Hi yes, I have anxiety over walking, give me mobility aids that could go to someone who actually needs it. (Presses big old sarcasm button)

InfiniteCarpenters

As we all know the typical recommendation when treating OCD is to indulge the obsessive thoughts as much as possible. This makes them better, not much much worse. (Give me a turn on that sarcasm button)

*laughs maniacally in spiral*

Chaegorath

Bad news, Captain - that's actually part of an already existing subtype of OCD. Yes, that includes chewing, breathing, swallowing, etc. No, it's neither fun, nor quirky. No, you didn't create something new, you didn't even reinvent the wheel, you lazy sod.

pnptcn-prj

i feel like there's generally such a fundamental misunderstanding of OCD (i.e. "i'm soooo ocd i have to straighten all my pens!!!" and that whole.. phenomenon) that people are trying their damnedest to interpret it in different ways, even if.. it's already an actual existing symptom or subtype. it's irritating.

LauryPrescott

I’m sooo OCD. I just have to wear two socks. Which subtype is this?!

pnptcn-prj

i'm so sorry to break the news, but you have footCD. and it's terminal.

OCD is the rituals one (as in flipping light switches an even number of times, etc). OCCD is the intrusive thoughts one, which used to be considered part of OCD, but have since come to be considered a separate disorder.

Chaegorath

What's the second C for then? Edit: I'd also have to ask for some sauce for that, since Google is most unhelpful. Edit 2: Will assume it was a typo, not the kind of OCD that makes you obsess over these kinds of things.

Sorry_Syllabub_4745

They might have mistyped and meant OCPD? Obsessive compulsive personality disorder. It’s not just intrusive thoughts, but is different from OCD. What does asking for sauce mean, in this context?

Chaegorath

Thank you. You're a lifesaver, I was typing out a 2000 character paragraph on the difference between compulsion and obsession and how they're intrinsically linked, based on that, assumed, typo. I meant source, have the habit of saying sauce instead of that. Circlejerk habit, I guess.

Dan_Amy

my dad has COPD bad. he thinks his food is poisoned if it isn't like a can from just the right spot on the shelf, and can only go to certain stores that have "been shown" to be safe. from what I can tell what he uses to decide somewhere is safe is pretty arbitrary, but it really affects him on the daily. the intrusive thoughts include things like hurting people, or if I don't flip this switch exactly 100 times at least once in the right orderyother will die. it isn't even necessarily a clean up type of disorder, some people leave their house a mess because if the dog hair is cleaned up it will kill the dog for some reason. a lot of the time they know it's ridiculous, but can't stop themselves from feeling or thinking this way. It is an easy one for people to claim they have and most that do, don't.

captainjacksboat

do you mean OCPD? COPD is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

NvrmndOM

Why does the flag look like it’s about to start breakdancing? And while I don’t think there’s any shame in having OCD (I mean I’ve got it), I don’t want a pride flag ffs. I don’t really tell people because it’s my business and I don’t want them to start looking for OCD like behaviors.

_XSummerRoseX_

Ikr. These flag are just…weird. What the point for the flag in the first place.

TheMakeABishFndn

It looks like they are vibrating so hard their head is falling off!

Significant_Spot_304

How to tell if you have ocd: you begin violently vibrating and then get decapitated

MinkMartenReception

Standing gait? Do they even know what a gait is?

LauryPrescott

Fainting goat? ![gif](giphy|7zF3biR7j50eQ)

Strange-Middle-1155

What do you mean made up? Never heard of the ministry of silly walks from Monty python? You know, the very real documentaries about life...

peacedetski

I'm a longtime sufferer from Compulsive Chad Stride Disorder (CCSD), ama

I-Luv-Da-Pizza

A minister of silly walks may have had this

That_Arty_One

My dad once said(in a loving/joking way) when I run I look like Lurch from the Addams family and now I can't help but imagine Lurch every time I jog 😂

judith-has-a-knife

I love people turning specifics into individual disorders. The symptom isn’t the problem and some people just don’t get that

0MeikoMeiko0

They should take it to the ministry of silly walks. ![gif](giphy|RzKHvdYC3uds4)
