There is no point. Purpose isn’t found. It’s something you need to make for yourself. You’ve probably heard it a million times, and it sounds so dumb and cheesy, but it’s true. I’ve decided that my purpose is to be game developer. Just pick something you’re passionate about and go with it.
Passion is created and takes time. Dedicate yourself to something you're mildly interested in but could see yourself becoming passionate about whether that's based off of interest, morals and values, etc and the passion will eventually follow
practice gratitude. Are you grateful that you can play piano better than most people? That makes you unique. I hate practicing guitar but sometimes I make a creative effort to think of the things I love about guitar, and that kind of snowballs into passion. It needs constant upkeep though.
I think some people aren’t meant to have one passion and that’s okay. If you are interested in multiple things then pursue those multiple things. If you lose interest and quickly move on to stuff I think that’s cool too. As long as you’re having fun and it’s bringing your life meaning. Getting excited to try a new thing is one of the best feelings ever. Maybe that’s your passion. And there’s always new things to try.
I think some people’s brains just don’t do passion. If this is the case then it’s probably better to recognize this and not put pressure on ourselves to be something we’re not.
My purpose is something different every day. I do what excites me and keep my expenses as low as possible. The cheap hobbies are the best. For me that’s playing music, hiking, time with friends, games, working on my vehicle.
Having a cheap car and the knowledge to fix it keeps you busy and gives you confidence on road trips and adventures. Just my 2 cents.
There is no grand purpose waiting for you. You life is the culmination of two things. Impulse and choice. You have things you need (food water shelter etc) and things you decide are worth working for. Those things can be college or a cool project or someone you love or something else. You derive your broader purpose from the latter. If you don’t care about anything, you’ll probably feel untethered and driven solely by the former. To find “purpose” you have to work for things or people you want and then find ways to make them exciting and cared for. To me, purpose is actively engaging life as a participant rather than letting it happen to me. I hate feeling like a spectator in my own existence
Many people find it in helping others. I can't tell you what purpose you will find fulfilling. That's something you figure out through soul-searching and often from doing things that you hate.
It is specifically referring to time, so what I think you are referring to as “the clock.”
It means to take pleasure in the idea that you get to experience and observe time going forward.
My grand son is 4 months old and just seeing him the same way as I saw my own son sure makes everything I had to go through well worth it.
I'm 63 and been retired 3 yrs and plan is to live another 30 enjoying time with my kids and grandkids.
I have lived below my means and saved and invested to get to this point. Then I still would like to go back to college for a geology degree. Not really sure what I will do with geology but I am not going to be sitting around waiting to die.
Journaling. Philosophy. Weed. Sex. Marriage. Whatever makes you happy, just choose it while you can. What if any of the things that make me happy compete with one another? Pick the one that makes you the happiest. What if I pick the wrong one? You’ll learn from it. In that sense, there really aren’t any truly “wrong” choices. The sooner we see that, the sooner we realize that the meaning of life is the present moment. The fountain of youth is similar. It’s here and now. You’ll never be younger than you are in this moment, so take advantage of it.

I am in my mid 30s, married with kids. The purpose of my life changes daily. Sometimes the purpose is to survive, and sometimes the purpose is to thrive, create, explore, learn, or something entirely different. We are all here for an experience. Some people get really shitty hands in life and some people get really good hands, but no matter what the situation is we have to play the cards we’re are dealt. Your perspective will change as you get older, and maybe what I think today won’t be the same as in 5, 10, 15 or 50 years.
The purpose is to be happy. For me happiness is deeply connected to a loving and honest relationship. Someone you love and who stays with you till the end. The only moment in life you ask this question is when you're confronted with evil and suffering which makes life so miserable that the cons of keep going and living overweight the pros.
In this Situation people seek answers in religion like christianity which for me seems the most reasonable. World is very complex and we don't know everything yet. Loving your neightbour (according to bible god is love) and having good intentions in general for other people? Well i can follow that even not beeing 100% sure of the existence of god. As long as i'm loving i am following god/christianity and beeing loving and having good intentions for others is my natural state.
But if you're in a state where you in general have joy in life there is no point in asking the meaning of life. Like have joy seeing your kids, beeing healthy, seepong your spouce or accomplishments and so on.. Beeing confronted with evil can be a wake up call from the all is good bubble because most of the world is actually suffering.
It can feel that way. We should be enjoying our best life always. And "work" gets in the way. But finding enjoyment in what is in front of you and the people around you - who may need your help and support sometimes - is the purpose. I find it harder when I think - my life should be like this... and better when I say, this is what my current situation is, what can I do to be happy where I am, and what can I change where I want things to be different? Im a very neutral person. According to me life has no meaning to it we are just like other animals. These jobs,career and all that bs is built by society. If there was any way to end life without suffering i would have already done that
To be enlightened, after which, just enjoy every bit of what life offers: the good, the bad. To read, to write, to love, to cry, to care without being taken advantage of. Of course, all of which is in an ideal society. As in this society, i guess just to breathe and minimize one’s own sufferings.
Nah, the "reproduce" part is not the joyful part. The "raising" part is what makes me happy.
And why do you care about being different than animals? When you shed your uppity attitude, you'll find that there is no shame if finding joy in the same things that animals do (eating, shitting, reproducing, etc.)
Also the point of working is to avoid the alternative which is homelessness (unless you are a trust fund baby). I recommend that you spend some time at r/homeless to find your "point".

I am the life for a tiny being. It's not much, it's simple, nobody gives a shit, but it makes me happy. It's one of my purposes in life, and I have so many more.
It's up to you to find out the purpose(s) of your life.
I suggest looking into Buddhism and maybe watch some talks by Ram Dass and Alan Watts on YouTube if you want some philosophical perspective that could help orient you to find a path worth following. 🙏

The answer to your topic question depends on your belief system, or if you subcribe to the law of nature/biology.
The answer to your actual question is more a question of how trauma-ridden you are, and it is just showing how frustrated by our systems and made up laws and parental issues and all.
We cannot answer your question. You get to do that.
Find something meaningful for yourself and make your time here worthwhile, it's easy to see all the negativity, unfairness and pain, but it won't get easier if you will not try to make the most of it. Try as hard as you can to bring positivity to yourself, to the world and it will be better for all of us. We worry sometimes too much with "what if" when we should just get up and try again. Outlive your enemies, love your close ones, make that things you care about the purpose for yourself.
Just out here doin' it! Often difficult, but might be the only ride we get. Not sure there is a definitive point really. Just do your best and be good I guess.
The purpose is fighting. The path is the purpose. There's no purpose. The purpose is you against yourself and how much you can do. Life is about your own personal story. There's a karma going on with everything. Including you. That's the only thing I know.
That’s the thing, there isn’t one. We just spawn onto this earth and are expected to work our lives away. I’m struggling so hard with this as someone who doesn’t have a passion or hobby that I can capitalize off of. I never dreamed of having a job so I feel like I can’t relate to most people in this society or find a way to be happy and mentally stable under capitalism.
This I never knew what I wanted to be and I still don't. Anything I even remotely enjoy I dont have the talent for creating myself and I quickly lose my joy when I try. It's not something I can make any money off either
The purpose of life is in the living and always striving for virtue. After numerous trials and setbacks (some my fault...a few not) and just having turned 70 I have thus concluded. So long as you draw breath, have a heartbeat and are reasonably healthy you can always make a course correction.
I like to think I’m living through a story that I somewhat have a small amount of control over and I like stories, especially when you don’t know what’s gonna happen!

Look, this concept of going to school, and getting a job is new, its only maybe 200-300 years old, why? Because it was invented around the time of industrial revolution...
There was a massive production boom right, and factories needed skilled labour to work these production lines, so they founded public schools, and it was great... up until it wasn't....
But think of this, these 400 or 500 years ago, there was 0 jobs, the idea of hiring someone to do a mindless task for 8h was alien... non existent.
Yet people traded and got along, farmers raised cattle and taught their children to do the same, a shoe maker would teach their kid how to make shoes etc.
The point being, people were irreplaceable, unique, artiststic, because a shoe wasn't made with a production line by 10 people each gluing a piece, it was all done by one person, for another... same applied to dresses, and everything else...
The job market today made us mindless, cogs in a machine, your job is a list of things that need to be done in order, and the only question your boss is asking is who can do it for the cheapest price... and if he can pay someone in pakistan €5 euro less, I bet he would...
So whats the purpose?? Help people, in any way you feel is right, and consistently try to make a difference in someone's life.
Become the medieval Blacksmith of today's day and age, a shoemaker who charges €500 for a pair of made to measure shoe's which really will make a difference to someones life. Perhaps a podcast made for those who struggle with something you feel close to and want to help with.
None of us live in a vacuum, and the only purpose is to help others, and find your tribe of people who respect and value what you've got to offer and reciprocate the effort.

To sacrifice what we can't have. Like you said the house, car, kids, things you want to do/have are all things that we can sacrifice. You sacrifice what you can't have, and you focus on what you can have, that would get at least some of what you want or don't want. Kids for example are the last thing one should have, because we will have to sacrifice a lot to really enjoy the process of growing kids, and there are just so many unpredictable outcomes from having kids.
I myself am an example. I estrange my parents so as not to let them see my failure and I don't even want to see them because they will nag me about my inferiority, after they work their whole life raising me, and what do they get in return? Time and Money lost. My wife and I decided not to have kids and will have nothing with kids, and we just can't afford it nor house nor car. We live in our own peace except until sister in law has a daughter recently and almost 1 year old and I have to attend a 1 year old birthday party at a buffet and I am vegan and have no interest in looking at people who consume animals. Meh, Life is really not joyful at all, except when I am at home playing games, spending time doing what I want, and even cooking makes me feel annoyed but I have to eat or my wife has to eat too, and she doesn't cook, and so I have no choice but to cook.
There is no point to life. Like others have said you figure it out as you go through life. I don’t see the point in life like you right now so I’m just working and paying my bills and saving.
You have to decide what the point is for yourself. Part of doing that means ignoring people who are stupid. Hate to say it, but it's the truth. I've lived long enough to see how negative people can bring you down and make your life worse. Listen to the sound of your own drum.
There are hundreds of ways to live your life. If you feel like the old rigamarole of getting married and having children isn't for you then there are other life paths. Some people do need a "purpose" to feel fulfilled.
It does feel like a rat race sometimes. There should be a way to enjoy the money you make while you're young. That's why so many young people are in debt. We just don't care to be responsible if it feels like we'll always be poor anyways, so we splurge on restaurants, weekends, vacations, bubble tea, avocado toast, etc. etc...
For me and many others, it's anout enjoyimg life and ty to help others do so as well. This often means clashing with our doomer friends wthose whose purpose seems to be moanimg and dragging others down
While others provide more philosophical answers, I'll give you the most obvious. What you described in your question (getting a job, paying bills etc.) is not pointless, it's actually a part of the whole human civilization. Every living creature is striving to survive and procreate. Building a civilization is a natural process of human. Working is you taking part in it.
You could say that not all jobs are useful. Well, guess what, the system isn't perfect. That's why there're people who try to make it better, which again might be called a job.
Ultimately you just choose how you participate in this grand civilization building process. Or you can try and leave it (get to live in the woods), possible too! You don't have to go into deep philosophical concepts to understand it. Good thing is, mostly whatever you choose with good intention makes the world a better place (aka civilization strives)!
Look at how ants or bees build their colonies. Same analogy, and we're also children of nature, so it's only natural to us.
When people say live for others or make a difference, it makes life a chore. I don't have any desire to live long, have done what I wanted and needed. My life is the most comfortable it has ever been, but it feels too long, and I'm not even forty.
I don’t think there is a point. A lot of people post about this in several subs I see and there is no cookie cutter path for us. You gotta basically find a lifestyle you want to live, and figure out what you need to do to live that way. Some people say building infinite wealth for their family is their purpose. Some people’s purpose is to live a super frugal lifestyle and do as minimum work as possible. You just gotta decide what you wanna do and just do that.
You can have a large or small purpose. Your existence is purpose in itself depending on how you look at it. You change every thing you encounter in one way or another. By making your own purpose you’re able to add value to your existence and in the way you change things.
You want to add value and don’t know how? Lead with light and positivity. Think about it. All the people before us set us up to succeed. You can look at it as a shitty situation. But if you look back to the time before us… I mean, it could be shittier? … nahmean?

One of the things I read is to look at your gifts, what are you good at? This may help lead you to your purpose. My gift is serving /giving to others. So I am here to be a helper/giver. And if you are religious, we are here to love one another.
There is something inside you that would tell you what your purpose is. For me, I know I would have a smile in my deathbed if I contribute to a better and greener environment. That is one passion I was born with.
I feel like life is worth living because there are always new chances to find more purposes. No one purpose is going to be the 'best' and rarely if ever do people find a purpose that plays out the same for the rest of their entire life since our lives and the universe work dynamically.
The "why" becomes increasingly evident depending on one's perspective. Take for instance how very many people have found themselves in survival situations. In a situation where one's life literally hangs in balance and is out in the wilderness (like we all used to be doing ages ago), one would beg to have a normal school/job as opposed to that, let alone food.
Bills are a thing, but so are the pleasing things in life along the way. Another thing that is certainly a fact--life is **not** never ending... at least how we understand it. The words ["memento mori"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memento_mori) were used by Stoics for a reason. It means, "remember death." Memento mori is not seen as a thing to be bummed out about all day, but as a reminder that life is precious, even if things seem relentless. With this, as grim as it is, we can remind ourselves that while things can feel pointless at times, sometimes a better path lies in having gratitude--for one's breath, for one's friends, for one's life.
I'm sorry if you're going through a rough time and hope you find something meaningful to you, because I believe you deserve that.
There is no point whatsoever. If you have an exceptional life which the masses will describe as Wealth, Health and Happiness or the opposite, it does not matter because all our end is the same
As soon as I internalized this I stopped listening to bio hacks, science, influencers, everything and chose direct experience. It is liberating knowing you can make tons of mistakes and it will all be temporary because death is inevitable.
Just try out multiple different paths and somewhere in there you will find a "purpose" that is tolerable
The point of life is love. Whether it be your friends, family, community, pets, hobbies, or just life itself-whatever it may be. I believe that everything always points back to love. I think it is the most powerful feeling in all of the universe, and that it must be for a reason.
If you feel like this there are alternatives. This is not the only lifestyle.
Personally I favour the self sufficient lifestyle, not necessarily 100% self sufficient, but learning to do things for yourself is very fulfilling in my opinion.
Look into other lifestyles, mix and match, find what works for you.
I live by prioritising what I like, what feels natural to me, authentic, what gives me energy and makes me feel fulfilled. It took a long time to discover what these things were and adhd medication but now I’m content with life (well other than work which I am changing).
The purpose is irrelevant to me. It’s a human construct.

You make your own point in life. Here is an example of what I mean. You can be like what you have described here, pretty much nothing.
Or you can do something about it, start a business, start working out. You have probably heard that a million times, but that does give you a purpose in life.
Be someone, do something you love, that is more of a purpose in life, and for others serving God is their purpose.
You just need to pick one and follow it.
Whatever point you want to give your life. It’s all up to you to choose what that point is. If you look at it with a realistic point of view there is no meaning that’s why us humans give our lives meaning worth living.
I have no idea and I guess there is a comfort in that. Get to stop searching for it and just live your life the best you can. I had a dream while ago that I was given all the knowledge by a Seraphim being in this strange Stargate like room. Then I thought well, now what? lol
I am the point. I am my purpose. Me. I honour my body and mind. I be good to my future self and soothe my past self everyday. I work very hard not to judge anyone and I try not to control anything but myself. Being good to me is my priority and the point of my life. My goal is to be peaceful, go with the flow of life and leave all people and things better than how I found them.
To give your children a better life than you were given. This includes being good to everyone, to make the world a holistically better place for your kids. Its a very narrow goal, and exposes no greater meaning, nor does it allow for your own joy, outside of knowing you left it a better place than you found it.
These types of questions have to be answered on a truly intellectual scientific level- perhaps an understanding of how microbiology pairs with quantum physics pairs with chemistry, pairs with ecology or on an eastern spirituality level.
Some may argue that the point of life is to merely be. Though, I don’t believe the human’s brain has what it takes to accept that answer. But still, we live in an ecosystem that requires our presence (or the presence of a being similar to us) to continue {see the circle of life chart}. Imagine it like Jenga. The Jenga tower is life itself. Each Jenga piece is a component of life, we occupy a few of those pieces. In this case, the point of life would be *to serve one another to create life itself*.
Another may say we the souls have a duty to carry out. However, 90% of humanity will not be able to advance to conceptualize our duties because the value of *material* is quite pertinent to us. We certainly would rather develop technology to make living easier than to conceptualize that that technology is actually making the entire experience of life harder. It’s steering us off track.
Nevertheless, a spiritual answer would absolutely give you a “purpose” answer. Both answers do. But your perspective on life is going to assert whether or not you find truth in either
Read some Tolstoy or Dostoyevsky. They wrestle with these questions well. War and Peace, Anna Karenina, and Brothers Karamazov are great for this. They are long and some find them boring but they are worth it in the end.

for example i had a really strong home life and had a very happy and well supported childhood. i've decided my life mission is to have kids and be able to give them a life similar to what my parents did. everything else in life is in service to that goal. i have unfortunately learned a new lesson; in order to help others you must first help yourself. it's very frustrating
The purpose is to be happy to live life. Experiencing downsides in life means more opportunity to become the best version of yourself. If you can't find the point of life, go fuck yourself.

My friend. I have been depressed af lately too, over some choices and regrets. But I would really encourage you to open your mind to Christ. We have purpose here… it’s easy to look at life as work and drudgery and annoyances but that’s just your mood talking. You are here for a reason, you were created for a reason. You have people you will touch and help life in ways you don’t understand yet. Our human minds are too feeble to completely get it. Let’s say you find your purpose one day and your heart is full. Maybe you’ll be able to help the people that may be in your position right now, down the line. Life can be a real bitch. But it’s also so much more than the box we put it in when we might be a little depressed or defeated. I believe being here is to help others and to form a relationship with God. It’s cool if you aren’t religious but the theme here is that life isn’t all about you. I think you’ll find the more you help people here and there your cup will be more filled. I can tell you are an intelligent person, seeing holes in this “game”. That’s a good thing. Over time I do believe you’ll start to see meaning in things. One day my friend. One day. You’ll find yourself doing something or helping people and it will truly touch your heart. And you’ll go, now I get it.

Asking that question shows you have intelligence. Many people carry on their lives day after day and never ponder the “why”. Maybe they do but they answer the why with what they have been told and taught it is and never challenge it. Perhaps, there is something to be said about ignorance = bliss.
There is a point to life I promise. I really recommend that you read this book and website. They really helped change my perspective of life. We are animals, grasshopper. Sleep well, eat well, shit well. Unfortunately those are goals. Getting there involves mental and physical nutrition along with a means to make it happen. Hang in there and go make it happen. And take some risks. Nothing to lose, no?
So...nothing matters.
And then you find something (a person, a job, a hobby, it can be whatever you want) and you decide that it matters. You just make that choice.
Now something matters.
And here's the thing: even if you pick the wrong thing and it turns out it never did matter? You're still gonna be in a better place, or at minimum, pointed in a better direction, than if nothing ever mattered.

Even if it means choosing your gift. Choose something you can do effortlessly and work to become the best at it. I think a lot of times we get caught up in trying to “monetize” our lives that we forget to just enjoy something we’re good at.
People (and brands) gravitate toward people who look like they enjoy what it is they’re doing. Pick something, could be literally anything. And be the best at it.
Trying to find a purpose or meaning can be very mentally exhausting and I reached the conclusion that there is no purpose or meaning. And I’m not sure I can ever un-believe that now. I guess the choice is whether to be sad and miserable about that, or to see it as a kind of freedom: if there’s no meaning then all I can do is try and choose the things that I enjoy as they occur. I don’t have a big life goal or a passion. And I think there’s too much pressure on people to find one, and feel bad when you can’t.
You just need to try to enjoy what you can. Most days kind of suck because you’re busy working so much. That’s how I feel. I haven’t found much of a purpose to life. I think the point is to just enjoy the parts you can.

The point of life is to become a gang stalker isn't that obvious? Gang stalking is the fastest growing activity in the country and it's fun to teach the kids how to do it too. Make money and join other others in your community, including the profiteering local police, and torment a target victim for the benefit of some revengeful rich person.
What you are asking for is the feeling of fufillment. That doesn't happen until you have fufilled your purpose. Our purpose has always been clear, lower things for the sake of higher ones (I.E. working to become better at a task, or becoming more skilled at a profession) and higher things for the sake of each other, such as the master teaching the apprentice to embue skill upon him and helping through, mistakes. Discipline is the name of the game. You have to do the things even when you don't want to. Even when completing the small task is not fufilling, the work towards the final goal is the main point.
It's cliche AF but life is what you make it. Seriously. Just pick a destination that sounds kinda cool and head in that direction. Don't worry about arriving at the destination, just learn to enjoy the journey
I think the purpose of life is to do something fun with the people you love and look back at all the hard work you have done to make sure yours kids and maybe grandkids have a roof. Yes it will take your lifetime and yes there will be ups and downs but that’s life and that shouldn’t stop anyone.
The meaning of life depends on the person. Some people meaning is having kids. Money. World domination. Things you'd willing to die for. I like emotions it makes me sad, the meaning of my life is to make a sad movie one day.
Finding your "why" is a deeply personal and challenging endeavor.
What helped me was something I heard in a Motivational Speech Compilation:
"If you are looking for your 'why,' the best place to start is around your sleep. What are the first things that come to mind when you wake up in the morning? What are the things that keep you up at night?"
Start there and I feel you will organically move towards the spark inside you.

I'm searching too, I feel this post, it feels meaningless just going to a place I hate everyday to do things I don't care about just to maintain a life I don't even enjoy.
Hopefully we'll find it, but it's not in a Reddit thread imo.
The point of life is to feel love, pain, hate, jealousy, etc. Experience these things makes you grow as a person. But each decision you make based on your emotions or facts creates your own world.
Finding purpose is tricky. If you do what you love, have the things you want and found purpose, that's great, but is that all? Is there a greater purpose for you, or is that it? If that's it, are you content with what you got? If you're content with what you have, how long will that last?
The best thing I've learned so far is to reflect on your actions and behavior. Most people don't do that or won't do it.
I'd say play Nier Automata, then play God of War.
Neir Automata touches on these thoughts. They even put in philosophers in there like Frederick Nietzche, Jean Paul, Pascal, etc.
God of War 2018 and Ragnarok has a lot of stoicism. Which teaches you to be better.

There is no point. Purpose isn’t found. It’s something you need to make for yourself. You’ve probably heard it a million times, and it sounds so dumb and cheesy, but it’s true. I’ve decided that my purpose is to be game developer. Just pick something you’re passionate about and go with it.
What if you’re not passionate about anything? I get temporarily mildly interested in things. That’s the best I can do.
Passion is created and takes time. Dedicate yourself to something you're mildly interested in but could see yourself becoming passionate about whether that's based off of interest, morals and values, etc and the passion will eventually follow
I used to play piano. For many years. Recitals. I liked it. Wasn’t a passion.
practice gratitude. Are you grateful that you can play piano better than most people? That makes you unique. I hate practicing guitar but sometimes I make a creative effort to think of the things I love about guitar, and that kind of snowballs into passion. It needs constant upkeep though.
I think some people aren’t meant to have one passion and that’s okay. If you are interested in multiple things then pursue those multiple things. If you lose interest and quickly move on to stuff I think that’s cool too. As long as you’re having fun and it’s bringing your life meaning. Getting excited to try a new thing is one of the best feelings ever. Maybe that’s your passion. And there’s always new things to try.
I think some people’s brains just don’t do passion. If this is the case then it’s probably better to recognize this and not put pressure on ourselves to be something we’re not.

My purpose is something different every day. I do what excites me and keep my expenses as low as possible. The cheap hobbies are the best. For me that’s playing music, hiking, time with friends, games, working on my vehicle. Having a cheap car and the knowledge to fix it keeps you busy and gives you confidence on road trips and adventures. Just my 2 cents.
There is no grand purpose waiting for you. You life is the culmination of two things. Impulse and choice. You have things you need (food water shelter etc) and things you decide are worth working for. Those things can be college or a cool project or someone you love or something else. You derive your broader purpose from the latter. If you don’t care about anything, you’ll probably feel untethered and driven solely by the former. To find “purpose” you have to work for things or people you want and then find ways to make them exciting and cared for. To me, purpose is actively engaging life as a participant rather than letting it happen to me. I hate feeling like a spectator in my own existence

My grand son is 4 months old and just seeing him the same way as I saw my own son sure makes everything I had to go through well worth it. I'm 63 and been retired 3 yrs and plan is to live another 30 enjoying time with my kids and grandkids. I have lived below my means and saved and invested to get to this point. Then I still would like to go back to college for a geology degree. Not really sure what I will do with geology but I am not going to be sitting around waiting to die.

To work for a corporation for your whole life
I am in my mid 30s, married with kids. The purpose of my life changes daily. Sometimes the purpose is to survive, and sometimes the purpose is to thrive, create, explore, learn, or something entirely different. We are all here for an experience. Some people get really shitty hands in life and some people get really good hands, but no matter what the situation is we have to play the cards we’re are dealt. Your perspective will change as you get older, and maybe what I think today won’t be the same as in 5, 10, 15 or 50 years.
The purpose is to be happy. For me happiness is deeply connected to a loving and honest relationship. Someone you love and who stays with you till the end. The only moment in life you ask this question is when you're confronted with evil and suffering which makes life so miserable that the cons of keep going and living overweight the pros. In this Situation people seek answers in religion like christianity which for me seems the most reasonable. World is very complex and we don't know everything yet. Loving your neightbour (according to bible god is love) and having good intentions in general for other people? Well i can follow that even not beeing 100% sure of the existence of god. As long as i'm loving i am following god/christianity and beeing loving and having good intentions for others is my natural state. But if you're in a state where you in general have joy in life there is no point in asking the meaning of life. Like have joy seeing your kids, beeing healthy, seepong your spouce or accomplishments and so on.. Beeing confronted with evil can be a wake up call from the all is good bubble because most of the world is actually suffering.

Im a very neutral person. According to me life has no meaning to it we are just like other animals. These jobs,career and all that bs is built by society. If there was any way to end life without suffering i would have already done that
To be enlightened, after which, just enjoy every bit of what life offers: the good, the bad. To read, to write, to love, to cry, to care without being taken advantage of. Of course, all of which is in an ideal society. As in this society, i guess just to breathe and minimize one’s own sufferings.

Nah, the "reproduce" part is not the joyful part. The "raising" part is what makes me happy. And why do you care about being different than animals? When you shed your uppity attitude, you'll find that there is no shame if finding joy in the same things that animals do (eating, shitting, reproducing, etc.) Also the point of working is to avoid the alternative which is homelessness (unless you are a trust fund baby). I recommend that you spend some time at r/homeless to find your "point".

Get loved, make more, try and stay alive
In my home country people eat dogs. In where I live right now, if my dog hears a thunder he will run straight to my lap and sleep peacefully. I am the life for a tiny being. It's not much, it's simple, nobody gives a shit, but it makes me happy. It's one of my purposes in life, and I have so many more. It's up to you to find out the purpose(s) of your life.
I suggest looking into Buddhism and maybe watch some talks by Ram Dass and Alan Watts on YouTube if you want some philosophical perspective that could help orient you to find a path worth following. 🙏

The real question you are asking: "Why should I be here?" The answer to your topic question depends on your belief system, or if you subcribe to the law of nature/biology. The answer to your actual question is more a question of how trauma-ridden you are, and it is just showing how frustrated by our systems and made up laws and parental issues and all. We cannot answer your question. You get to do that.
Find something meaningful for yourself and make your time here worthwhile, it's easy to see all the negativity, unfairness and pain, but it won't get easier if you will not try to make the most of it. Try as hard as you can to bring positivity to yourself, to the world and it will be better for all of us. We worry sometimes too much with "what if" when we should just get up and try again. Outlive your enemies, love your close ones, make that things you care about the purpose for yourself.
Just out here doin' it! Often difficult, but might be the only ride we get. Not sure there is a definitive point really. Just do your best and be good I guess.

The purpose is fighting. The path is the purpose. There's no purpose. The purpose is you against yourself and how much you can do. Life is about your own personal story. There's a karma going on with everything. Including you. That's the only thing I know.
That’s the thing, there isn’t one. We just spawn onto this earth and are expected to work our lives away. I’m struggling so hard with this as someone who doesn’t have a passion or hobby that I can capitalize off of. I never dreamed of having a job so I feel like I can’t relate to most people in this society or find a way to be happy and mentally stable under capitalism.
This I never knew what I wanted to be and I still don't. Anything I even remotely enjoy I dont have the talent for creating myself and I quickly lose my joy when I try. It's not something I can make any money off either

The purpose of life is in the living and always striving for virtue. After numerous trials and setbacks (some my fault...a few not) and just having turned 70 I have thus concluded. So long as you draw breath, have a heartbeat and are reasonably healthy you can always make a course correction.

Ever thought of going the alternative path? Look, this concept of going to school, and getting a job is new, its only maybe 200-300 years old, why? Because it was invented around the time of industrial revolution... There was a massive production boom right, and factories needed skilled labour to work these production lines, so they founded public schools, and it was great... up until it wasn't.... But think of this, these 400 or 500 years ago, there was 0 jobs, the idea of hiring someone to do a mindless task for 8h was alien... non existent. Yet people traded and got along, farmers raised cattle and taught their children to do the same, a shoe maker would teach their kid how to make shoes etc. The point being, people were irreplaceable, unique, artiststic, because a shoe wasn't made with a production line by 10 people each gluing a piece, it was all done by one person, for another... same applied to dresses, and everything else... The job market today made us mindless, cogs in a machine, your job is a list of things that need to be done in order, and the only question your boss is asking is who can do it for the cheapest price... and if he can pay someone in pakistan €5 euro less, I bet he would... So whats the purpose?? Help people, in any way you feel is right, and consistently try to make a difference in someone's life. Become the medieval Blacksmith of today's day and age, a shoemaker who charges €500 for a pair of made to measure shoe's which really will make a difference to someones life. Perhaps a podcast made for those who struggle with something you feel close to and want to help with. None of us live in a vacuum, and the only purpose is to help others, and find your tribe of people who respect and value what you've got to offer and reciprocate the effort. I strongly suggest looking up any interview with Seth Godin, the man is simply amazing and hopefully will inspire you in some way to find your Purpose Best of luck!
To sacrifice what we can't have. Like you said the house, car, kids, things you want to do/have are all things that we can sacrifice. You sacrifice what you can't have, and you focus on what you can have, that would get at least some of what you want or don't want. Kids for example are the last thing one should have, because we will have to sacrifice a lot to really enjoy the process of growing kids, and there are just so many unpredictable outcomes from having kids. I myself am an example. I estrange my parents so as not to let them see my failure and I don't even want to see them because they will nag me about my inferiority, after they work their whole life raising me, and what do they get in return? Time and Money lost. My wife and I decided not to have kids and will have nothing with kids, and we just can't afford it nor house nor car. We live in our own peace except until sister in law has a daughter recently and almost 1 year old and I have to attend a 1 year old birthday party at a buffet and I am vegan and have no interest in looking at people who consume animals. Meh, Life is really not joyful at all, except when I am at home playing games, spending time doing what I want, and even cooking makes me feel annoyed but I have to eat or my wife has to eat too, and she doesn't cook, and so I have no choice but to cook.

You have to decide what the point is for yourself. Part of doing that means ignoring people who are stupid. Hate to say it, but it's the truth. I've lived long enough to see how negative people can bring you down and make your life worse. Listen to the sound of your own drum.
There are hundreds of ways to live your life. If you feel like the old rigamarole of getting married and having children isn't for you then there are other life paths. Some people do need a "purpose" to feel fulfilled. It does feel like a rat race sometimes. There should be a way to enjoy the money you make while you're young. That's why so many young people are in debt. We just don't care to be responsible if it feels like we'll always be poor anyways, so we splurge on restaurants, weekends, vacations, bubble tea, avocado toast, etc. etc...
It kinda just hit me now: you were born to make a difference, even if the difference is just making yourself happy. <3 Or whatever you want it to be!

For me and many others, it's anout enjoyimg life and ty to help others do so as well. This often means clashing with our doomer friends wthose whose purpose seems to be moanimg and dragging others down
While others provide more philosophical answers, I'll give you the most obvious. What you described in your question (getting a job, paying bills etc.) is not pointless, it's actually a part of the whole human civilization. Every living creature is striving to survive and procreate. Building a civilization is a natural process of human. Working is you taking part in it. You could say that not all jobs are useful. Well, guess what, the system isn't perfect. That's why there're people who try to make it better, which again might be called a job. Ultimately you just choose how you participate in this grand civilization building process. Or you can try and leave it (get to live in the woods), possible too! You don't have to go into deep philosophical concepts to understand it. Good thing is, mostly whatever you choose with good intention makes the world a better place (aka civilization strives)! Look at how ants or bees build their colonies. Same analogy, and we're also children of nature, so it's only natural to us.
When people say live for others or make a difference, it makes life a chore. I don't have any desire to live long, have done what I wanted and needed. My life is the most comfortable it has ever been, but it feels too long, and I'm not even forty.
I don’t think there is a point. A lot of people post about this in several subs I see and there is no cookie cutter path for us. You gotta basically find a lifestyle you want to live, and figure out what you need to do to live that way. Some people say building infinite wealth for their family is their purpose. Some people’s purpose is to live a super frugal lifestyle and do as minimum work as possible. You just gotta decide what you wanna do and just do that.

You can have a large or small purpose. Your existence is purpose in itself depending on how you look at it. You change every thing you encounter in one way or another. By making your own purpose you’re able to add value to your existence and in the way you change things. You want to add value and don’t know how? Lead with light and positivity. Think about it. All the people before us set us up to succeed. You can look at it as a shitty situation. But if you look back to the time before us… I mean, it could be shittier? … nahmean?

I feel like life is worth living because there are always new chances to find more purposes. No one purpose is going to be the 'best' and rarely if ever do people find a purpose that plays out the same for the rest of their entire life since our lives and the universe work dynamically. The "why" becomes increasingly evident depending on one's perspective. Take for instance how very many people have found themselves in survival situations. In a situation where one's life literally hangs in balance and is out in the wilderness (like we all used to be doing ages ago), one would beg to have a normal school/job as opposed to that, let alone food. Bills are a thing, but so are the pleasing things in life along the way. Another thing that is certainly a fact--life is **not** never ending... at least how we understand it. The words ["memento mori"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memento_mori) were used by Stoics for a reason. It means, "remember death." Memento mori is not seen as a thing to be bummed out about all day, but as a reminder that life is precious, even if things seem relentless. With this, as grim as it is, we can remind ourselves that while things can feel pointless at times, sometimes a better path lies in having gratitude--for one's breath, for one's friends, for one's life. I'm sorry if you're going through a rough time and hope you find something meaningful to you, because I believe you deserve that.

There is no point whatsoever. If you have an exceptional life which the masses will describe as Wealth, Health and Happiness or the opposite, it does not matter because all our end is the same As soon as I internalized this I stopped listening to bio hacks, science, influencers, everything and chose direct experience. It is liberating knowing you can make tons of mistakes and it will all be temporary because death is inevitable. Just try out multiple different paths and somewhere in there you will find a "purpose" that is tolerable

The point of life is love. Whether it be your friends, family, community, pets, hobbies, or just life itself-whatever it may be. I believe that everything always points back to love. I think it is the most powerful feeling in all of the universe, and that it must be for a reason.
If you feel like this there are alternatives. This is not the only lifestyle. Personally I favour the self sufficient lifestyle, not necessarily 100% self sufficient, but learning to do things for yourself is very fulfilling in my opinion. Look into other lifestyles, mix and match, find what works for you.
My purpose is to nurture the other human beings around me. Build friendships, and community. Inspire hope. Let love abound..

I live by prioritising what I like, what feels natural to me, authentic, what gives me energy and makes me feel fulfilled. It took a long time to discover what these things were and adhd medication but now I’m content with life (well other than work which I am changing). The purpose is irrelevant to me. At lunchtime I bought a huge orange The size of it made us all laugh. I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave— They got quarters and I had a half. And that orange it made me so happy, As ordinary things often do Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park This is peace and contentment. It’s new. The rest of the day was quite easy. I did all my jobs on my list And enjoyed them and had some time over. I love you, I’m glad I exist.

You make your own point in life. Here is an example of what I mean. You can be like what you have described here, pretty much nothing. Or you can do something about it, start a business, start working out. You have probably heard that a million times, but that does give you a purpose in life. Be someone, do something you love, that is more of a purpose in life, and for others serving God is their purpose. You just need to pick one and follow it.
Whatever point you want to give your life. It’s all up to you to choose what that point is. If you look at it with a realistic point of view there is no meaning that’s why us humans give our lives meaning worth living.

I am the point. I am my purpose. Me. I honour my body and mind. I be good to my future self and soothe my past self everyday. I work very hard not to judge anyone and I try not to control anything but myself. Being good to me is my priority and the point of my life. My goal is to be peaceful, go with the flow of life and leave all people and things better than how I found them.

To give your children a better life than you were given. This includes being good to everyone, to make the world a holistically better place for your kids. Its a very narrow goal, and exposes no greater meaning, nor does it allow for your own joy, outside of knowing you left it a better place than you found it.
These types of questions have to be answered on a truly intellectual scientific level- perhaps an understanding of how microbiology pairs with quantum physics pairs with chemistry, pairs with ecology or on an eastern spirituality level. Some may argue that the point of life is to merely be. Though, I don’t believe the human’s brain has what it takes to accept that answer. But still, we live in an ecosystem that requires our presence (or the presence of a being similar to us) to continue {see the circle of life chart}. Imagine it like Jenga. The Jenga tower is life itself. Each Jenga piece is a component of life, we occupy a few of those pieces. In this case, the point of life would be *to serve one another to create life itself*. Another may say we the souls have a duty to carry out. However, 90% of humanity will not be able to advance to conceptualize our duties because the value of *material* is quite pertinent to us. We certainly would rather develop technology to make living easier than to conceptualize that that technology is actually making the entire experience of life harder. It’s steering us off track. Nevertheless, a spiritual answer would absolutely give you a “purpose” answer. Both answers do. But your perspective on life is going to assert whether or not you find truth in either
Read some Tolstoy or Dostoyevsky. They wrestle with these questions well. War and Peace, Anna Karenina, and Brothers Karamazov are great for this. They are long and some find them boring but they are worth it in the end.

there's no purpose, you decide your own for example i had a really strong home life and had a very happy and well supported childhood. i've decided my life mission is to have kids and be able to give them a life similar to what my parents did. everything else in life is in service to that goal. i have unfortunately learned a new lesson; in order to help others you must first help yourself. it's very frustrating
The purpose is to be happy to live life. Experiencing downsides in life means more opportunity to become the best version of yourself. If you can't find the point of life, go fuck yourself.

My friend. I have been depressed af lately too, over some choices and regrets. But I would really encourage you to open your mind to Christ. We have purpose here… it’s easy to look at life as work and drudgery and annoyances but that’s just your mood talking. You are here for a reason, you were created for a reason. You have people you will touch and help life in ways you don’t understand yet. Our human minds are too feeble to completely get it. Let’s say you find your purpose one day and your heart is full. Maybe you’ll be able to help the people that may be in your position right now, down the line. Life can be a real bitch. But it’s also so much more than the box we put it in when we might be a little depressed or defeated. I believe being here is to help others and to form a relationship with God. It’s cool if you aren’t religious but the theme here is that life isn’t all about you. I think you’ll find the more you help people here and there your cup will be more filled. I can tell you are an intelligent person, seeing holes in this “game”. That’s a good thing. Over time I do believe you’ll start to see meaning in things. One day my friend. One day. You’ll find yourself doing something or helping people and it will truly touch your heart. And you’ll go, now I get it. Just. Keep. The. Faith. 💯
The point is entertainment through becoming enlightened and see what is in front of one's eyes and knows how to think about what is seen.
Asking that question shows you have intelligence. Many people carry on their lives day after day and never ponder the “why”. Maybe they do but they answer the why with what they have been told and taught it is and never challenge it. Perhaps, there is something to be said about ignorance = bliss.

The point of life is to survive. The problem is you have such an easy sheltered life that you can't even appreciate what it means to actually live.
We are animals, grasshopper. Sleep well, eat well, shit well. Unfortunately those are goals. Getting there involves mental and physical nutrition along with a means to make it happen. Hang in there and go make it happen. And take some risks. Nothing to lose, no?
At this point I am doing what makes life tolerable. As far as purpose, I try to be as kind as possible and just be a good person.
So...nothing matters. And then you find something (a person, a job, a hobby, it can be whatever you want) and you decide that it matters. You just make that choice. Now something matters. And here's the thing: even if you pick the wrong thing and it turns out it never did matter? You're still gonna be in a better place, or at minimum, pointed in a better direction, than if nothing ever mattered.

Choose something you can do effortlessly and work to become the best at it. I think a lot of times we get caught up in trying to “monetize” our lives that we forget to just enjoy something we’re good at. People (and brands) gravitate toward people who look like they enjoy what it is they’re doing. Pick something, could be literally anything. And be the best at it.
Trying to find a purpose or meaning can be very mentally exhausting and I reached the conclusion that there is no purpose or meaning. And I’m not sure I can ever un-believe that now. I guess the choice is whether to be sad and miserable about that, or to see it as a kind of freedom: if there’s no meaning then all I can do is try and choose the things that I enjoy as they occur. I don’t have a big life goal or a passion. And I think there’s too much pressure on people to find one, and feel bad when you can’t.
You just need to try to enjoy what you can. Most days kind of suck because you’re busy working so much. That’s how I feel. I haven’t found much of a purpose to life. I think the point is to just enjoy the parts you can.

The point of life is to become a gang stalker isn't that obvious? Gang stalking is the fastest growing activity in the country and it's fun to teach the kids how to do it too. Make money and join other others in your community, including the profiteering local police, and torment a target victim for the benefit of some revengeful rich person.
What you are asking for is the feeling of fufillment. That doesn't happen until you have fufilled your purpose. Our purpose has always been clear, lower things for the sake of higher ones (I.E. working to become better at a task, or becoming more skilled at a profession) and higher things for the sake of each other, such as the master teaching the apprentice to embue skill upon him and helping through, mistakes. Discipline is the name of the game. You have to do the things even when you don't want to. Even when completing the small task is not fufilling, the work towards the final goal is the main point.
It's cliche AF but life is what you make it. Seriously. Just pick a destination that sounds kinda cool and head in that direction. Don't worry about arriving at the destination, just learn to enjoy the journey
I think the purpose of life is to do something fun with the people you love and look back at all the hard work you have done to make sure yours kids and maybe grandkids have a roof. Yes it will take your lifetime and yes there will be ups and downs but that’s life and that shouldn’t stop anyone.
The meaning of life depends on the person. Some people meaning is having kids. Money. World domination. Things you'd willing to die for. I like emotions it makes me sad, the meaning of my life is to make a sad movie one day.
Finding your "why" is a deeply personal and challenging endeavor. What helped me was something I heard in a Motivational Speech Compilation: "If you are looking for your 'why,' the best place to start is around your sleep. What are the first things that come to mind when you wake up in the morning? What are the things that keep you up at night?" Start there and I feel you will organically move towards the spark inside you.

You're just gonna get everyone else's answers here like have kids. Not everyone wants to do that, what do you want? There's no big special meaning just what you make of it. I'm searching too, I feel this post, it feels meaningless just going to a place I hate everyday to do things I don't care about just to maintain a life I don't even enjoy. Hopefully we'll find it, but it's not in a Reddit thread imo.

The point of life is to feel love, pain, hate, jealousy, etc. Experience these things makes you grow as a person. But each decision you make based on your emotions or facts creates your own world. Finding purpose is tricky. If you do what you love, have the things you want and found purpose, that's great, but is that all? Is there a greater purpose for you, or is that it? If that's it, are you content with what you got? If you're content with what you have, how long will that last? The best thing I've learned so far is to reflect on your actions and behavior. Most people don't do that or won't do it. I'd say play Nier Automata, then play God of War. Neir Automata touches on these thoughts. They even put in philosophers in there like Frederick Nietzche, Jean Paul, Pascal, etc. God of War 2018 and Ragnarok has a lot of stoicism. Which teaches you to be better. I like having deep conversations like these.
