if you wanna change recpies and attributes to guns i know a way to fix it but what version are you using?
Edit: Here is a template datapack that you can use :) if your using 1.20 it should work downloading 1.19.3

Straightforward enough, just having a problem finding the proper item ID to replace the original item (i.e. to test I changed the iron ingot to minecraft:stone but ended up with barrier block as an input)

same problem but you do understand how to like make stuff cost more Iron
