Not speed up but maybe skip to the part? I mean if it all happened all over again but in 2x speed that would be disastrous

HrabiaVulpes

WW3 with genocide speedrun...

Heliment_Anais

Na. He will fall down a balcony and accidentally shoot himself in the back while falling.

kaesefetisch

Twice

Klaphood

Thrice

markth_wi

Accidents happen, especially in Russia.

Anmordi

Hope a random plane is crashing with no crew explodes and a debris penetrates right through the window he’s in

markth_wi

There have been more than a few slip and falls in Mr. Putin's inner circle these days.

Anmordi

Like what?

markth_wi

[These guys .... to name a few](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_Russian_businessmen_suspicious_deaths) , makes one concerned for the bunch of them given how suddenly clumsy , unlucky they all seem to have become.

RedAIienCircle

You know, that sounds awfully suspicious... almost like you don't really believe it will be an accident.

Saurid

Well how else do you explain the suicide note for the accidnet that was found 4 whole days after his detah in the and writing of the new president?

Background_Rich6766

based, but I'd like to see him stand trial unlike Hitler

haruku63

Yeah. When such shitheads get killed or commit suicide, they usually gain some martyr status among their followers. Having them stand trial gives a chance they expose themselves as the coward pile of shit they are.

utsuriga

On the one hand I agree, on the other hand I just want to see him dead and gone...

Anonim97

I mean one of the punishments at Nuremberg Trials was hanging, so it's not like trials would result in him not being dead...

outoftimeman

Yes, but Putin would be judged in The Hague, and there's no death penalty there

Anonim97

Aren't "war crimes" and "crimes against humanity" considered exception to "no death penalty"? No, seriously, I don't know.

casperkaalund

No. The EU and NATO wouldn't hang him. What wouldn't that give of an image. Trial, and prison in exile stuff I bet.

[deleted]

Send him to Ukraine and let them hang him. Just a thought. That said, my money is on his cancer killing him in a hospital bed. Bunker optional.

casperkaalund

Weren't the cancer thing just rumors? Or have something new come out?

Poes-Lawyer

Yes, we could exile him to a little island off the coast of Italy. I'm sure nothing could go wrong with that

casperkaalund

Send him to the home where the Imperial family was executed

Anonim97

... huh. Then I guess Nuremberg was an exception to the rule? Or have they happened before the "no death penalty" became a rule?

ElectableEmu

That was before both of those organizations existed, so...

casperkaalund

Yes, also that.

casperkaalund

I'm not an expert at the subject. I think the hanging at the Nuremberg Trials happened, because the Europeans were still very exhausted from WW2 and just seeked revenge. I know I would have wanted them hanged. But from a modern perspective, I just don't think it would happen to Putin. Edit: also because right now only Ukraine is in the war (with some help of course). I don't think the suits in Brussels would let it happen.

Xtrems876

Nuremberg happened before these rules were put in place. Not only that but also in some now-EU countries back then not only death penalty was given, but also it was executed in public. The last public hanging in Poland was right after WW2, and it was for a german war criminal

Oerthling

I wouldn't shed a tear, but I too would prefer him in a court.

_Denzo

How about he stands trial then that happens

[deleted]

utsuriga

>Hell, he’s getting to the age where strongman heads of state get “rotated out” anyway, since he can’t make lifelong promises to the upper-middle officer corps. Yeah, that's not how Eastern European autocracies roll. Over here autocrats are not dependent on oligarchs and the support of upper-middle party officers, it's the oligarchs and upper-middle party officers who are completely dependent on the autocrat. Otherwise Putin would be long gone by now, instead we have a streak of oligarchs and politicians "committing suicide" or otherwise dying violent deaths. Around here autocrats hold on to their power by manipulating the public, creating an alternate reality for them; and by quite literally eliminating anyone they think may be threatening them. Remember Stalin? or even Hungary's Kádár? They weren't "rotated out", both died in old age, of natural causes. Romania's Ceaușescu was not rotated out either, he was overthrown by an actual civilian rebellion that set the entire existing system on fire. Putin will not be "rotated out" either, he'll sooner have his entire inner circle murdered.

punchgroin

Kruschev was "rotated out" But he was honestly the most admirable Russian leader of the 20th century. The military wasn't having any of his "de-escalate the cold War" shit. Just like what happened to the Kennedys.

utsuriga

Khrushchev wasn't an autocrat the way Stalin, etc. were. Party leaders have been "rotated" by the main büro in the Soviet Union, but they weren't autocrats on the level of Stalin or Kádár or Ceaușescu. >Just like what happened to the Kennedys. ............yeeeeah.

GnomeConjurer

I mean hitler was fairly "exposed" (Is it exposing if it was never hidden?), obviously being brought to trial is the best case scenario but I see him either being killed in a conspiracy by his subordinates or killing himself fearing what they would do before he would be handed over to courts

BannedForSayingNword

Goering would’ve probably been remembered as “the fearless general of the Luftwaffe” if he hadn’t been exposed at Nuremberg as a morphine junkie passing the buck

JayR_97

Best we can hope for is that he gets Ceaucescu'd

nautilius87

Even better, Gaddafied, bayonet in the ass style.

Soccmel_1

good luck with that. Romanians were not cowards, the Russians, on the other hand, either stay silent or flee to Georgia or Turkey

timisanaLugoj

He was executed for the romanian secret police to save face. Literally, the entire system needs to fell down and be replaced in Russia to prevent another oligarch to take power and become Putin 2. Even climate change is giving us a heads up that we should go again for Moscow, Maybe they will not bomb us if we go with the pretext of liberating the country of the people responsabile of all poverty. How its the saying? the third time comes with luck?

SmArty117

As a Romanian, you're unfortunately right on the first point. Ceausescu was executed alright, but the rest of the system continued for a while with a new face. But even then they were forced to appear more democratic and eventually lost their complete grip on power. It's very hard for the people though, and I fear to think what such an unstable transitional system would do given all the resources of Russia at their disposal.

timisanaLugoj

Yeah, the second part was a joke, but I only knew about "securitatea" because my mother is romanian and was in the crowd in Bucharest at Ceausescus famous last speech. It is pretty shocking that almost the entire system (except for the figurehead) is still in power. And more shocking that it is studied as a revolution. From my mothers words, Romania is still run like pre-1989 if it wasnt Ceausescu that needed to be always pleased. The political class reflects that. Pretty sad if this is true. And also, Im billingual in romanian, even though I was raised somewhere else :))

SmArty117

I don't think you're right about the second part. If your mother left the country a long time ago, she might not really realise how much has changed in the last 20 years or so. Plus us Romanians love, and I mean love, to say that it's literally the worst place on earth. I think a lot of the structures stayed as they were after 1989 because there was nothing to replace them, but started to crack after the 1996 election when Iliescu was voted out. Definitely by now most of that is gone, and for most people the rule of law works as intended. A lot of politicians are liars, or incompentent, or sometimes corrupt, though it's so so far from what it was under Ceausescu. You need only compare that with Moldova, which was in a pretty similar place economically and culturally in '89-91, but never reformed properly until a few years ago. The levels of poverty and corruption, and also of brain drain, are immensely higher, sadly.

timisanaLugoj

well, 1989 is a long time ago, I would have been surprised if no progress would not have been made. Yeah, my mom left in the 90s because in her words: "it was literal hell to find a job who paid well enough to have a decent life". She is actually from a town around "Timisoara", so, idk how she looked at other regions in Romania, especially Moldova, where she never went even when she was still in the country, but basically, she told me that everything in the county (Im assuming Timis county is the one shes reffering) looks worse except for that big city. Well, the only years she spend in the post-revolution Romania was the worst years of her life, so her views are skewed to be negative. Honnestly, I dont know why she teached me romanian if she didnt intended to move back there again.

SmArty117

Ah I get it, one wants to keep some connection to their language and ancestry even if they move away. And yeah, the years after the revolution until around 2000-2005 were very very hard, almost everyone was very poor, so I understand people leaving with very bad memories.

timisanaLugoj

Oh, Yeah, thanks for clarification. Glad to get the full picture.

[deleted]

"Third time's the charm" But I really don't think moving on Moscow would work - history has made that clear. Don't invade Russia, and don't invade Afghanistan.

Equal-Twist7098

I agree like shit heads stay shit heads.

timisanaLugoj

Both were ruthless dictators who were executing people personally and needed external powers to take them out of theyre power position. Putin is even failing to take out a much smaller country where he is the aggressor. In times like this, people for sure are questioning if hes really the one capable of ruling Russia and, from now on, every political enemy, can call him out for this major political failing. He loses public support as long, as the war is not showing any major win for the russians.

[deleted]

[удалено]

timisanaLugoj

Idk what will happen. It certantly depends on a multitude of factors. Russia will go through bursts of fighting followed by times of doing nothing. For example, this autumn and the lately bombing of Kyiv. Everybody gives Ukraine weapons for free just to laugh in Russias face and Ukraine having the moral high ground, theres no shortage of volunteers, while Russia gets worse deals from its neighbors (they sell their gas to china for nothing because Russia has no powerful friends). It just a matter of how much time they can be humilliated to fund a war theyre demonised for. Putin cant use nuclear weapons because its not worth for an offensive war. Theyre only hope is some crazy shenanigans and military wins to boost russian morale. Otherwise, Ukraine will defend along Dnieper against Russia. Think about Russia as the German Empire in WW1. They were only willing to make peace because the civillian morale were crushed after 4 years of naval blockade and having fresh american troops in the tranches. 100 years didnt change the need for civillian support.

Bovvser2001

Wouldn't really say putler having a trial would change much *in the POV of his supporters*, they would just start claiming it was a "political court", like many Serbs, Croats, Albanians and Bosniaks say about their respective ppl trialed by the [ICTY](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Criminal_Tribunal_for_the_former_Yugoslavia) and the [KSC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kosovo_Specialist_Chambers).

jorgespinosa

Even with that, people still support them, I've seen people praise Adolf Eichman. I would argue if they stand trial it gives them a opportunity to promote their ideology instead of just dying without the world seeing them

servonos89

Yeah if hitler got publicly and thoroughly humiliated we wouldn’t have nazis today. I hope at least. There’s a stupid historical ‘honour’ in killing yourself to avoid the victors opinion becoming the lay of the land. But Putin will go by defenestration. It’s the only poetic way for him to leave this earth without public trial.

Heliment_Anais

Please don’t downvote. He won’t be tried. With the resources of Russia and the apathy of his people he will just try to barricade himself in the country and live the rest of his life eating the meals thrice the size of what your everyday Russian will be able to afford.

Background_Rich6766

yeah, I know this is the most likely outcome but we can only dream

Heliment_Anais

It’s funny that I don’t even need to know that much from the economic standpoint of Russia to suspect the outcome just due to having to hear every single history teacher of Poland talking about the communist era in Poland. On the other hand it is sad that somewhere out there is a country that will pay dearly for the wrongdoings of one man and his inner circle.

Odys

Ukraine pais the direst price for their freedom, but Russia itself is perhaps damaged even more as they now got an even more sinister reputation then they already had.

Heliment_Anais

I had spoken with a resident of Russia a while back. The problem is that many of these people don’t know how bad things are. I mean the girl’s concerns at the time were involving her being sold to a marriage candidate in exchange for certain items and money to the family. It is not just the problem of people not getting the news, it is one of people living in a reality so different from anything West of Russia that they would view our life’s as nonsensical. So not only do you need to understand another language and have a know-how-to to actually browse in the internet of another nation but also need an understanding of how things work at it’s core to actually be able to even start suspecting that something is not right with the place you live in. Besides things won’t change for those people overnight. First they will have to rely on each other’s resources, then when that little river runs dry there will be a beginning of unrest but not too much since it’s hard to protest on an empty stomach and then they will finally be angry when the rhetoric won’t be able to outtalk the months worth of empty stomachs. In summary Russia has a lot of time before there will be a popular internal unrest simply due to how their people work. EDITS: Typos.

rjs1138

The cruelest thing that could be done to Putin, Lavarov, Peskov, Medvedev et al is to be placed under house arrest with nothing...in a typical Soviet era apartment block in some shitty, miserable part of the country like a lot of the population, for the rest of their natural lives.

marathai

He probably, already bought himself fancy mansion somewhere where he would escape. I wonder what would happen with his doubles.

e-bobot

well, ok, at least let him choke to death with a bone during another triple meal

mightylordredbeard

I’m not sure. We’ve seen Hitler’s top generals tried, Saddam Hussein, and most recently Slobodan Milosevic so it’s entirely possible. Granted Milosevic didn’t have the same power as Putin, but with both Hussein and Milosevic people had the same sentiment “they won’t be tried”. Hell no one ever though Suddam would be tried and it happened.

Bushgjl

Both cases had American/NATO direct intervention. Chances are the Hussein dynasty would still be around without American intervention.

TheChoonk

Vilnius agrees. https://i.imgur.com/9d7pP1E.jpg

kaesefetisch

Nice! Brace yourself for ignorant comments that ask how it's possible that a sign in Vilnius is in English...have to deal with dozens of them right now

Tendas

…wait, are you guys *not* American and you speak English?

TheChoonk

Only braindead vatniks complain about that and the Ukrainian flag, so I'm not too worried. That building is the Vilnius City Council.

gwaydms

People all over the world use English to get a message out to a wider audience, since it's the most common second language.

Background_Rich6766

[deleted]

The problem is that, although I would love to see that, I don't think that he's going to be on trial any time soon. So the only thing that we can hope for this filth is the Ceaușescu's treatment...

Background_Rich6766

Ceaușescu did stand trial, the outcome was pre-determined, but you don't need more than that, we all know what he did, I'd like to see it live, followed by the "outcome"

Top-Turnip-6354

I'd like to see him serving a life sentence in the same prison and conditions they put Navalny in.

Soccmel_1

I'd like to see him drink a cup of tea and meet the same end Litvinenko had

lesiashelby

I’d like to see him get Gaddafi treatment, he’s scared shitless ending like this

Carnal-Pleasures

Seeing him go the way of Ceaucescu is the best that we can realistically hope for.

Background_Rich6766

get the best of both, trial and execution

Carnal-Pleasures

A 5 minutes "Guilty?" followed by the 5 people around nodding enthusiastically does not meet my criteria for a trial. Guilty as he might have been, he was kangaroo courted.

[deleted]

Which dictator/king/leader was the last one where we held actually a trial? Napoleon?

wtfduud

Saddam Hussein in 2003. Sentenced to death by hanging.

brightirene

Captured in 2003, sentenced to death and hanged in 2006

Soccmel_1

Milosevic as well. It didn't really make a difference though, since Serbs are still as nationalistic as before

fbass

Yup, still considered a hero by way too many of them!

Background_Rich6766

it would be funny af if they made Putin the president of some island in the Arctic ocean

fgreen68

If it would save lives I'd like pootin to die yesterday.

[deleted]

I'd rather see him get the Mussolini treatment

mental_monkey

He needs the Gaddafi treatment, especially since that is one that apparently scarred him at the time.

Soviet_Aircraft

More like the one of Ceauşescu. Nothing speaks more than a dictator getting killed by his unders.

Odys

Looked that up: "sodomized with a bajonet" is indeed a bit less pleasant than just being executed.

NoMoassNeverWas

I'd hope it's not a bayonette but the golden toilet brush from his winery on the black sea. Many Russians know what I'm talking about.

LxS-San

How did Mussolini died ? Have no clue about his death

[deleted]

executed by partisans and then pissed on his corpse

Bushgjl

Not entirely, Nazi Germany occupied Italy at the time and when the Allies launched their invasion into the peninsula Mussolini tried to flee by car to German controlled territory but was captured by some local Communists.

Bukler

Murdered before he could left the country, and after people had their fun kicking and pissing on him they put Mussolini on a cross and went around for a bit with him on a cross but reversed, with hus feet up

kakao_w_proszku

I’d argue it’s bad for Ukraine because the ultimate goal for CEE is for Russia to break its teeth on this war and disintegrate. We don’t want even someone like Navalny to take the lead and attempt to facelift the country among the Western public (you just know there are people im the West waiting at the edge of their seats for any opportunity to say “see, they’re good guys now!”). We don’t want *any* Russia in Europe, period.

Bushgjl

There will be a Russia in Europe regardless of what you want, they're are have a ethnic and cultural identity. It's not something that is just going to disappear in our lifetimes.

kakao_w_proszku

Russia can continue to exist, preferably as an actual nation state and not an imperialist zombie that it is right now. We just dont want it to be a part of the European world, which they clearly do not belong to.

kiru_56

For the plot, Putin must marry Alina Kabayeva. There are already videos in which he publicly slags off his own people for mistakes made in his state, looking at you Sergei Naryshkin and Denis Mantuorov, so phase 1 is already done. But Kabayeva actually chill in luxury in Switzerland than set foot in Russia, the script is currently faltering...

zdzislav_kozibroda

Phase 1 - Slagging people off further down the chain is a Russian style of rule since forever. "Good tsar, bad boyars" - Oh no the tsar is good he wouldn't do this. It's the {insert random underling} 's fault. Lets the Russian masses continue to live in illusion that someone actually cares about them and accept their fate and misery.

Darebarsoom

> Lets the Russian masses continue to live in illusion that someone actually cares about them and accept their fate and misery. There is no illusion. They are know it's a facade and they play along.

It's so a large non-Polish population of the city can also understand the message. Only Poles and some Ukrainian/Belarussian immigrants understand Polish. Most will understand a statement in English.
