"I distinctly remember saying STOP the bus, yes stop the bus. Not SHOOT the bus. I'm very particular with my words. STOP... SHOOT STOP...SHOOT. Do those words sound the same? - Pagan Min
I couldnt buy into to either of their stories bc they both sucked. One wanted child slaves and drugs while the other was trying to marry kids. Why am i not pagan mins side?
"Fuck, that is crazy. ....Waaaaay up there in the sky, you thought you had your finger on the pussy trigger. But hermano; down here, down here you hit the ground"
3 is hands down the best intro imo.
I think there were several climbing on it and one or two went in the main rotor first. I guarantee some were on the tail. But they very quickly hit the treetops because they hadn’t make it up very high yet and I think that attributed to the tumble. Wreckage was surprisingly still tightly grouped
I have played a lot of video games and I have always held Far Cry 5 was my favorite intro of all time. I felt so engaged and I remember feeling the “oh crap this is serious” moment when the cultists started to attack.
Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation (now with his own channel called Second Wind) had an article where he explained why he thought Jason Brody was a good character and the intro was an important part of it. You start as this scared, inexperienced California bro being led around by his headstrong, former Army brother who teaches him the basics while being a badass and doing things like effortlessly killing a man with a throwing knife before they can get spotted while Jason panics. I imagine in Grant's shoes the game would have played out more like Ajay in Far Cry 4, with him being less affected by the violence with his Army experience and not as interested in being used by the Rakyat in favor of his goal of saving his friends.
Then he just dies instantly while Jason is left to fend for himself and learn the harsh realities of the jungle and how even the strongest can die. In a movie it could have been a bait and switch moment where Grant would be thought of as the main character before switching to Jason, but of course in the game we are playing as Jason the whole way through. It just does a great job establishing who Jason is, who he has to become, and what the stakes are for him.
I kind of wish 3 had more survival elements from 2 to really hone in on how out of his depth Jason is from the intro and maybe have him be less capable from the beginning, although the world is pretty hostile its much more of a playground once you get a few levels in (which in fairness is part of Jason's arc as he learns to love the violence and becomes desensitized to it).
Reminds me of the movie Feast (not for the squeamish) where the characters are introduced all title card & stats style
>!the badass hero introduced as such is ripped apart like 30 seconds later!<
>It just does a great job establishing who Jason is, who he has to become, and what the stakes are for him.
Which is vital for any engaging narrative.
I'm pitching a novel I wrote to agents at the moment, and queries are all about establishing the character, what they want, and what their stakes are.
And the narrative and character writing for Far Cry 3 really excels in pitching this within the first hour of gameplay, which is incredible for what is, mostly, at the end of the day, a silly first-person shooter.
My favorite Far Cry is 4, but I have to give it to 3 for the best intro.
The shift in atmosphere is fucking perfect, "we are not in Kansas anymore boys"
“We are gonna tear shit up”
*bag goes over your head
“SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO!”
FC4 was my first far cry and because of that it’s my absolute fav of the series I also can’t deny it has the best most refined gameplay of the series as well
4 < 3 < 5 based on intensity. 3's has a much more jarring transition giving the player a very strong and lasting "oh shit" moment but 5 escalates the tension very smoothly, the moment where shit hits the fan is expected but hits hard nonetheless
Honestly gonna give it to 3. It's the entry that got me into the series and it was in no small part due to the intro. Immediately grabbed me and never let go.
Oh 3 hands down. Vas as a character led to a very successful youtube channel where the voice actor played the role live. It's bone chilling. Going from such a positive exspensive to vas is something I won't forget.
Far Cry 4 for me. Farcry 4 was the first game in the series I played, and I'll always remember being 14-15 and seeing Pagan Min for the first time. Watching his goons stop the bus and pull you off and interrupting the peaceful ride was awesome. Seeing his compound and escaping it then later breaking back into was the perfect start for me. Being able to see how he lived contracted with the simple lives of the Golden Path was great
5 had the most tension. 3 was just *perfection.* first FC game to have a full, fleshed out intro like that. MIA on the soundtrack, vacation goes to hell really quick. So damned good.
Definitely 5. 4 to me felt forced. Like Pagan Min was just trying too hard to seem like the care free crazy Villain. 3 is a close second cause of Vaas's dialogue.
5, it leaves you in the middle of nowhere, being chased, with no map or guidance. It really portrays the feeling of confusion and disorientation after surviving a helicopter crash.
I’m not even gonna lie, all the intros to all 3 games are special in their own way. The way Vass acts in Far Cry 3 after showing Jason the clip of all of his friends sets the tone for a psychopath. Far Cry 4, The way pagan acts when he takes us in (Albeit a little strange with the whole stabbing his own man in the throat and tasting Ajays moms ashes) but he felt somewhat welcoming and even helps you out. I personally think he’s interesting and if he got more screen time he’d probably be my favorite but MAN Far Cry 5 is just absolutely fantastic. The feeling of being cut off completely even though help isn’t technically far lore wise, the dedication to the cult, the second Joseph gets on the radio and says “Everything is fine” you truly feel fucked.
farcry 3 is a obvious favorite but farcry 2, riding in the back of the truck as your driver tells you the dangers of malaria and wildfires just sets such a tone that hasn’t been replicated for me yet
I distinctly remember saying, "Stop the bus." Not "shoot the bus." "*Stop* the bus." I'm very particular with my words. "Stop." "Shoot." "Stop." "Shoot." Do those words sound the same?
-But it got out of control...
I'm sorry, I didn't hear you. What did you say?
-It got out of control.
"Got out of control." I hate when things get out of control.
[stabs the soldier with a pen, throws him to the ground and continues stabbing him]
You had one fucking job and you couldn't fucking do that! And I got blood all over my fucking shoes!
Something about Pagan Min and his flippant attitude towards murdering his own soldiers in front of you. Vaas was insane and unpredictable, Min was calculated and scarier, in my opinion. He doesn't want to murder his soldier because he's some psycho out for blood. He does it simply to prove a point. He chooses his words carefully, and even the smallest divergence from what he orders is a death sentence. Even if it's inconvenient for him and ruins his shoes, something I doubt vaas would even care about.
I think they're all the best for different reasons. Pagan's introduces a new dynamic with a protag and antag that gets me excited, Far Cry 5 offers a sense of dread and suspense for what's come and sets the scene for who you're dealing with, and Far Cry 3 immediately humanizes the characters and shows just how fast their life went from celebrating to suffering.
For totally biased and nostalgic reasons; I pick 3.
But from a logical perspective, even though I didn't like the game at all, Far Cry 5.
Definitely FC3 had the BEST intro. Fav intro as well as many others is 4, I just feel so fond of Pagan Min. He’s such a good guy. & ofc 5 is the best intro if we going by drama & eerily.
Dead islands intro I really liked. WHO DO YOU VODOO BI\*CH
edit: I realize I'm posting in a farcry subreddit. I enjoyed 5 as it was a very intense scene. Walking through a crowd of people waiting to beat you to death, out numbered at least 5 to 1, walking in to arrest the leader of their salvation, just gave me the creeps.
Far Cry 2… Ok, I am only partially joking. It could have been better, but I loved the way of introducing the world and the mechanics.
Seriously though, FC3 had the best intro.
3. The vacation clips aren't really that good, but after those...
I just love Vaas's monologues, and his first one is my favorite (after "the definition of insanity" of course)
FC3 has the best because it gives a more like realistic type feel if we were all in the jungle and didn’t know how to survive. FC4 has a solid intro I just didn’t like the game itself. FC5 immerses you into a world where the chaos around you gets more fucked up as you go.
Yo! Six’s intro was great too! You feel an immediate connection with all those people and what you go through with the boat and island landing was heavy has hell.
That said, they’re all good from 3-6. They’re also all quite different. So that’s cool too.
"I distinctly remember saying STOP the bus, yes stop the bus. Not SHOOT the bus. I'm very particular with my words. STOP... SHOOT STOP...SHOOT. Do those words sound the same? - Pagan Min
But it got out of control.
I'm sorry I didn't hear you. What did you say?
It …got out of control
Got out of control? I HATE WHEN THINGS GOT OUT OF CONTROL! 🖊🩸 🖊🩸 🖊🩸 🖊🩸
& I got my blood on my fcking, shoes..
at least there’s a silver lining….
You didn't completely fuck it up... Get up boy. I'd recognize those eyes anywhere...
i’m so sorry about this. this was was supposed to be…
Well not this.
YOU HAD ONE FUCKING JOB AND YOU COULDNT FUCKING DO THAT...
Got out of control? I hate when things get out of control
Now I got blood all over my fucking shoes
"You had one fucking job and you couldn't fucking do that!"
Easily the best farcry villain in my opinion
Villain? Stop this slander. Antagonist at best.
That’s fair haha, he really is the best written character I feel like
Pagan is awesome, but I still think Vaas is a better villain.
Vaas was a villain. Pagan was...a Bro, at least until you continuously feck up his plans and power structures.
I’ll never forgive farcry 4 for having pagan min as the villian but wasting 99% of the story on the dumbasses that are sabal and amita
THIS!
But hermano; down here, down here you hit the ground" 3 is hands down the best intro imo.
The pause & that stare after "down here" were so perfect, just like those sudden changes in emotions before
Vaas is probably my favorite video game antagonist. Such a shame he wasn't more of the focus.
Hands down Vaas paved the way for the future iconic villians hes the og og
Iconic villain shit
Far Cry 4, you get Crab Rangoon :)
Only if you're patient
^(But you get Crab Rangoon.)
Good point
"Don't move, I'll be.....right back".
I'm a good listener.
Please, enjoy the crab rangoon
Far Cry 5 intro is really intense but long. For drama, FC5 is the #1.
Absolutely, the moment it all goes to hell the moment you take Joseph out of the church, its just really escalating and adrenaline pumping
I’m really partial to 5’s intro. Walking through the compound to arrest Joseph and then watching all the chaos ensue was so sick.
Literally had goosebumps after the helicopter crash and Joseph says his speech and shouts "BEGIN THE REAPING!
God won't let you take me
Literally chills
& the police dispatcher recognizes Joseph’s voice and says, Yes, Father. I was thinking - aww fuck
FUCKING NANCY!!
It was at that moment i came to realize just how fucked they all were
Him singing Amazing Grace while his followers throw themselves into helicopter blades to make it crash was fucking crazy
Dude jumped into the main rotors, then the helicopter came down as if it was the tail rotor that was out 😂
I think there were several climbing on it and one or two went in the main rotor first. I guarantee some were on the tail. But they very quickly hit the treetops because they hadn’t make it up very high yet and I think that attributed to the tumble. Wreckage was surprisingly still tightly grouped
I don’t remember him singing until after you wake from the crash. Ask me how many times I’ve played FC5. *Edited*
How many ?
WAY too many. 😃 And I will play it again, and again….and again.
Fr the tension in the scene is perfect and it's the best scene in the game imo.
“No one is coming to save you.”
I have played a lot of video games and I have always held Far Cry 5 was my favorite intro of all time. I felt so engaged and I remember feeling the “oh crap this is serious” moment when the cultists started to attack.
Yea the escape is pretty fkn dope.
Far Cry 3, if you count the Vaas monologue. That MIA soundtrack is also perfect.
Farcry 3 has one of the best intros out of any video game
I completely agree the beginning of far cry 3 really captures that feeling of being alone, inexperienced and outnumbered in dangerous territory.
Reminds me of the movie Feast (not for the squeamish) where the characters are introduced all title card & stats style >!the badass hero introduced as such is ripped apart like 30 seconds later!<
Name: The Hero Occupation: Kicking ass Life expectancy: Pretty fucking good *dies 30s later*
>It just does a great job establishing who Jason is, who he has to become, and what the stakes are for him. Which is vital for any engaging narrative. I'm pitching a novel I wrote to agents at the moment, and queries are all about establishing the character, what they want, and what their stakes are. RUN FORREST RUN
Agreed, totally cinematic and epic
No intro immersed me like this one, closest second is maybe skyrim
Why aren’t you laughing now Jason? Have I failed to entertain you? Lol
"Yeah, service here is terrible"
3 for the best intro, 4 for the realistic intro and 5 for the scary or intense intro.
This is the correct answer.
What would you say for 6
We don't talk about 6... Edit: Outside of Giancarlo Esposito's role in it.
My favorite Far Cry is 4, but I have to give it to 3 for the best intro. The shift in atmosphere is fucking perfect, "we are not in Kansas anymore boys"
“We are gonna tear shit up” *bag goes over your head “SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO!” FC4 was my first far cry and because of that it’s my absolute fav of the series I also can’t deny it has the best most refined gameplay of the series as well
Far Cry 4 is the better version of 3. More guns, simplified skill trees, and Shanath Arena. Nuff said
Do people actually like the arena? I find it so boring
I enjoyed it. My friend and I used to play a drinking game where you took a sip when you win and finished the glass when you lost. It was a good time.
I love it, I always play the Endless mode
Agreed
4 < 3 < 5 based on intensity. 3's has a much more jarring transition giving the player a very strong and lasting "oh shit" moment but 5 escalates the tension very smoothly, the moment where shit hits the fan is expected but hits hard nonetheless
Can't lie. I dislike 5, but I do think it has the best intro. Really sucks you in lol.
5s intro is awesome and sucks you in the first time, and every time after you mash B to try and skip
That is super fair 😂
Honestly gonna give it to 3. It's the entry that got me into the series and it was in no small part due to the intro. Immediately grabbed me and never let go.
I FLY LIKE PAPER GET HIGH LIKE PLANES
Far cry 5 with all the chaos at and how the peggies looked at you, it made me nervous asf and when all hell breaks loose when you arrest Joseph
Far Cry Primal
If we can choose between these 3 games then all of them are equally great.
3 it has an amazing song at the start of the game Song name: paper airplanes
i don't wanna be that guy but the song is called paper planes
Farcry 5 by far
"god will not let you take me"
Oh 3 hands down. Vas as a character led to a very successful youtube channel where the voice actor played the role live. It's bone chilling. Going from such a positive exspensive to vas is something I won't forget.
For me 5, i dont know why but its my favorite farcry game hahaha
Hard to choose but 3. That tone shift is still one of best I've experienced.
Being able to see how he lived contracted with the simple lives of the Golden Path was great
3, 5 then 4... Vaas was too good
Think you got 5 and 3 messed up.
fc3
Far cry 5 for sure
all of them. yes
I love 5 but even I have to admit 3s opening is fun and exciting.
5, most engaging and insane
The one that serves you world class crab rangoon in a silver platter in a dining room with balcony view in your dad's palace
Definitely 5. 4 is my favorite game till now but 5 is still great and has the best intro imo
Far Cry 5
5,3,4
FC4 has my favourite intro out of these 3, but 5 is the best
Far cry 3 has the best intro in the sense of “woohoo im pumped up” but 5 has the best intro for being intrigued in the story
Yeah, the tension and worldbuilding 5 does in its intro is FANTASTIC. I like 3's, but 5's does SO MUCH.
Far Cry 2 gives you malaria
"Man with malaria destabilizes a small African country, more at 6"
2
Far cry 1 because it’s short
6
For me, Far Cry 3 is special because I really enjoyed the process of transitioning from the camera to real life.
Farcry 3
Far cry 3 and the best everything lowkey
RUN, FORREST, RUN! By far the best intro of any game for me.
It depends on which far cry u played at first
I mean, not really. My favorite is 4 including the intro but I started with the first far cry games
Five
5 had the most tension. 3 was just *perfection.* first FC game to have a full, fleshed out intro like that. MIA on the soundtrack, vacation goes to hell really quick. So damned good.
Far Cry 4's was badass
FC3, sucks you right into wonderland madness through contrast and one of the great Vaas monologues. Down here, you hit the ground…
Definitely 5. 4 to me felt forced. Like Pagan Min was just trying too hard to seem like the care free crazy Villain. 3 is a close second cause of Vaas's dialogue.
Idk, 3 is so classic and nostalgia
Fc2. Beer? We drink beer.
5. If you chose any other one your lying to yourself.
Far Cry 3 for me !
Far cry 5s intro cutscene was just sooo good
5 easily
5, it leaves you in the middle of nowhere, being chased, with no map or guidance. It really portrays the feeling of confusion and disorientation after surviving a helicopter crash.
5. Always get chills every time i see it and i really wish fog was a naturally occurring thing in 5.
Imo 5, the "can't trust anyone" feeling was real
5
I'd say 4 only because of the secret ending but far cry 3 is iconic and 5 is pretty haunting so all in all.. I'll still have to go with 4.
far cry 5
Absolutely NOT 5
Not farcry 6 that’s for sure
Why would you put a choice such as this upon me.
farcry 3 is a obvious favorite but farcry 2, riding in the back of the truck as your driver tells you the dangers of malaria and wildfires just sets such a tone that hasn’t been replicated for me yet
3s about makes me tear up from nostalgia alone
Far cry 2 Oh wait That's not on the list Uhhhh 3
Far cry 3 it's a iconic but far cry 5, the moment when Joseph takes the radio and shows how spread it's his influence, that was terrifying.
5
I really like FC4's intro. Pagan min had such a strong first impression making me laugh yet feel very uncomfortable at the same time.
4. You can skip the whole game. 5 too.
4. It’s not even close for me.
[stabs the soldier with a pen, throws him to the ground and continues stabbing him] You had one fucking job and you couldn't fucking do that! And I got blood all over my fucking shoes!
Far Cry Primal
far cry 3
I love all three, 3 is a great cold open, 4 is really fun while intimidating, and 5 is genuinely creepy.
Easily 3, still the best far cry and a really special gaming experience
Definitely FC3 had the BEST intro. Fav intro as well as many others is 4, I just feel so fond of Pagan Min. He’s such a good guy. & ofc 5 is the best intro if we going by drama & eerily.
3
Far cry 3 is the best intro and game so far imo
I like 3's intro because it's all actually a video on your phone being shown to you while ur in a makeshift cage
3, short, sweet, let you understand what was up
Dead islands intro I really liked. WHO DO YOU VODOO BI\*CH edit: I realize I'm posting in a farcry subreddit.
3 or 5. 4 is such a snooze fest.
FC3
3
No drama, but three had the best intro my opinion
People forgot about vaas completely here??
3. The vacation clips aren't really that good, but after those... I just love Vaas's monologues, and his first one is my favorite (after "the definition of insanity" of course)
Pagan is iconic af
3
review of fra cry 3 friends on the island
Fucking Nancy
Far cry 4 and 5 only because of the secret ending you can get but far cry 3 is still the best game
3 5 is too fucking long and has **WAY** too much slow walking 4 is only good in the parts with Pagan
Farcry 3-4 both were amazing
"Sometimes the best thing to do, is to walk away."
2. I love an unskippable cutscene where you’re driving through the safari for what feels like an hour
Far Cry 3 paper planes >
I fly like paper get high like planes. FC3 was insane and holds up so well
Far cry 3 and 5 They have the best intros ever!!!!
Far Cry 3 got me in the Party Mood and Far Fry 5 got me Goosebumps all over my Arms
I choose to stay undecided. They were all fucking fantastic.
Skyrim, although i may be biased
Far Cry 2
i loved farcy 3's but far cry 5 has a hold on me
Far Cry 3
Spiderman PS4
FC3 has the best because it gives a more like realistic type feel if we were all in the jungle and didn’t know how to survive. FC4 has a solid intro I just didn’t like the game itself. FC5 immerses you into a world where the chaos around you gets more fucked up as you go.
I love far cry 3 and it’s intro but Troy baker yelling about shooting a bus and getting blood on his shoes honestly game me chills
My opinion is far cry 3
Fallout new Vegas
The intro to 5 was so boring that 5 minutes of gameplay turned me off from FC5. 3 has the best intro, hands down.
Far cry 4 was just badass. It just shows you how cruel Pagan Min is
FC3 blood dragon. I loved the retro 80s 8 bit cinematic and using the MG in the chopper.
Blood dragon is pretty great
4 hell yeah i didnt couny but i played fc4 like 20 times . What a good game was that for its time and still is
I like 4's, but they're all good
Far cry 3, its a fantastic twist right in the middle of the cutscene
3 by Far(Cry).
Farcry 4, Pagan Mins whole character and energy were introduced beautifully. I also found 4 to be the most colourful game out the series.
Yo! Six’s intro was great too! You feel an immediate connection with all those people and what you go through with the boat and island landing was heavy has hell. That said, they’re all good from 3-6. They’re also all quite different. So that’s cool too.
I fly like paper get high like planes
