Extra meaning when your first experience with the song is at a funeral for family. Just gives such a good vibe singing it in his creepy calm demeanor as the helicopter plunges down into the uncharted wilderness
4. I absolutely love Pagan Min!
His story is he's a war hungry dictator, but the Golden path prove that they are kinda pieces of shit! Is pagan wrong for squashing their rebellion?
I see him as the lesser of 3 evils who loved Ajay enough to gift him a country after not seeing him for a lifetime.
All 3 possible leaders are/will be brutal, totalitarian dictators. Pagan isn't really the lesser of the 3 evils, non of them are really worse than the others.
Pagan is willing to hand over his kingdom, yes. But not to just anyone, not to a democratically elected leadership, for example. He's only willing to step down for someone he thinks of as his own blood (or close to it), essentially setting up the stage for Ajay to create a Dynasty, with Pagan being the father of it all.
Hence why we do get the choice to, should we desire it, to kill the leader we sided with as well. To leave Kyrat in its own hands rather than a charismatic psycho. Possibly with Ajay in the shadows, acting as a moderating influence.
Isn’t the guy rebel the best one? I remember the girl asked you to kill/sacrifice a bunch of innocent people or something like that. But I don’t remember the guy ever doing anything like that, and he specifically was against it.
He is a religious extremist, he makes Kyrat into a regressive theocracy. He marries Bhadra, the little girl, because she's religiously significant or smth after executing all of the girl leader's supporters in front of her.
Pagan Min got even better for me when I learned Troy Baker (Joel from Last of Us) plays his voice, and he got the role by staying in character and threatening an assistant who interrupted the casting
Hot take: 3 and 4 were as good as each other, and 4 might have even been better - a lot of people forget how the beginning of the second chapter of 3 kinda fell off apart from a few key moments
Honestly pagan has to be one of my favorite characters in general. Idk what it is but he's just awesome. He's funny, charismatic, and I can tell that deep down he does care. He's also very sarcastic and doesn't give two fucks either.
Five, because what makes it easily the best one is how everyone in the helicopter, apart from us and Burke, respectfully suggests that interfering with Eden's Gate is unwise due to their manpower and influence over Hope County.
In the cinematic intro, Mary, who owns the bar in Falls End, says, "They started buying up every farm for miles, then the radio station. Not long after that they even had the fucking cops". It is evident that Eden's Gate possesses significant influence even before the commencement of the game. The takeover of radio stations has effectively severed communication channels, hindering any attempts to seek external assistance.
Just started FC5 last night! My favorite part of the intro is how Joseph Seed was extremely calm when they tried to destroy the helicopter, which makes him even weirder as f-ck. Excited to continue playing.
FC New Dawn was a bit of a letdown for me, tbh it felt like Ubisoft was experimenting with a new game style and it didn’t really pan out. But it was fun to play New Dawn after FC5 and seeing old characters pop up and how the map has changed.
Just my opinion though, hopefully you find it fun
New Dawn just felt like a lazy cash grab to me. And enemies from that point on just became bullet sponges. 5 had the best gunplay, map, humor, and story IMO. Sometimes I'd just hide out and listen to the peggies say stupid shit lol
I just finished it yesterday. I’m usually a final fantasy or fallout fan but I was truly impressed with the opening and everything afterwards.
John was pretty damn messed up. Liked his character.. and by “like” I mean “hate”. Some Hannibal lecter shit going on there ..
Oh well.. on to 4 next?
5's is Oscar worthy. The others felt like game openings, good game openings, but still. 5 felt like the start of an HBO series. I still think it would make the best show out of the FC games.
My favorite part was when he was talking to Nancy on the radio. His calm demeanor and influence over someone you trusted is terrifying. It gave me the "no one can hear you scream." serial killer vibes.
That opening is always gonna be top tier to me. From those words to the ensuing chaos to the Dispatcher's response. Then you top that off with "No one is coming to save you." And just... OOF..... Chills.
Absolute favorite opening. I was also baked the first time I played and got REALLY into it. The legit panic I felt fleeing from the helicopter crash was insane.
Same lol. It's wild to me that this game was pre pandemic though, and now that I'm thinking about it maybe spending so much time doing nothing but playing games during the pandemic is what got me burnt out on video games. Far cry 5 is the last game I was able to actually get immersed in and fully enjoy, now I can stay entertained long enough to play almost any story game. The only game since then that's had me that entertained was RDR2.
I can dig it, not the immediate intro tho, the one where you are saved at first:
"You have the right to take my life. But just know, I will also take yours.......I'm Dennis!"
Hard to choose but Imma have to go with 5. Even though it’s tonally different from the actual game, the intro for 5 is like a damn horror game in the best ways possible.
Walking into the church as cultists hound you, cuffing Joseph as his family slowly come onto the screen watching you, to getting on the helicopter as cultists jump into the rotors while he sings, and lastly, as you wake up, you see all your teammates fight as they get kidnapped against their will.
Far Cry 3 and 4 are just as iconic. 3’s transition from the montage is smooth and 4’s is just hype with the soundtrack
It's so hard to choose, I wanna say 5 because of how nicely it sets up the game, I get fucking goosebumps Everytime the helicopter scene plays and you just hear amazing Grace in the background as Joseph tells you that there is no back up, no one is coming to help us, we're completely on our own.
3 is really good as well, it's iconic, but I also find it somewhat disappointing because of how it introduces us to Vaas, when I first played the game after a few years of not playing and seeing the intro it made me basically fall in love with Vaas but then we hardly see him for the rest of the game.
4 is pretty good, I love Pagan Min, he's my favorite character in that entire game, I don't know if I like more than 3, though.
That change when Nancy goes from concerned to Yes Father Praise be to you. Then the father saying "No one coming to save you." How can this not be number 1.
They all have their own style of shock factor. Although mine will always be fc4.
3: Yep, i am gonna die on this island. This guy is fucked in the head.
4: Holy shit! I gonna die. Wait, what? What's going on?
5: I don't get paid enough for this shit.
FarCry 5 intro still sends chills down my spine.
*Amazing Grace* choir as you're stepping through a heavily fortified compound covered in crosses, everyone is carrying a gun.
Interrupting Joseph's sermon and he switches up. "They will come. They will try to take from us, take our guns, take our freedom, take our faith?" As the armed congregation begins to stand up to the few marshalls. Just as it's about to pop off, Joseph says:
"We've known this moment will come. We have prepared for it. Go. God will not let Them take me. "
Then perp walking Joseph through his compound, the crowd getting more and more aggressive until [gunshot]
*God will not let you take me*
If FarCry 5 was a movie, it would have won every single award.
A lotta games just use pre-recorded music from wherever, and that's fine, but FC5 having in-universe hymns written is a great detail that still amazes me. And they did 2 sets!
I really liked 5 the best. Joseph seed freaked me out in a major way…. Those eyes were terrifying to look at, all calm, but there was knowledge of disaster in them. My favorite villain for sure. Pagan Min, was psycotic, and the dude from 6 was a typical South American dictator. The story was great though.
3.
I love the high flying fun promo style packaging video only to pull out to reveal the truth. Coupled with Vaas's monolouge makes it top tier.
"You see, the thing is, up there, you thought you had a chance way up in the fucking skies you thought you had your finger on the pussy trigger. But hermano, down here, down here...? You hit the ground..."
As biased as I am with 4 and how pagan min is absolutely the best villain here, farcry 5 is my favourite opening for how uneasy I first felt in the opening with cultists and that documentary.
5 I think 5 had the best intro, that whole Arresting turned wrong was a great set up to the World of Far cry 5. Far cry 6 is honestly a let down compared to 5. Just that whole doomsday cult in fascinating to me.
Vaas will always be the most iconic. But honestly the opening of Far Cry 5 was something special. That eerie song, the helicopter crashing down, and then Joseph saying "no one is coming to save you" or something like that. That always gives me so many chills! 🥶🥶
I can't pick but far cry is one the few games in existence where the whole series is good.I have played 1-6 and all deviations and they all are good non are trash despite some flaws and that is rare in anything movies or games.
I think from a narrative standpoint 3 and 5 do a great job of setting up the overarching conflict, and because of Michael Mando's performance, I can only give it to FC3
4!! Started with 3 but 4 is my absolute favourite. It inspired me to write my thesis on video games. I don’t know but fc4 has me on a chokehold I love pagan min!!
4 is the best opening by far!
Since 4, we haven't had a truly great over-the-top Bond-style villain like Pagan.
Stop. Shoot. Stop. Shoot. Do those words sound the same? 🤣
And I got blood on my fucking shoes.
FC4, partially because I like Pagan and his threatening hospitality, making you wait while he casually tortures a guy, but also cause I did support for 4 *IN THE FAR DISTANT PAST* and we had several people who called in to report confusion over getting to the credits after waiting like Pagan said for 15 minutes. Unless they had the best deadpan in existence, we reached the consensus that that these few weren't trolling.
Opening alone?
Easily 4.
The other two are great, but don't really flesh out until later in the games.
Pagan really establishes himself right off the bat, and the opening is probably his best scene. Problem is, he's not really present enough in the rest of the game. He kind of has the opposite problem in that he's underused in the rest of the game.
5
Having the fear of not knowing what this crazy guy is gonna do to you and your crew then see the helicopter fall and you try to hide and run.
Perfect also 3 is good but 5 is far more better and longer
Ok guys I need advice and I just came across this on /r/all: which farcry game should I play on my ps5? I've played the first two back when they first came out.
“I fly like paper, get high like planes, if you catch me at the border I’ve got visas in my name. If you come around here, I make ‘em all day.
All I wanna do is (BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!)
And- (Click) (cha-ching!)
And take your money!”
I haven’t played it but I’d say it’s the one where you can beat the game by simply waiting for the dude to come back from his phone call lmfao. it’s probably the most realistic ending I’ve seen in a game because most people in those situations irl especially alone would contemplate for too long on what to do and the dude would get back from his phone call like alright let’s proceed.
Easily 5. The way it eases you into the story while also throwing you in really fast is super well done. And how could you not love the creepy rendition of amazing grace as everything goes to shit?
Technically, Blood Dragon is a part of 3, so my vote goes to Blood Dragon.
That whole tutorial section at the beginning is so hilarious. Plus, the intro video is amazingly cheesy in the best way possible.
5th defiantly it shows how quickly and how fast the seeds took over hope, the statue of Joseph emphasizes it even more, and just the plot of a Christian cult family taking over a county in rural Montana is also cool lol
Having lived in the PNW and dealt with my fair share of crazy Christo-fascists or sovereign citizens…5 for sure. One of THE BEST games I’ve ever played maybe because it felt more possible but also I just love Montana.
I will always love the rendition of Amazing Grace from 5’s intro
Probably on my tenth NG+ at this point and that opening gives me such an ominous "oh shit" feeling even still.
Gives you that bioshock infinite feel
Extra meaning when your first experience with the song is at a funeral for family. Just gives such a good vibe singing it in his creepy calm demeanor as the helicopter plunges down into the uncharted wilderness
Loved this game. Hated the forced mission though
Should I stay or should I go! 🎶
I said STOP the bus. Not SHOOT the bus.
It got out of control
You had 🔪 One fucking 🔪 Job 🔪 And you couldn't 🔪 Fucking 🔪 Do that! 🔪
And I got blood on my fucking shoes…
More like ✒️
A pen in the hands of Pagan Min is truly mightier than the sword.
Not as mighty as the fork though 🤭
From your diaphragm!!!!!!😁
More like 🖊️
SMILE FOR THE CAMERA!
✒️🩸
Im very particular with my words. Stop. Shoot. Stop . Shoot
Love the foreshadowing to the alternate ending with the song!
Damn I didn’t even realize that, god I love the farcry devs
I chose Pagan Min cause he looks fabulous, thats my political alignment.
Man has style
Lol i used to have that haircut way before the game came out. Am i Pagan Min?
Nearly every British teenager had that haircut in 2014 it's all good 🤣
I specifically said "Stop" the bus, not "Shoot" the bus
That part made it the best video game opening EVER!
All 3 possible leaders are/will be brutal, totalitarian dictators. Pagan isn't really the lesser of the 3 evils, non of them are really worse than the others. Have you played his dlc in FC6?
I did yea it was really fun
5 intro is generally creepy you would think it's an intro to a horror game.
Especially when they start to crawl over the helicopter
It always fucks me up how one of the cultists yeets themself into the helicopter blades to ground it
That's that moment when you're thinking to yourself, "Oh these people are *fucked in the head* fucked in the head"
5 was definitely the most tense and best acted
Played it first during October, loved every minute of it.
Five, because what makes it easily the best one is how everyone in the helicopter, apart from us and Burke, respectfully suggests that interfering with Eden's Gate is unwise due to their manpower and influence over Hope County. The ending is probably the best of the Farcry games. I just finished Farcry Primal and I'm staring Farcry New Dawn later when it arrives in the mail
I've only played 1-4, and Blood Dragon. I could play all FC games any time soon! FC3 is easily my top 3 of all time!
3 had solid action but terrible driving 🚗
FC New Dawn was a bit of a letdown for me, tbh it felt like Ubisoft was experimenting with a new game style and it didn’t really pan out. But it was fun to play New Dawn after FC5 and seeing old characters pop up and how the map has changed. Just my opinion though, hopefully you find it fun
New Dawn just felt like a lazy cash grab to me. And enemies from that point on just became bullet sponges. 5 had the best gunplay, map, humor, and story IMO. Sometimes I'd just hide out and listen to the peggies say stupid shit lol
I envy your discoveries. Enjoy the game and take your time!

Byrk's delivery of "God will not let you take me" legitimately gave me chills.
And the soundtrack 🤌
Hell yeah. I sometimes just sit in the main menu and vibe with the theme song for a minute before playing.
Glad I’m not the only one who does that! Probably one of the only games where I still listen to the soundtrack outside of playing the game.
There's a girl on YT that did the "we will rise again" song with her guitar, amazing. By far the best music in any of the FC games fo sho
My favorite part was when he was talking to Nancy on the radio. His calm demeanor and influence over someone you trusted is terrifying. It gave me the "no one can hear you scream." serial killer vibes.
Legit giving me flash backs to when far cry 5 launched, that opening was intense
"Yes father, praise be to you"
Fucking NANCY.
That opening is always gonna be top tier to me. From those words to the ensuing chaos to the Dispatcher's response. Then you top that off with "No one is coming to save you." And just... OOF..... Chills.

Such a good opening. I love the whole theme of that game. Only thing that lets it down for me is no main character voice.
I literally played it for the first time and got the secret ending because I legitimately felt like I was about to get shot on site
Fc3
Like a beer commercial that segues into a nightmare. It does a great job showing how intolerable those affluenza kids are before falling into hell.
I can dig it, not the immediate intro tho, the one where you are saved at first: "You have the right to take my life. But just know, I will also take yours.......I'm Dennis!"

4
Far Cry 5 has one of the best intros of any game I have played in a few years easily. I don’t get to play a ton of games these days, but still.
Close second would be D-Day opening from Medal of Honor
They all have their own style of shock factor. Although mine will always be fc4. 3: Yep, i am gonna die on this island. This guy is fucked in the head. 4: Holy shit! I gonna die. Wait, what? What's going on? 5: I don't get paid enough for this shit.
far cry 3 one has something really cool about it
5 definitely
No contest
FarCry 5 intro still sends chills down my spine. *Amazing Grace* choir as you're stepping through a heavily fortified compound covered in crosses, everyone is carrying a gun. Interrupting Joseph's sermon and he switches up. "They will come. They will try to take from us, take our guns, take our freedom, take our faith?" Far Cry 4
4 it gets straight into action
"I'm very particular with my words"
No one is coming to save us...
5 is goated
Far cry 4 opening perfectly encapsulates that you are in for an adventure in a third world dictatorship country.
5 is a gd masterpiece and playing out in real life.
As biased as I am with 4 and how pagan min is absolutely the best villain here, farcry 5 is my favourite opening for how uneasy I first felt in the opening with cultists and that documentary.
Id say Far Cry 5, it goes from being so ambient to really tense when Joseph tells the player he won’t be allowed to be taken.
I think 5 is Undeniably the best, but 4s is so Special to me
Stop Shoot Stop Shoot
5
5
5 is one of the best game intros in history. I will never forget its ambiance
Far Cry 4, introduces how much of a maniac Pagan is and his relationship with Ajay within seconds of game opening
5 I think 5 had the best intro, that whole Arresting turned wrong was a great set up to the World of Far cry 5. Far cry 6 is honestly a let down compared to 5. Just that whole doomsday cult in fascinating to me.
4. I can win the game simply by sitting at a table? Love that twist.
4 for me, because the context of everything changes once you’ve beaten it.
3 has something special on it
fuck man all of them
It’s got to be Pagan.
5 has an incredible opening. I also really like 4s
The first time I played 4, and The Clash kicked in, I literally screamed a "yeeeeehaw"! So yeah, 4 has THE BEST opening! 😂
Vaas will always be the most iconic. But honestly the opening of Far Cry 5 was something special. That eerie song, the helicopter crashing down, and then Joseph saying "no one is coming to save you" or something like that. That always gives me so many chills! 🥶🥶
5 no contest.
5 then 3 then 4 I would rank 4 higher if we didn’t play as the golden path and actually joined pagan min
You can just not leave the table for an immediate alternate ending.
But you can’t actually fight the golden path in that ending
Sadly no. Can’t you kill both leaders?
5, the only comment I have though is where does Hudson’s shotgun when you come out of the church?!
I haven't played 4 yet, so between Vaas and Joseph seed I say Joseph Seed.
I like number 4. It feels very action-ey and I feel pumped right after.
They're all amazing but I have to say 4 takes the cake
You and I are gonna, tear shit apart.
Pagan min my king. "I said STOP the bus, not SHOOT the bus, do those words sound the same?"
I can't pick but far cry is one the few games in existence where the whole series is good.I have played 1-6 and all deviations and they all are good non are trash despite some flaws and that is rare in anything movies or games.
5 seemed like the opening scene in a movie
The opening to 5 is peak
I think from a narrative standpoint 3 and 5 do a great job of setting up the overarching conflict, and because of Michael Mando's performance, I can only give it to FC3
4!! Started with 3 but 4 is my absolute favourite. It inspired me to write my thesis on video games. I don’t know but fc4 has me on a chokehold I love pagan min!!
4 for Pagan, 5 because it 100% sold me on the whole "you're in the dark and no one's coming to save you" thing.
4 all the way!
4. I love Pagan a tad more than Vaas and the whole setting is better than 5s.
FC4's opening made me feel things
Far Cry 4
Far cry 4
4 is the best opening by far! Since 4, we haven't had a truly great over-the-top Bond-style villain like Pagan. Stop. Shoot. Stop. Shoot. Do those words sound the same? 🤣 And I got blood on my fucking shoes.
I like 3's opening. It's a nice fucking opening
4 by a lot
4 was the best
This one is difficult. They're all so great.
4 3 5
Far Cry 5 all day, every day
4 can’t be beat
4
FAR CRY 5 IS THE BEST FAR CRY IN EVERY WAY FUCKING FIGHT ME
"You.... and I...... are gunna FUCK SHIT UP!"
Fc5 was amazing
"STOP, the bus. Not SHOOT the bus. Stop. Shoot. STOP. Shoot." 4
Tie between 4 and 5. 5 shows the cult's loyalty, 4 shows the brutality and high society of Pagan.
Definitely 3 or 4
For me four is the most badass and five is the most ominous. Haven’t played three.
Even though i'm a huge far cry 3 fan, i gotta say 5 has the best opening.
5. But I absolutely love that cinematic intro to 6. Hate the game but that intro is fantastic.
3 was great at its time. I like 5s opening better. It felt like a damn cult movie cinematic. Pagan was the best in 4th trailer.

I hate when things get out of control 🖋
5s my fav game but 3 has to take that crown
fc3
3. Vaas is justy favorite character of all time. It really made me passionately hate him right from the start.
Do you know the definition of insanity.?
3 is the most iconic. 4 is the best in-game opening. 5 is the most cinematic
Hate any far cry you want, but man are the openings absolute bangers
4 and 5
Haven't played 4 yet so I go with 3
The opening from 3 is the best. Vaas was such a good character they put him in breaking bad.
I'd definitely say 5, but when I played 3 for the first time the opening had me on the edge of my seat
FC3 music scenery and vibe. And Vaas of course
"Should I stay, or should I go?"
RUN FOREST RUN
3 literally changed the Farcry franchise forever (see what I did there unintentionally). Vaas is an absolute legend.
3 started off fast. Got me hooked from there been loving the series ever since
All have good intros, but my favorite is FC3 I felt like any moment I would die they way the conversation was going.
3 & 5 set the stakes of a terrifying 1 man mission 4 lets you know you're in for a fun time
Ok guys I need advice and I just came across this on /r/all: which farcry game should I play on my ps5? I've played the first two back when they first came out.
"This is a nice fucking phone!" said with enthusiasm. It might not be the best, but it's my favorite.
“I fly like paper, get high like planes, if you catch me at the border I’ve got visas in my name. If you come around here, I make ‘em all day. All I wanna do is (BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!) And- (Click) (cha-ching!) And take your money!”
5, 3, and then 4 is a distant last.
I like the Pagan Minh intro, but as villains go throughout the game series, Vaas is definetely the one we get to know the most yet still want more.
They’re all my favorite.
3 easily the helicopter crash trope of 5 ruins it for me
5. Always sends chills down my spine
FC3, I remember being a little kid screaming at the top of my lungs as Vaas tells you to start running through the jungle
3 makes me think "You're finally awake..." I like 4 best. The weirdest RomCom meet-cute in history.
First vaas Just good Shit Second father after that Intro i Had an earworm from amazing graze Third BC i never Played 4 Well Pagan min
I've got to start playing 4 today. The more I see the more I want to.
Only have played five but I think the beginning is phenomenal and it always has a place on my favorite game intros
Easily 5. The way it eases you into the story while also throwing you in really fast is super well done. And how could you not love the creepy rendition of amazing grace as everything goes to shit?
Not a damn one since I can't skip them on the PS!
5
Technically, Blood Dragon is a part of 3, so my vote goes to Blood Dragon. That whole tutorial section at the beginning is so hilarious. Plus, the intro video is amazingly cheesy in the best way possible.
Loved them all but 3 set the bar for me. Had it not been so good the others wouldn't have been great either.
Vaas. Nuff said.
Easily Far Cry 5. The intro really gives you goosebumps..
3 and 4 are tied for me. And theyre both my favorite villains
5th defiantly it shows how quickly and how fast the seeds took over hope, the statue of Joseph emphasizes it even more, and just the plot of a Christian cult family taking over a county in rural Montana is also cool lol
FC3, all day and all night
Having lived in the PNW and dealt with my fair share of crazy Christo-fascists or sovereign citizens…5 for sure. One of THE BEST games I’ve ever played maybe because it felt more possible but also I just love Montana.
Far Cry 3. Easy.
