The only thing I can think what it is the experience bar that comes up on the screen when you earn xp. If I were you I would save and quit then exit the application, then reboot it up.
Yeah that happened to me when i put a slave collar on a little kid. Thats the only way you can get it. it goes up to five if you kidnap five more kids
