-uku-sauna-control?variant=44370896748837)

GrizzlyPerr

Sheesh, was not expecting those numbers.

TheReal8

Lol. Agreed!

jowasabiii

I own one of these saunas, 22kw model and I have the same controller setup. Esp is used for remote triggering of heating but it is around 300eur payment to unblock this feature. I actually wouldnt recommend these saunas as I have taken mine back for warranty repairs every 4 to 6 months as heater elements just die and break. All good with the controller part so far

TheReal8

Yeah, for the price, I'll just make my own. I've been working on a ESP32 based hot tub controller, and I was hoping this could fit it, but I'll stick with the custom route. :)

Henji99

Just out of curiosity, has anyone ever done serious pentests on these? I just have this horrifying thought of millions upon millions of wifi connected sensors and actors, that all have a backdoor that could be exploited WatchDogs (the game) style.

WeeJeWel

Hereā€™s an article for some background: https://homey.app/en-us/blog/smart-home-founders-siim-nellis-henrik-ling-huum/

rathersplendid

Shine like a diamond. Lovely. Oh, how I'd love to probe your busses and hopefully find a way of bodging the cold spray to clear the sauna whenever I need it to myself. But I must behave.

Street_Bet3956

My eyes were more drawn to the area that looks like its ready for shielding on the right. Esp32's are everywhere now but what's in that other area.

RangerZEDRO

Too blurry

DamageCase13

Sorry, sauna was on, too steamy to get clear image.

RangerZEDRO

No problem, I can see it now when I zoom in. Idk why I thought it wont be visible before
