haha oh hell yeah! just looked up the track list and all of the sexy pop followed by OK GO and then Hinder, Nickelback and to close it out?? Kenny mf'n Chesney 🤣🤣🤣
The first I ever bought myself was Disturbed - INDESTRUCTIBLE lol. Then I bought a Seether album. I understand why I liked Disturbed and I can still ironically enjoy it, but Seether.. I just want to claw my fucking ears off My first ever ever CD was from my sister, KoRn Follow The Leader 😎
hahaha hey, no shame! figured this thread would be good for people to get a chuckle out of the decisions we made as young music enjoyers. I also remember scamming timelife or some mail-in service for a Disturbed and Breaking Benjamin CD when I was like 13 using fake info. My parents were pretty pissed but when they saw I used info that couldn't get traced back to me it was pretty funny lmao
I don’t ever remember getting rid of it (obviously) but I’ve moved a few times since then and I have no idea where my few cassettes are. They were dying out around then and that’s when I started buying CD’s. It could have been the last single I bought on cassette.
Polyvinyl has a garage sale going on rn, I scooped up 8 CDs for $30 last week
[https://www.polyvinylrecords.com/store/garagesale?pvr=banner-464](https://www.polyvinylrecords.com/store/garagesale?pvr=banner-464)
classic, I remember asking my mom for the Mark Tom and Travis show before I could buy it myself and getting tons of second hand embarrassment as she read through the lyrics and then ultimately told me no 🤣
Oh god. I remember I was gifted Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by the Beatles. But I think it’s either Lilo & Stitch or Tarzan (1999) soundtrack(s) or Pop by NSYNC
shortly after I bought my first 2 CDs I was buying the whole RHCP discography piece by piece 🤣 By the Way is still one of my favorites! Also spun Hyprid Theory and Meteora more times than I can count lmao
— Smash Mouth: Astro Lounge
— Limp Bizkit: CSF & the Hot Dog Flavoured Water
— RATM: Battle of Los Angeles
— Sublime: Sublime
I remember buying these in the late 90s first!
Franz Ferdinand - S/T
Green Day - American Idiot
Good Charlotte - Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous (EDIT: forgot the album was called The Young and the Hopeless)
I was clearly a very cool kid.
My record collection is all over the place, tbh. But since those estou times, I am mostly on harder rock adjacent music and more backpack-style hip-hop.
Also, from around that time I have a O-Zone's debut LP (on cd). I will have to give that bad boy a spin sometime soon.
technically the first CD I bought was ..Oops I Did it Again but it was a prize in one of those "stop the light" vending machine games 🤣 Brittney was my first concert though!! LFO opened for her lmao
First MC was Black Sabbath’s self tilted, during a primary school trip in a store right beneath Warsaw’s Palace of Cultrue. It had an inverted cross in the booklet, and I kept freaking out my fairhearted catholic buds with it. All while Britney Spears kept playing on radio, because she had just debuted and was basically omnipresent then. First CDs were Reign in Blood, Peace Sells, and Rust In Peace in a French store that initially did not want sell the first one to me due to the Parental Advisory sticker. I vividly remember blasting Angel of Death on a discman, reading the lyrics and being aghast that someone could write something that evil. I should dig up those Megadeth CDs someday, because these were the original mixes, and I’m not going to purchase those 2004 atrocities.
That was about a quarter of a century ago, so I can't fully recall it, and generally speaking the landscape around the building was completely different. It felt like a part of the complex, although it likely wasn't - it was certainly located right at its feet, on its right side: you had the building's main entrance in front of you once you left the shop. The spot itself must've been gone for a long time: it was one of these small basements with a staircase and a chunky middle-aged metalhead behind the counter.
As a 4 year old, the first CD I remember being bought for me was the B-52s Meet the Flintstones single which I played to death in the car. As a 10 year old, it was Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory. After school when I was 11 I would go to my local CD music store and buy CDs with pocket money. Gorillaz Clint Eastwood was one that stood out. ‘Miss 2002.
Possibly Natalie Imbruglia - Left of the Middle
First CD single was Madonna - Drowned World/Substitute For Love
First CD my parents bought for he was ABBA Gold when I was 8
I collected several CDs in my childhood from various sources and birthdays and siblings. But if I remember correctly the first one that I picked up from the store and purchased independently was… *A Twist In My Story* by Secondhand Serenade 😂
First album I bought myself was Days of Future Passed by the Moody Blues. Went over to the record store after working at the farmers market, and bought it with my tip money.
Soundgarden - Superunknown
Anytime I got a good report card (B average or higher), my dad would give me $10. I went to my local Clover and bought it solely off the back of Spoonman (not Black Hole Sun) and played the ever living shit out of it.
I almost bought Blood Sugar Sex Magik, but figured my dad would be upset with the word "sex" in the title.
Astro Lounge has some good songs on it too. Their self-titled also has a really interesting song called "Dischechanted," but I think after their primary songwriter left they lost what made them interesting.
As for my first purchase, I got Nickelback's All The Right Reason's and Maroon 5's It Won't Be Soon Before Long when I was like 12 with Christmas money.
Does digital count?
If so An Empty Bliss Beyond This World - The Caretaker and Mirrorwork - Alastair Galrbaith.
If not The Great Annihilator - Swans and Igor - Tyler the Creator lol
I went to a FYE in the mall with birthday or graduation money. I bought Now that’s what I call music 2, Blink 182 Enema of The State, kid rock- Devil Without a Cause. Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears and Nsync were already purchased by parents lol.
The only physical media I still buy are kpop albums. My first was the Love Yourself Series by BTs I like all the inclusions. I'd buy vinyl but it is too expensive when shipping and all is accounted for personally,
Right Now - Atomic Kitten
Though looking at the timeline I think that must've been with my parents money. The one album I for sure know I used my own money was
All Reflections Drained - Xasthur
Now That’s What I Call Music! 23
haha oh hell yeah! just looked up the track list and all of the sexy pop followed by OK GO and then Hinder, Nickelback and to close it out?? Kenny mf'n Chesney 🤣🤣🤣

Either Shakira's Oral Fixacion Vol.2 or A7X's City of Evil. Wide range, I know, but still have them both and still bump them on occasion.

Sidebar: recent Varsovian transplant here. You mean there was a music store IN the PKiN?
