Well, they did say they anticipate release in the evening, zulu time... which it now is. If everything holds, it should be released within the next 3 hours.
So a snippet of what Randazzel posted a few minutes ago:

So they made at least $373,104 in 4 minutes. Fuck me….
At this point I'm just ready for the inevitable message from PMDG that they ran into some very vague issue that they won't disclose and delay it every day for the next week before randomly releasing it at 2 AM on a Monday

I dislike how they interact with their customers and think that they need to hire someone "normal" to do it for them, but you cannot deny that they make good shit. Whenever they release a product it's an event and that's very telling of the quality of product they make.

This dude had to know everyone was going to do this when they got home from work, so why not release it early so the server can process everything and then everyone has their links when they get home. The most Boomer release I have ever seen. First the hype on facebook changing cover pics and now the purchase system having an email sent instead of immediately displaying the download link after payment confirms.

Over 30 minutes and still no e-mail or download link on the account page. Same shit happened with the 737. One would hope, they could fix this in two years, but nope. Scalability is not black magic and we're not talking about Amazon on Prime Day here ...
I've hit the hour mark. This way of going about creating and sending a download link should have been stuck in the early 2000's but if you are going to go with this idiotic way of doing things going with a service provider that can handle these requests in under 10 minutes max.
Its very funny to see the same people drag PMDG for multiple months because of how their customer support is. Then the same people buy the product on release and are pissed about what happens. Gotta vote with your wallet if you want anything to change.
I think once this gets into the hands of the masses the complaints about the sounds are going to become overwhelming. Or at least I hope so they do something about it.

Unpopular opinion:
It's the best big aircraft simulation currently offered.
I was underwhelmed by the 737. It felt like an FSX port with some tacked on features.
I expect PMDG to be on the leading edge and bring new features that no other add-on developer has. It used to be the case (they had heat blur/ haze for the 747 in FSX, looked terrible, but still!), and PMDG commanded a premium for it.
The 737 wasn't it. They were playing catch up, and I still don't think it up to PMDG standards.
The 777 is a big step in the right direction.
It feels substantial. It feels big. It handles big, and that feeling was lacking in the older iterations of the 777 and 747. It's also the first time a big plane in MSFS feels BIG to me.
The wheel wear modeling is great, auto turn around, the modeling and systems simulation- very, very good.
It handles beautifully on the ground and in the air and just a great plane, like the real T7.
And that's on release! That is unheard of for PMDG and for most developers, including Asobo. I never ever bought a PMDG plane on release, waited for them to get the major bugs out before- this one has bugs, but they are MINOR. I have a 777 on the air for 12 hours with no issues. The 737 took over a year to become this stable.
It will improve, and I hope they will get the 737 on par.
RSR communication throughout the release process was very good, love or hate his style (I don't love it) he sounds honest. Like every CEO, he downplays the issues and emphasizes the triumphs, but you can still understand the underlying issues.
As someone who paid PMDG around 1000$ in the last 15 years or so, it's the best product and the best release process they ever did.
(I'm ignoring the horrible way they managed themselves in the last couple of months, only regarding the release week).
I'm not a big PMDG fan (look at my older comments), but they deserve praise here.
According to MSFS discord, those who purchased imminently on the release are still waiting for their emails - however, those who bought later and (now) are receiving their email download links within minutes.

I have the feeling there is some kind of boomer-style manual step they are having to do in the backend to enable the download links for orders. An automated system would do it instantly.
The same way they can't figure out how to publish a product without allowing people to purchase it, so they just set the price to some crazy number until they are ready to sell it.
Really frustrating that the download links are being sent out seemingly at random. Why not have this system prioritize older orders so that some don’t have to wait 2+ hours. A product release like this really shouldn’t be a lottery.
PMDG said the servers would be able to handle the amount of people buying this time. The exact same thing has happened when the 737 released. Good job.

Yea, I would have waited if I knew I would not be able to download once purchased. I get that they are likely trying to solve some server concerns, but make it clear on the purchase page that it may take time to get a download link. Never seen this approach before.
I wish PMDG wouldn't lie to us. This is \*NOT\* an email issue. It's their order processing issue. How do I know? I clicked the download link on my 737 email I ordered months ago. That link shows ALL orders I've made, including the 777 order that I made today. The difference? All of my 737 orders have download links and codes. The 777 does not. I just says "Order Status; Completed" with no download link or codes.
Not sure what's going on but I got my email, then get my code, then i put in the code, get a spinning circle for a minute or two, and no download. Anyone else have this issue?

Question for the group. I’m on PC but I’ve never bought an aircraft outside of market place. Is it as simple as purchasing and it appears in your hangar?
With PMDG's stuff, after purchase they take you to a page where you download an installer. You install the aircraft with that installer. It will also install an Operations Center where you can download liveries and update your aircraft when PMDG releases updates for it.

pmdg777 all ctrls froze mid-air.
As described above. All buttons became INOP, from external pov the entire model froze as well. The sim itself however is still working in my case. I have to abort over central Asia on my way from Athens to Shanghai.

My first 777 flight: > install the 777 > launch the game > cold and dark start > FMC says "navdata out of date" > wtf airac is supposed to be up to date > tries some stuff to fix this, check navigraph hub (u must close simulator before lol) > still "navdata out of date" > test that shit with ol' reliable 737 > good ol' startup bug (737 completely unresponsive) > relaunch the flight > 737 navdata is up to date > relaunch with the 777 > navdata is still out of date > search a fix in internet > find a fix > relaunch the simulator (those loading screens are giving me a PTSD) > navdata is up to date > go through engine startup > ready to pushback > wait, pushback is greyed out > finds out there is no pushback in this 777 > wtf why pmdg it worked perfectly in 737 > remember you just deleted good ol' pushback toolbar some days ago as u didn't used it anymore > tries to activate it again in addon linker > of course u must close the simulator before > tries to pushback with shitty vanilla ATC > of course it doesn't work > ragequits Thank God I didn't tried it on Vatsim lmao

Yea, I would have waited if I knew I would not be able to download once purchased. I get that they are likely trying to solve some server concerns, but make it clear on the purchase page that it may take time to get a download link. Never seen this approach before.
Looks like they plan on releasing an update very soon to improve the sounds after all the complaints.

I wish PMDG wouldn't lie to us. This is \*NOT\* an email issue. It's their order processing issue. How do I know? I clicked the download link on my 737 email I ordered months ago. That link shows ALL orders I've made, including the 777 order that I made today. The difference? All of my 737 orders have download links and codes. The 777 does not. I just says "Order Status; Completed" with no download link or codes.

Not sure what's going on but I got my email, then get my code, then i put in the code, get a spinning circle for a minute or two, and no download. Anyone else have this issue?

The great minds over at PMDG figured out how to not have their website crash but still have yet to figure out how to handle a simple download link.
I'm not even excited to fly this right now. It won't be happening tonight. Maybe tomorrow ill be more into it if I even get the email tomorrow. But seriously they knew this would happen yet fixed nothing. Whenever someone drags them over the dirt and people ask why are you always hating? it's things like this that makes them total Dbags.

Question for the group. I’m on PC but I’ve never bought an aircraft outside of market place. Is it as simple as purchasing and it appears in your hangar?
With PMDG's stuff, after purchase they take you to a page where you download an installer. You install the aircraft with that installer. It will also install an Operations Center where you can download liveries and update your aircraft when PMDG releases updates for it.
Yes almost, when you buy a plane from a 3rd party market you often get an installer with the plane that usually sorts everything out for you
Imagine taking the day off of work to fly it and it's already the end of the working day and it's still not out. 😅

pmdg777 all ctrls froze mid-air. As described above. All buttons became INOP, from external pov the entire model froze as well. The sim itself however is still working in my case. I have to abort over central Asia on my way from Athens to Shanghai.
