Small tank, half of the tank is substrate, half the water is missing, and he probably doesn’t like you because of it.

notabanana6324

The cae is back to normal again. ite eating algae like it usually should and its hiding in its favourite ship. this does happen at least twice a day. is it still because of the tank?

dominick2233

Well the tank is definitely not helping any of those fish you have like 4 gallons of water in it why not fill it up?

notabanana6324

will it make a big difference?

dominick2233

More water will always make a difference that’s like having a room instead of being in a closet

lemon_demon_worship

YES, that tank is wayyy too small anyway, and the CAE will end up murdering everything inside it GET A NEW TANK

WildmouseX

Small tank is a problem, but I also see very little movement at the surface of the water and that is a bigger concern - probably running out of oxygen in the water. Start with adding an air bubbler, then worry about getting a bigger tank.

nematodes77

Has outgrown your tank.

notabanana6324

im only 13 and i spent all of my money into this 1 tank. should i just find it a new home?

awful_at_keeping_up

if you can’t get a bigger tank it’s often better to try and find them a better home, you could always get a different fish that is better suited size wise to your tank. you could give a beta a very cushy life in a tank that size for example.

nematodes77

This ^^

MintyCrow

You can sometimes find free tanks on buy/sell groups/apps, fb marketplace, Craigslist- I’d start there

_gloomshroom_

It would appear you have a 15gal tank. CAEs need larger tanks than that, and in addition, you are probably taking up around 5 gallons of swim space with your substrate. I'd reccomend upgrading ASAP or rehoming your CAE.

DontWanaReadiT

Jesus Christ, why so much substrate? Idk what kind of fish this is and still know your tank is the problem

jljboucher

They are 13 and it’s their first tank

DontWanaReadiT

Idk what that’s guna change lol still too much substrate

blakeshockley

He’s trying to escape his shitty tank

notabanana6324

ive mentioned this a few days ago. hes acting normally now

lemon_demon_worship

OMFG IS THAT A CAE I'MMA DIP (jk, but upgrade his tank)

ufovalk

It's fine but you do need to fill your tank up

vktr_clrvl

Thats a very interesting water to substrate ratio. Try adding less substrate and more water. Poor thing has no room

jljboucher

Those get bigger and stop eating algae eventually. Mine started eating my gold fish.

cartouche_minis

3 times too much substrate, and half a tank of water on top. He's trying to "leave to another deeper spot of the river" because he's not happy there. You need to remove most of the gravel and substrate and fill your tank to the top of the glass..

MintyCrow

He’s trying to leave a shitty tank

notabanana6324

i mentioned this few days ago that hes normal now
