Having Gausman, B. Miller, & Pepiot this last month has been rough. It’s felt like every good start is followed by a bad but the wire is mostly streamers so gotta keep em.
I actually have both...I feel like if I drop Singer he could stick on waivers for a few days, Miller would get scooped up immediately. Singer has looked much better this season, he's pretty rock solid.
Singer’s got a 4.68 xERA and just a 22.8% whiff rate suggesting he should see all around regression. I’d avoid him. Bobby Miller has looked awful since he got hurt but remember the upside, what he did last year and how he pitched in that Cards game. Gotta hold tbh.
Yeah I’m in a tough position right now. My pitchers are
Nola
Sonny Gray
Luis Castillo
Verlander IL
Framber Valdez
Grayson Rodriguez
Hunter Brown
Paul Skenes
Clark Schmidt
Bobby Miller
Hitters
Salvy
Josh Naylor
Ryan McMahon
Devers
Correa
Spencer Steer
Jackson Merrill
Byron Buxton
Trea Turner
Kyle Tucker IL
Corey Seager DTD
James Woods
Debating who I should drop to pick up Singer
I had Bryan Woo but recently dropped him for James Woods. Spencer Steer appears to be the weakest OF for me
**\*UPDATE\* I'm tapping out for the night. As always, thanks for reading, engaging and all the suggestions. I'll check back in during the week in case there are any new names people want to enquire about. Until then, have a great start to the week.**
Hey everyone... Jamie (u/BB\_Jimbo) from RotoBaller here and I'm back at it with our thirteenth Cut List edition of the year. We've passed the halfway point of the season and with an abundance of starting pitchers on the shelf, this week features a handful of starters we need to look at.
Even if we're not dropping anyone, it's always fun to talk about cuts, whether or not we are actually ready to pull the trigger on certain players.
**So what names are you chopping this week, or at least thinking about banishing to the waiver wire?**
We of course can't cover every player that may be droppable, for every league size and format, but we wrote about a few that stood out. I'll be stopping by later today to answer any questions and you can always reach me on X (@Baseball\_Jimbo). Hope you enjoy and thanks for reading!
I was shopping George Springer hard last week and suddenly he can hit again. I’m still thinking I should move Springer for whatever I can get and maybe grab Jesse Winker.
Wouldn't be the worst idea to move Springer while his value is increasing. Depends on the return but I wouldn't be averse to it if you can upgrade elsewhere
Verdugo is .212/.567 over his last 30 with 1 HR and 0 SB. I can't drop him as long as the Yanks keep running him out there in that priceless RBI spot behind Soto and Judge, but if not for that I'd have dropped him weeks ago.
Hayes has featured a couple of times. I have no issue dropping him in shallower leagues. He seems to be overhyped every year and the glove is much better than the bat. Stott is on pace for 40 steals and \~80 RBI and \~80 runs so it's hard to make a case for him to be anything other than a hold. Soler also featured 3 weeks ago and is hitting .274/.378/.468 so appears to have turned the corner
It's a 12 team standard roto w AL/NL
Was definitely leaning towards Hayes... The other would be a drop of Soler vs picking up a Sal Frelick FA.
Does that change the calculus in your opinion?
Also, as others have said, I appreciate your doing this weekly.
Thanks for doing this every week u/BB\_Jimbo. Always nice to see the insights on what's happening under the hood.
I know it's asked a lot: Matt Olson
He's underperforming his xBA and xSLG, but not by enough that looks statistically significant. The lack of homers seems concerning (12? J-Ram just hit is 23rd and was taken behind him....). Is it worth shopping him or am I basically stuck with streaming a 1st base until he warms up again?
Seems the whole Braves lineup is stuck in some funk....
Appreciate the kind words. The problem is you'll be selling low on Olson and if he does heat up, there's no way you'd have been the beneficiary of the trade. I'll pencil him in for next week as there are some big names being requested atm
He's on pace to almost match last season, other than a drop in homers. But he's set to get more RBI and runs to offset that. He's one big week away from being on pace to top last season and has better expected numbers than his actuals. He's someone I'd hold
Young players who will have ups and downs still. Langford especially but he's hitting .275/.333/.422 since returning from the IL so is well worth holding
He's starting to reward fantasy managers' patience. There will be some bumps in the road as pitchers adjust but he's still someone I'd be holding on to and definitely picking up if he'd been dropped
He featured at the end of May as someone you just have to put up with all year. He's just had his best month of the season so maybe he can get going for real
I generally don't like trading for injured players in redraft as one setback and you might not get anything in return. But, I'd be fine if you need to take a chance or two to make up ground. Just make sure you have a bit of insight into a player's injury and expected timeline to return
He's featured twice already this season, including 3 weeks ago. At this point, he's still worth holding in daily lineup leagues when you can bench him against LHP. In weekly leagues, he's a more difficult player to hold
He's been a 2nd half player. Last year at this point he was batting .238 with a .713 OPS. After this point he batted .312 with a .927 OPS.
Have patience.
My take with Julio (as an owner of him this year) is that pitchers have challenged him to adjust his swing, and for some reason he has not adjusted. (Ego?) I’m still holding strong with these 💎🙌🏼 hoping he eventually gives in and makes an adjustment to his swing.
IIRC there was a post on the Mariners sub showing that his best pitches this year are inside vs inside pitches being his worst last year.
But by adjusting for that, he is a lot worse at the pitches he used to be good at
Been hearing this for three months now and the signs of a turnaround just aren't there.
Are you still going to be telling people to "have patience" when it's the fantasy playoffs and Julio is still sucking?
You can only say "have patience" to an extent before it just becomes gaslighting.
I've got both Rooker and Doyle, and it's a toss-up on who to start this coming week. Doyle's playing at home, but Rooker's hitting a bit better lately. Also, the A's have an off day, Monday, where Doyle's Rockies play all seven days. Haven't yet looked into opponents or pitching matchups. Leaning towards Rooker, but that extra day at Coors Field with Doyle...hmmmm.
With 7 games at Coors, if you don't play Doyle next week, it's probably worth moving on from him. Unless you are in need of homers only, Doyle would be my choice between the two
I'm not dropping Gausman but after this start today I just can't start him against good offenses moving forward, which is a real indictment of a guy you probably took in the third or fourth round.
No, but he was always going to see some regression. My big concern is his usage moving forward. The Yankees are going to want him in some capacity for the playoffs so I wonder if something happens after the ASB. He's already up to 85 IP after missing almost all of 2022 and 2023. Maybe a move to the bullpen or a phantom injury is incoming
Gausman has been a massive thorn in my side. No clue what to do bc we have a cap on starts and cap on acquisitions per week and it feels like I am waisting opportunities and losing games bc I have to start gausman. I wld trade him but now his value is shot.
Lowe is league dependent but I covered him last week so it might be of some use in your decision making; [https://www.rotoballer.com/the-cut-list-time-to-let-go-week-14-4/1387053](https://www.rotoballer.com/the-cut-list-time-to-let-go-week-14-4/1387053)
Bell is fine if there's a suitable replacement. The Marlins won't help him with RBI and runs. Murphy I'd probably still hold. He unsurprisingly struggled when first back from the injury but is hitting .324/.410/.559. The problem has been the Braves collectively have struggled but Murphy can at least put up decent numbers. Otherwise, streaming a catcher is fine but I don't think there'd be anyone on waivers I'd want to keep season-long over Murphy
Yes. I'm still somewhat new. A few years ago I took over a team in a dynasty league and I'm still not sure how to know when to cut the cord when it comes to players like Rizzo.
i hear ya. if you want to drop a screenshot of your team and waiver wire I can tell you what moves i'd consider making. i would def move on from Rizzo in a dynasty though.
If it's a true dynasty league, depends on the league depth. But in almost any other format, I'm fine dropping him. If you have an empty IL spot, you can just leave him on there until such time that you need it for someone else
He has a hit in something like 8 of his last 10 but the month long splits haven’t been good even with this “hot streak”. Surprised so many people are downvoting me like he’s been killing it lol. But I get the argument, Ks worry me a bit though
He's featured a couple of times already. He's still ranked 121st among all hitters in standard 5x5 roto (on Yahoo!) so it's difficult to drop him in standard-sized leagues.
I’m still conflicted about Garcia. That man has been so streaky this year
I’m holding, I’m in a points league and he’s a top 5 3B this year. He really just needs more plate discipline.
His chase rate is in the 85th percentile and his K rate is in the 81st. Any better and he'll be Kwan.
I dropped
I had him last year, streakiness seems to just be a part of his game. At least he's stealing bags somehow again.
Having Gausman, B. Miller, & Pepiot this last month has been rough. It’s felt like every good start is followed by a bad but the wire is mostly streamers so gotta keep em.
Miller good/bad? You mean 1 great start then 4 starts and 3 months of suck?
Better days are ahead for the trio
Bobby Miller 🤢
Ugh I was so excited getting him and Cole back the same week. Cole will be fine but I'm not so sure a out Miller.
I went heavy on pitching. Felt pretty smart, nabbing Bobby and Strider, not so great. Hallelujah for Ranger Suarez!
Looks like Ranger honeymoon might be over 😬
Worked by the Marlins ?! The Marlins .. he didn’t bring his a game with him this outing
I'll add him for next week
Would you drop Bobby Miller for Brady Singer?
I actually have both...I feel like if I drop Singer he could stick on waivers for a few days, Miller would get scooped up immediately. Singer has looked much better this season, he's pretty rock solid.
Singer’s got a 4.68 xERA and just a 22.8% whiff rate suggesting he should see all around regression. I’d avoid him. Bobby Miller has looked awful since he got hurt but remember the upside, what he did last year and how he pitched in that Cards game. Gotta hold tbh.

I've tried to trade Miller, unsuccessfully. I'm weary about dropping him for nothing.
Asking about Bo Bichette, again. FWIW his roster % drops by 1% weekly on Yahoo. This week he’s 93% owned (-1% last week).
I'll pencil him in for next week
I dropped Bo a while back but I was able to pick up Lindor. I guess it depends on who you can replace him with.
Correa on the wire
2 man league?

Had to let him go, took a flyer on Buxton.
One of Ke'bryan Hayes or Bryson Stott? Jorge Soler?
Hayes has featured a couple of times. I have no issue dropping him in shallower leagues. He seems to be overhyped every year and the glove is much better than the bat. Appreciate the kind words. I'd rather Soler than Frelick, unless you are set for power. Hayes just feels like someone much more easily replaceable.
Thanks for doing this every week u/BB\_Jimbo. Always nice to see the insights on what's happening under the hood. J-Ram does not have 28 HR
23, my fault for half paying attention while typing
Andres gimenez

Thoughts on Volpe and Langford?
Young players who will have ups and downs still. Langford especially but he's hitting .275/.333/.422 since returning from the IL so is well worth holding
Langford did good tonight.
He's starting to reward fantasy managers' patience. There will be some bumps in the road as pitchers adjust but he's still someone I'd be holding on to and definitely picking up if he'd been dropped
It’s getting harder and harder to justify rostering Thairo Estrada. Drop?
He is being included next week so will take a deeper look at him
Thanks! I’m banking on a better second half since it appears he was playing through injuries.
Sadly, injuries have been too regular for him
I've trusted Montgomery twice this season and got burned both times. I'm done with him.
I asked about him multiple times lately. Then he wins 4 of 6 and beats Philly so I keep him. Immediately blows up, gaaah
Bellinger can go too
Corbin Carroll. I don’t know why I haven’t dropped him yet. It’s been a detriment to my roster.
He featured at the end of May as someone you just have to put up with all year. He's just had his best month of the season so maybe he can get going for real
Would you try to trade Corbin for injured players like Mike Trout, Kyle Schwarber, or Mookie Betts?
I generally don't like trading for injured players in redraft as one setback and you might not get anything in return. But, I'd be fine if you need to take a chance or two to make up ground. Just make sure you have a bit of insight into a player's injury and expected timeline to return
Carroll and Bichette have been wasting roster spots for too long
I traded Carrol for Singer. It’s really a bad trade on my part but I’m tired of seeing him do nothing
Bichette will likely feature next week
Do Oneil Cruz next
He's featured twice already this season, including 3 weeks ago. At this point, he's still worth holding in daily lineup leagues when you can bench him against LHP. In weekly leagues, he's a more difficult player to hold
Yeah, Oneil next please
He's been cutable for a month now, especially in shallow leagues
Julio Rodriguez?
He's been a 2nd half player. Last year at this point he was batting .238 with a .713 OPS. After this point he batted .312 with a .927 OPS. Have patience.
My take with Julio (as an owner of him this year) is that pitchers have challenged him to adjust his swing, and for some reason he has not adjusted. (Ego?) I’m still holding strong with these 💎🙌🏼 hoping he eventually gives in and makes an adjustment to his swing.

Of course not, but the fact is he has a track record of being underwhelming up to this point in a season.
I wouldn't call two seasons a track record, maybe 3-4
He also doesn't have a track record of being terrible for an entire season.
Okay then man cut him or trade him
To be fair, the 2nd half of the season has only just begun.
You didn’t even read the response😂
my guy, what does “waiting months” have to do with the second half? Were those months not in the first half?
I suspect the people downvoting me don't own Julio, so of course they are clueless
You’re calling the people that didn’t draft Julio clueless while complaining about him doing what he’s done for two seasons.
He’s been on my bench for going on 3 weeks. Fuck jrod all my homies hate jrod
I'll be introducing him to the bench for the first time next week in lieu of my shiny new James Wood
Lfg
I've got both Rooker and Doyle, and it's a toss-up on who to start this coming week. Doyle's playing at home, but Rooker's hitting a bit better lately. Yeah, he'll live and die by his splitter this year. It'll be so hit-and-miss as to when it works or not
Someone dropped Josh Hader in my 14 man league for some reason. Thats an obvious pick up right? I scooped him instantly
100%
Arozarena
He's hitting. 276 with an .838 OPS and 3 steals last 30 days.
He featured twice already as a hold and is hitting .280/.421/.427 with a 154 wRC+ in June. He's certainly a hold still
Fair enough. Thank you
My pleasure
Was Luis Gill a flash in the pan ?
No, but he was always going to see some regression. My big concern is his usage moving forward. The Yankees are going to want him in some capacity for the playoffs so I wonder if something happens after the ASB. He's already up to 85 IP after missing almost all of 2022 and 2023. Maybe a move to the bullpen or a phantom injury is incoming
Morel? And if so any ideas for pickups? .
I'm holding. His expected numbers are considerably better than his actuals and he's still on course for 30 homers, 85+ RBI and 75+ runs
Gausman has been a massive thorn in my side. No clue what to do bc we have a cap on starts and cap on acquisitions per week and it feels like I am waisting opportunities and losing games bc I have to start gausman. I wld trade him but now his value is shot.
Might be best to just start him against lesser offenses and bench him against the good teams
Gausman didn’t do anything to move off the list today
Keep 1 for the rest of the year: Mitchell Parker, Aaron Civale or Zack Littell.
I'd rank them Littell, Civale, Parker. But it's close between them
Thinking about dropping yoshida for nathaniel lowe? thoughts?
Lowe is league dependent but I covered him last week so it might be of some use in your decision making; [https://www.rotoballer.com/the-cut-list-time-to-let-go-week-14-4/1387053](https://www.rotoballer.com/the-cut-list-time-to-let-go-week-14-4/1387053)

Said adios to Candelario this morning. Justified with the lingering tendonitis. ![gif](giphy|enrm3x92DlZy2u9og9)
Is Nolan Jones just useless to hang on to now? Every time I think he might figure it out he just keeps slumping.
I'd try to give him another week or 2. I generally like to see someone for a month after a lengthy injury to get a fuller view of what to expect
Rizzo?
Isn’t he hurt?
Yes. I'm still somewhat new. A few years ago I took over a team in a dynasty league and I'm still not sure how to know when to cut the cord when it comes to players like Rizzo.
Look at his roster percentage. If it’s under 50% and he’s injured you’re probably safe to drop them.
i hear ya. if you want to drop a screenshot of your team and waiver wire I can tell you what moves i'd consider making. i would def move on from Rizzo in a dynasty though.
Rizzo is a safe drop
If it's a true dynasty league, depends on the league depth. But in almost any other format, I'm fine dropping him. If you have an empty IL spot, you can just leave him on there until such time that you need it for someone else
Goldschmidt
Dropped May 13. No regrets.
Dropped him weeks ago and haven’t looked back.
People disagree but honestly think he’s worth keeping on your bench. His track record is too good to completely drop
He has a hit in something like 8 of his last 10 but the month long splits haven’t been good even with this “hot streak”. Surprised so many people are downvoting me like he’s been killing it lol. But I get the argument, Ks worry me a bit though

You need to internet better brother. Ublock origin on desktop, Firefox + Ublock on Android?, or Firefox Focus on iOS (android bros keep me honest)
