Tampa General Hospital has been a literal life saver, Docs and staff are top notch in the transplant hospital. Was treated like royalty while admitted.
cleveland clinic, hands down. but that's the doctors.
i will say they need to build some parking garages, their surface lots are not cutting it. they also need to streamline their very confusing check in process.
i missed a very important appointment because i was circling the parking lot for 1/2 hour, then waiting in line to check in up front for another 30 minutes. by the time i got to the department i was visiting, i had missed my slot đ«€
But you just wait longer, right? It can be very tight for parking but I'm not close and traffic is not great either so we leave extra early. Parking was not even in my realm of care the first time I walked in. The doctors are tops.
I will say that the best nurse physicians are Not at their satellite clinics.
no, i didn't have to wait longer. i'd been considered a "no show" for my appointment, so i was offered the opportunity to make another.
this doesn't reflect on the talents of the medical personnel there. as i said, they're tops. the problem is there is not enough parking and not enough people checking in patients.
Best I know if in north central FL is UF Shands in Gainesville. I had 3 surgeries in 2023 and spent 3-4 days in hospital each time and everyone was outstanding.
This should be higher up. Jackson is one of the largest hospitals in the entire country and offers basically every service you could think of. It's just not a particularly nice hospital but it offers some of the best medical care money can buy.
Well my husband is currently in ICU in Gainesville at University of Florida Shands Medical Center. Awaiting a liver transplant. Itâs the #1 transplant hospital in the country. We are fortunate that we only live 2.5 hours away. There are two transplant hospitals closer but this is the top notch one. Send good vibes our way, please!
Mayo Clinic. Amazing healthcare and been going there 12 years. They are at capacity and don't take many new patients, however, there is a work around. Go in through the ER and they'll accept you.
Second this! MAYO CLINIC is wonderful! Honestly shocked not many people have said this. The research they do is amazing! They also have so many specialty programs. They put time into your health and keep digging for answers. Your appointments are also long like they should be. They go over your history thoroughly, give you the time of day to answer questions. Iâve never seen medical care taken so seriously. I hope they arenât at capacity forever especially since theyâre building majorly now. I think it also depends on what department you need. My mom has seen some doctors within a few weeks and others she waitlist on or has an appointment in a few months.
It's definitely great, yet waiting time is horrendous, if it's not a life threatening emergency, they are trauma center for all the way up to Lake County, that's what I heard. I waited once in the emergency room after an accident for almost 12 hours.
Johns Hopkins All Childrens, for specialty child needs they are unique. For transparency, there has been some reporting that covered a staff getting children removed for abuse and TB Times has reported on it, think there was a documentary too.
Miami Childrenâs Hospital is phenomenal. Live on the treasure coast. My son needed specialized care that wasnât offered anywhere in my area. Took him to Miami childrenâs multiple time over the course of 3yrs. We also did some treatments at Palms West in that time frame. Both hospitals were amazing compared to my local options.
I would argue that based on the metrics youâve mentioned here:
Service, price, âbestâ, and the. âMost expertâ personnel,
It will be impossible to arrive at a single hospital for this discussion.
Many hospitals in FL are going to have highly experienced personnel who are some of the best in their field.
But what specifically is âtheir field?â
Some hospitals will be the best in the state for cardiac related needs.
Other hospitals in the state will be the best in the state for emergency care.
Another will be hands down, the best in the state for Emergency Surgery, or say, Orthopedics, or Neonatology.
⊠at least within the state of Florida, these are NOT all the same hospital.
When it comes to debating price for various services and procedures, you will find that cost for a procedure at facility-A may be less at facility-B, and then yet another procedure at this facility (facility-B),may end up being far more expensive than at facility-A.
Was on vacation at Disney and my husband had to be admitted for a bad diverticulitis flare up. AdventHealth in Celebration was wonderful. The nurses were great, the doctors were quick and available. Spent 3 days there and it was better than his last stay at a NY hospital.
Jackson Memorial/U Health, highest standard of hospitals in south florida, specialists, imaging, still has their own pharmacy, any problem you have they can help. Or Lawnwood HCA is a close runner up. Cleveland Clinic can crash and burn, or if you're rich or jewish you can go to Mount Sinai....
Iâve spent quite a lot of time there over the past few years and I can attest it is a PITA! I have seen gastro and cardiologist specialists and had a myriad of test. I liked my cardiologist but Iâve had discrepancies with nurses preforming some test in questionable ways that have skewed results. It really depends who you end up with. I wouldnât go back for any gastro issues unless it was maybe for surgery, cardiologist area seemed pretty good. Time in between appointments and getting follow-ups that do not feel insanely rushed can leave you with a bad taste though.

Cleveland Clinic, Weston. Top notch in my experience. Broward Health. Avoid. I'll never walk in one again.

Came to say Cleveland Clinic
Tampa General.

Jackson Memorial. Yes, a public hospital with the highest acuity which means they see Everything! Wouldnât go anywhere else with a serious issue.
This should be higher up. Jackson is one of the largest hospitals in the entire country and offers basically every service you could think of. It's just not a particularly nice hospital but it offers some of the best medical care money can buy.

Memorial Hospital Hollywood saved my life during a heart attack. I also had 2 C-section births there without any complications.
Anything that is NOT hca
Yep - next time I need ER - wonât be them.
Moffitt in Tampa is the only comprehensive cancer center in the state.
Nermours Children's Hospital is top notch, as is the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, The Mayo Clinic in JAX and ORMC Trauma Center is also excellent.
Mayo Clinic. Amazing healthcare and been going there 12 years. They are at capacity and don't take many new patients, however, there is a work around. Go in through the ER and they'll accept you.

In central florida I've had my life saved TWICE (over 15 years) by the great teams at ORMC. After that, I do think Advent is exelent too!!

What happened?
the sarasota memorial system has been great in my personal and professional experience.
Don't confuse it with Manatee Memorial though, which is less great in my experience.
much like sarasota and manatee counties in general
Very true, but both counties definitely have their faults.
I too, have had great experiences with SMH.
Johns Hopkins All Childrens, for specialty child needs they are unique. For transparency, there has been some reporting that covered a staff getting children removed for abuse and TB Times has reported on it, think there was a documentary too.
I came here to also say All Childrenâs in St Pete, i know someone so was there for long term care and they were top notch.
And a couple years before the documentary thing, they left a needle in a newborn after surgery. :/

Private hospitals have worse outcomes
None
Hahahahaha #floridameasles
