Homogenic used to be massively preferred. Vespertine was seen as kind of a let-down compared to Homogenic when it came out-- which is weird to see it so beloved now (I've loved it since I got my advance copy years ago lol) I still slightly prefer Homogenic due to its focus and brevity. Also, I feel like Bjork never got as abrasive as Pluto again.

Declare Independence?

shiba-on-parade

it's a great one, saw it live on the Volta tour, still not Pluto.

ponylauncher

I’ll take the opening 3 tracks of Homogenic over the entire Vespertine album

18AndresS

4

ponylauncher

Well that’s less impressive but sure. I’ll take all 10 over Vespertine

MootBrute2

Yes homogenic is my fav bjork album the vibes are immaculate

doublewide-dingo

I used to really prefer Homogenic, and now it's more 50/50 for me. Mark Bell's production makes Homogenic really stand out to me. It's so unique and chunky and warm. I really love the first few tracks on Vespertine, but I find the back half a little meandering, but yeah it's grown on me quite a lot.

Malk25

Considering Homogenic represented a more dramatic shift in style for Bjork, I think has that initial novelty that is really memorable. The thing that's interesting about Vespertine is that the production was done in a way that it would still be appreciated even if it was downloaded off Limewire or listened to with low quality speakers. Owing to that it has aged incredibly.

Consistent-Doubt964

Medulla all day everyday.

abacabr7

Honestly for me it goes Vespertine > Post > Homogenic. I love all three, but Post is just more "fun" to me. I guess it's like a GKMC vs TPAB kinda thing for me, if that makes sense

carpetedfloor

Post is the one Bjork album that I just cannot get into at all. I love all of her other work including Debut but can only enjoy 3 songs off of Post.

kathyeehaw

yesss it's one of my fav albums ever and definitely my favorite björk album

Whole_Carpenter7854

Nah.

nikonislolo

Vespertine is too beautiful. I absolutely adore that album.

FallenAerials

Yeah I certainly do, it's mindblowing to me

Dmbfantomas

I prefer Debut, Post, Homogenic, Medulla and Vulnicura over Vespertine. It’s good, but I find the others either catchier (Debut) or more musically interesting.

saintlycrown_501

Yep.

Cherry_Springer_

Homogenic is (usually) my favorite Bjork album, Vespertine is my 4th.

Legitimate_Tap_9852

Yeah probably

salmonerd202

Love both albums but I’m in mood for homogenic more.

condawg4746

They’re different. The highs on Homogenic are higher but Vespertine is the perfect tone piece. Vespertine feels like a self-contained world.

nzmuzak

It's probably due to familiarity, as I had a Homogenic cd as a teen so listened to it far more often than the other Bjork albums which I only had on MP3s later on. But Homogenic is by far my fave Bjork album. The momentum in Homogenic, where the album moves tonally, in energy and lyrically is genius. When I listen to Homogenic, I always want to finish it. If it is interrupted I always find a time later on to return to it. I don't get that with Vespertine.

ekb2023

Nah, Hidden Place and It's Not Up To You are higher peaks than anything on Homogenic.

dat_grue

Aside from a few tracks (I really enjoy Bachelorette), I don’t care much for either of them

doublewide-dingo

nice

dat_grue

Not expecting this to be a popular opinion on this subreddit, just let it fly anyways

doublewide-dingo

grip it and rip it

Odd_Television_6382

This is the same debate as In Rainbows vs OKC and Kid A. Everyone knows OKC and Kid A are better, but the indie gen Z decided to make IR their preferred one. Verspertine is just Bjork's In Rainbows
