But thereās a sentence in the elder book that says if they sin and no one finds out then they are ok and donāt need to confess it. Why do they get special treatment?
There are plenty of meds that we can consume without a prescription [or card, in this case] to treat ailments. Cards require extra process and expense, and many may not see the benefit of getting the med discount, if any, if they're light consumers.
They may get burned on smoking [unlikely], but not on "drugs", if you were to say anything.
I'm happy weed is essentially regulated like alcohol [one of the most damaging drugs on the planet, statistically] now, and quite destigmatized.

I think itās wrong that there is subset of people that do not have access to a treatment that could substantially reduce their stress. This creates a privileged class that gets to break the rules and the ones that probably need it the most are prevented from having it. Iām sick of this. These kinds of hierarchies make dangerous groups survive longer because the privileged group thrives on their power and privilege, tells everyone things arenāt so bad because they are NOT subject to the same rules, and they continue to enforce those harmful rules on very vulnerable people.

I've had a medical weed card for a few years. I know several others who do as well. I also know others who do not have medical cards but use it for medical reasons. I do not know of any who openly admit to using it for recreation. However, I know that many likely do (including myself, although primarily for medical reasons).
I'm not sure what state you are in, but the state I am in will only list you as a medical user if you are a card carrier. So, even though many use it for medical, unless they have a card, the dispensary will list them as recreational users.
For reference, I am an elders wife, and I am PIMO.
Side note...I'm (mildly) shocked that an elder was buying pre rolled blunts. My understanding is that if a JW uses it for medical reasons, they are NOT to smoke it. LOL, I bet that elder was shaking in his shoes when he saw you!

I smoked for like 10 years as a pretty convincing PIMO. My mom ended up finding some empty carts of mine and told me to tell the elders or she would. I fought about it because one elder did already know, and was fine. But had to go through with meeting with more elders, they wrote a letter to the branch. I was nervous for months until we got the reply stating that āsoundness of mind needs to be used.ā Essentially, as long as I wasnāt broadcasting it, or offering it to anyone else, I was in the clear. Soo, they never made an announcement but Iām sure the general consensus got around and a lot of people are okay with it, especially in edible form.

I smoked for like 10 years as a pretty convincing PIMO. My mom ended up finding some empty carts of mine and told me to tell the elders or she would. I fought about it because one elder did already know, and was fine. But had to go through with meeting with more elders, they wrote a letter to the branch. I was nervous for months until we got the reply stating that āsoundness of mind needs to be used.ā Essentially, as long as I wasnāt broadcasting it, or offering it to anyone else, I was in the clear. Soo, they never made an announcement but Iām sure the general consensus got around and a lot of people are okay with it, especially in edible form.
That's interesting, I wonder if they are "pimo" I wouldn't expose them either, it's not like they are doing anything wrong. The hypocrisy is irritating tho, I was dfd for drinking alcohol when I was only 23, that was my wake up call.

Tbh I know quite a few witnesses that openly consume weed with a prescription (I dont know any witnesses who live in recreational states) thereās nothing in the Bible that condemns weed in and of itself, just smoking it, stuff like weed and hair dye and tattoos arenāt against the jw religion, but half the people in the congregation donāt know or care

I helped my elder grandfather get a weed card for my grandmother because she had cancer. He told me the rule was if itās legal in your state and you need it medically itās all good. Iām in California if that matters.

Lots of jw's on the green especially here in Canada. A few years back there was a get together at an elders house that was suspiciously outspoken about weed. He opened up his freezer for some ice and there was a plate of frozen brownies in it.
Is it legal to purchase where you live? Regardless I agree with the get out of jail card. I have a cartridge for pain management and it is the only thing that helps to be honest.

I remember a few years ago I was staying at a friends house whoās wife was my boss, but also JWās, and she introduced me to the insurance game which I love. I was with him in his truck as we were driving around town, and he whips his vape out and says ā yeah this stuff really helps my anxiety! Do you feel comfortable if I vape this around you?ā I ofcourse said yes but I was still concerned because I was just waking up too and I had thought of their family as the perfect witness family.
