if you lowball $100-$200 you are honestly a shit person, i’m sorry. Lowball sure, but lowball at $500 or something and see what he does. He literally will just block you if you lowball $100
my mistake. i assumed the complete other direction, but that’s mainly because I wouldn’t consider dropping the price by $100 to be a lowball, just a negotiation.
Lowballing is typically when you massively undershoot the asking price to get the seller to reveal their absolute lowest price in retaliation, and I consider it to be a lazy and boring method of negotiation.
Offering $100-$200 less is completely fair and leaves room for further negotiation, my apologies again for being dense.
Probably to keep the pick guard free of scratches. When I bought my strat I kept it on for a week and was tempted to leave it on to keep the pick guard in good shape. Said fuck it and took it off and about an hour of playing and there's lots of scratches on the pick guard. Lol doesn't matter though, the thing is meant to played
That's my point. Initially bought it and thought I should be worried about keeping it in the best shape possible. Realized quick that it was a silly thought and took it off. Can keep it in good shape with a scratched up pick guard
Yeah, he is throwing a set of new strings. He told me he was not using the guitar and took the strings out because a friend of him told him it was a common practice when not using it.
Hmmm…. I never heard of that. I keep mine on and tune it before casing it. I figure keeping the normal tension intact can’t be a bad thing when casing for awhile. I worry more about the temperature and humidity.
Yeah, I assumed strings on was better because the neck tension is designed for strings to be there. Something like a Jag or Jazzmaster could get wonky without the tension I imagine.
If it’s got still got the sticker on, chances are it’s legit. Also there’s some peeling on the protective film, which you don’t so much of that from a lot of cheap fakes what with them screwing over the film instead of putting in holes.
It is a very nice guitar regardless though, and if it is fake then the body and neck is probably still good quality judging from that wood grain
I don’t understand your point. He’s buying it from an “owner”. Not a store.
It’s not “brand new”. I assume the guy bought it to play….and it has been played.
Yet it has that goofy looking film still on it. Maybe it’s a fashion statement? Like how Minnie Pearl and the Hip Hop crowd leave tags and stickers on their clothes?
My point is, it looks like the guy bought it and never played it. I mean, he may have played it, but other than the curling of the film, it looks like he maybe gave it a test run and decided to sell it and move on.
I would in no way assume that the prior owner’s intention was to leave the film on their guitar long term. I mean, maybe it was - what do I know?
I don’t usually like satin finishes but that black ash looks bad ass.
American Strats typically have a brown surround around the opening of the truss rod adjustment access on the head stock, a Fender Corona neck plate, an extra fret after the last dot on the fretboard, a two-point floating bridge, and a thick tremolo block under the bridge. I’m sure there are more differences but those are the first that come to mind.
All fenders have brown surrounding the truss rod nut. Americans have a walnut insert. Mexicans are plastic. They have all kinds of different neck plates. Number of frets depends on the model and year. Type of bridge depends on the model and year. Tremolo block depends on model and year. Basically nothing you said is right.
It's the Sweetwater sandblasted Performer Strat. It's legit. They run for around 1100 new.
Wasn't sure it was legit, never seen one of those before. I'm sure I can low-ball $100-200 he is open to offers.
Yeah I would offer 750 and see what he says. It's not a high value or rare guitar. Also it's supposed to come with a case not a bag as far as I know.

Ah I stand corrected.
With a lowball offer, all you're gonna do is antagonise him

I think they meant $100-200 lower than what they are asking, not offering $100-200...I think.
Exactly. I offered $750. He said $800 and will throw in a nice white fender strap and a set of new strings. We are meeting tonight to test it.
read other reply, i’m sorry.

no you’re not. The guy can simply not accept or split the difference
looks legit but it better come with strings on it for $900 lol

i don’t think you meant to reply to me bruv
I see that now 🤨

Yes, that's my understanding too. I guess his friend was just showing off. 😂

Looks legit to me

Why do people leave the film on their guitars? So tacky looking.
Does this guitar not look brand new to you?

I was looking at those. I like the looks of them and that big fat headstonk.

No, all fenders do not have brown around the headstock truss access. The MIMs are black. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
Get it! It’s legit
Nice.
It’s legit.
Rule of thumb for buying any used Fender, just ask for the serial number and look it up. Ensure that the guitar described matches what you’re seeing.
Why do people leave strings off their guitars? It seems to be very common on here.
