Belgium and Croatia are real contenders and will probably still be competitive/among the top 10 European countries even after their golden generations are gone, kinda like Portugal.
Serbia is decent, but have never really been that competitive at major tournaments.

Because prior to the 2000's, Belgium has always been a regular at major tournaments.
Belgium is ranked 10th in best WC countries of all time based on points and 8th in Countries with most WC appearances in history.
Yes, 2004-2012 was a bad period, but alot has changed since then. Youth academies, domestic league, investments etc...
Even looking at some of the talent coming through.
Openda, Doku, De Ketelaere, Onana, Vranckx, Saelemaekers, De Winter, Ngonge, Debast etc...
I think Belgium is overlooked in this tournament after the World Cup disaster but I do believe they can be one of the surprising team this year. Less pressure on them than in 2018/2021/2022. Only big issue is the defense…
Croatia has also the opportunity to go deep again but their group is quite tough and I’m not sure they can repeat their World Cup run.
